It DOES work, but instructions across the internet are vague. Here's how I got it to work (Mac): Open network preferences Network Name>Create Network (WiFi - any name) Click "Advanced" >TCP/IP>Configure IPv4: Change to "Manually" IPv4 Address: 10.0.1.12 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Proxies > Configure Proxies: "Manually" Check "SOCKS Proxy" (UNCHECK FTP Proxy!) FTP Proxy Server: 10.0.1.13 : 8888 iPhone: Choose "Tether" under networks, click blue arrow Static IP: 10.0.1.13 Sub-mask: same as above
