The Old Coyotes Jersey's where awesome. Why won't they don't have them in games like NHL 10, they are hard to find now, They should have a throwback night
why dont they play at the america west arena or us airways center anymore? and the goal song these years is much better then the one these days. they should go back to those uniforms and that goal song
@RUSHisRIGHT09 US Airways Center has a max capacity for hockey around 15,000. The Coyotes avg attendance during most of their slump was about 14,000, and they were losing $30 million per year. Hockey is an expensive sport (especially maintaining ice during the heat), and requires an attendance above 17,000 just to break even. It would be nice to have a downtown location, they should have partnered up with the Gila indians and put it just south of phoenix
Lidstrom's goal a 5:14 is one example of why he is so good. What a combo of defensive awareness, skating ability, and marksmanship. He's one of the all-time greats without question.
Well, actually, the America West Arena just wasn't a suitable arena for hockey.
It was designed for the Suns with basketball in mind, therefore, the building's floor was barely large enough for an ice rink, and at least 4,000 seats at one end had horrifically obstructed views - At least 2/3 of the rink was completely out of sight due to the seats being very close to the playing surface and not very steep.
I do agree with your "Glendale" comment, though. Should have built a new arena Downtown.
Oh yeah? It is a definite bias against the Wings players. Watch Datsyuk similar goal cancelled in the 08 Western Conferenct Finals against Dallas Stars.
i like watching the fans' reaction on fedorov's no goal, everybody was banging there hands on the glass, then when the goal was waived off, the people are like, "YEA" lol
ever been to that arena? as nice as it was it just wasnt built for hockey, the obstructed view seats sucked...they needed their own place
yes building in glendale was kinda bad at the time, but at least glendale has developed alot since then...but yeah, the poor management the coyotes had back then is one of the reasons they are in financial trouble now
the original plan was to build the arena closer to scottsdale where most of their fans are, but the old management/owners didnt get it done
Me too. Same if MacIver scored on that 2-on-1. After watching this set of games, that series of saves by Osgood was what turned the series for Detroit.
That off-the-back-wall goal in game 6 didn't help much either.

Fedorov was a beast in this game, despite the waived off goal which would've counted in today's game because that rule was bogus.

Detroit was down 2-1.
If Tkachuk scored on that breakaway and Phoenix goes up 2-0, would that mountain have been possibly too big to climb?

I've wondered that myself many times
