Hi I would like to buy one of the STR's I want to mix and scratch could you pleas tell me which one you guys would recommend me to buy the STR 150 or the STR8150.......do reply plz thanks... regards bj
I'm interested in getting the St 150's. Not the St8's. They will still be great for scratching right? I mean 1200s had a curved arm. I'll plan on getting ortofon or M447's so skipping shouldnt be a problem right? Please let me know what you think Stanton.
The straight arm on the STR8-150 tracks (holds the groove of the record) better than the curved "S" arm. Especially when scratching or cueing up the record. If you plan to scratch, go with the STR8.
Oh I seen these today inna dj store when I was on my trip stopped in this small city oh my god I gotta get a couple of these here was my first thought when tha worker showed me them
Ok so Stanton now that you've basically made one of the highest quality turntables around and a true Technics replacement, I think I can speak for all DJ's when I say PLEASE DON'T DISCONTINUE THESE TOO! It's bad enough Technics are gone, but at least it's great knowing there's an alternative to have in the future if I or anyone else were to ever need or want another pair of quality decks.
the torque in these puppies is un matched! l left my Techs for these and now my Techs are collecting dust....I never thought id see the day that would happen
I have not seen a single st 150 only the st 150(version with the S arm) in this video. so im guessing the st 150 is garbage?. whats the difference between straight arms and S shape arms?
The ST model is the curved or "S" arm version. The STR8 model is the straight arm version. Both are high quality tone arm options. Neither qualify as "garbage". The biggest difference is the ease of tracking with the STR8 arm. With the STR8 arm, the cartridge is less likely to skip during heaving scratching.
Hey guys I just left the 1200's after about being on them 27 years! I can say that Stanton STR-8's are the truth feel good and not cheap like most dj wheels of steel that are out there!
@djIXtwelve there both fukkin tight, but apparently the str8s are better for a scratch dj, but i disagree, but theres always going to be opinions from everybody, i suggest you go to your local guitar center, or sam ash, ect, & test em out yourself, tear em up, & which ever 1 you feel kept up better with your beating, you should buy, thats just my opinion . . . . .
@djIXtwelve From what I've read the str8's are made for scratching but puts a lil more wear on your vinyl.. where as the st with the "s" tone arm you can scratch but may run into issues depending on how you have it setup
damn they really did discontinue da 1200's I wanna take my djaying to the next level with some turntablism but no turntablist wants to take me under their wing trying to learn scratching by yourself is NOT EASY even with the videos
@Djsilentblaze dude yo should try to do screwed & chopped mixes, it slows down the music so obviously scratchin, jugglin, ect,ect will be alot easier, its great practice, and maybe during the process, you would learn to appreciate the whole genre . .; ) . . .

@Neksotus
It doesn't. Where are you seeing that? I just watched the video you're commenting on again and I didn't see anyone touch the motor off switch.
Regardless, check your in box here. I sent you a message with a link to a video that will show you that it works the way you want it to.

I wanted technics but since that company is closed and the technics are discontinued well. 1'000+ is too much for 1 table.
