  • when i get a horse probably this summer i hope it is the gorgeous and fit Saddlebred. i ride western and learning english probably next

  • Everyone is talking about 'standing and sitting' the trot... its called posting. In any discipline it is a very basic and good skill to learn to help you balance better, build stronger leg muscle, and save yourself and your horse from a bumpy ride. At my barn we are actually taught to post and stand the trot WIITHOUT stirrups. And trust me, its torture on the rider. But, it helps us ride better and 'equitate' with stirrups in shows, which is part of the goal ;)

  • No pain? If my tail looked like that, I would be in A LOT of pain.

  • @EventingWithMe Good riders ride off their knees, not their hands, though some use their hands as a crutch. You need to maintain a gentle contact with the bridle and bit to keep control and help tuck some horses' noses down when they stick them straight out {though a curb bit helps} but you don't balance or pull yourself up by their mouths..

  • @hestur01 Btw, thats a slow gait :P

  • @hestur01 then you obbiously have no idea what the hell your talking about, these horses are bred like that, learn more about the breed before you talk bad about them, or their riders, the bit doesn't hurt them, where the bit goes, theres no teeth there, just gum, doesn't hurt them.

  • Aren't these horses gaited? Are some people saying it looks unnatural because they have not seen gaited breeds?

  • It gets on my nerves when people say that this in unatural and is painful for the horse. This is totaly natural, they pick up their hooves so high because of breeding, it doesn't hurt them. And the reason why we post is because it gives the horse more balance and its more comfertable for us and the horse. And to make their tails so high, we do not break them, we cut them, its not painful what so ever.

  • I wanna show in Louisville one day! but These horses are gorgeous and plain bred to do what they do and whoever says Thoroughbreds are the best, think again! Oh and i love this song!! We used it in a dance performance at school.

  • I wanna show in Louisville one day! but These horses are gorgeous and plain bred to do what they do and whoever says Thoroughbreds are the best, think again!

  • I love American Saddlebred Horses i also had time itself but one thing from 2:24 sees total the chains-------> is Tierquälerrei these chains.

  • @BaLLaLoveMusiK

    sorry from 0:57

  • This is natural. these horses were bred to do that stuff, no pain. beautiful, just amazing. great video too by the way :)

  • @xperialight2247 No pain? These horses look stiff and the riders have heavy rein contact. The horse that shows the gallop late in the video shows clearly that he doesn't relax at all, is stressed - and it is most probably because of the bit.

  • @hestur01 Nahhh, Gotta pull back about 3 pounds of pressure because it sets their headset and to be honest saddelbreds are pretty hyper. If I loosen Slack on my horse just a little bit she will bolt.

  • Freaks! And what they make the horses do is abuse .... period. Sickening to watch.

  • @Lagolop You're an idiot... These horses are naturally gaited -aka BRED THAT WAY- to do what they do. And don't even go off about how making them pull a cart is "abuse". Because guess what, before cars and bikes and skateboards and the like, horses were one of the main methods of transportation. Have you been to Louisville, Kansas City, Lexington or even the Raleigh Spring Premier? I think not. So maybe you should try being in the rider's stirrups before you run your mouth.

  • @Lagolop Stfu.. You have no idea what you are talking about unless you personally ride saddleseat.

  • it is not really healthy for the back if the horse held his head so high..

(sorry for my bad english .. i'm german ^^)

  • @Kati2295 They naturally hold their heads high.

  • @horselove90

i know. all horses doing it, but if you ride them, you have to take their head down. don't know how to describe in english :D.

if the head is high like the one in the video, the back of the horse can hurt, because the spines come together and rubbing bone on bone.

have a look at the english or the western riders. the horse has to go on his back muscles for carry the riders weight. (hope you understand :D )

  • @Kati2295 I think I know what you're saying. If you'll notice, in the video the riders sit farther back. The saddle is positioned in a way where it wouldn't hurt the horse. Trust me I don't think anyone with a horse like that would do anything to hurt it! ;D

  • @horselove90

that's true.. i only ride english so i don't know much about this breed ;)

but i thinks it is right what you're saying :)

  • american saddlebreds , are the best breed ever , ive been riding for 4 years , and now i own 3 of them ; they are a versitile breed , and their motion is natural , they are built to have motion like that , and we do not abuse our horses ! <3

  • Gotta love the amreican saddlebred just look at the movement they are just stunning

  • @cowgirl29

    "movement they are just stunning"

Stunning is not the word. I'd use shocking.

  • PLEASE SUBSCRIBE TO MY CHANNEL! ALLL ABOUT SADDLESEAT AND AMERICAN SADDLEBREDS! <3 p.s stfu up talking about we abuse our horses! american saddlebreds were bred to do this we dont force them they do it on their on! you dumbass! and if you have a problem with us then oh well!

  • They were bred to pace so they could move quickly across country.

  • lol @ the people not having a clue. Best friends have been saddlebreds ;) Learn before you make a fool of yourself asking stupid questions ***winkwink this is for comments not to teachers kthnks

  • @Horseslover77 okay this is natural...........watch videos or read a book about them..and yes its english style called saddleseat.and we are standing and sitting for it to be comfortable for the horse cause just sitting would make us bounce on their back and hurt them and us......

  • Comment removed

  • @Horseslover77 its called posting its more comfortable for u and ur horse { u should try it sometime thats if u r able to even get on an english saddle

  • Comment removed

  • @Horseslover77 its called posting and if you don't even know what it is how can you criticize it?

  • @Horseslover77 If you're a "horses lover" how do you not know what 'posting' when riding is?

  • @Horseslover77 "standing..sitting..standing..sitting" is called "posting" this keeps the horse balanced with the rider while in motion, during turns in corners and around circles.

  • Comment removed

  • @Horseslover77 standing sitting is way more comfortable for the horse then just bouncing on their back, as a horselover, you should know something about english riding, i think? This bred walks this way naturally, so, try to read a book about horses, mabye you'll learn something:}

  • @Horseslover77 its not natural, they are trained to do that.. and its called posting.... english ridding, and actually its easier for the horse

  • @Horseslover77 The standing - sitting - standing - sitting is better for the horse!

  • @EventingWithMe no the rider does not balance their hands on the horses neck if they did that the horse would get pissed of depending on the temperment of the horse also it would flip its head.

  • pls could you tell me the name of the song ??

  • @eventing with me.. ur n an iidot its Saddleseat .. differnet Saddle and tack.. very different then jumpin n nwestern ... better in my opion...... So b4 u go sayin anythin look it up... idot

  • @EventingWithMe

    you're an idiot.

  • It looks that way, sometimes that is it. But it's really not. Saddle Seat is a completely different form from Hunt. You don't use the claf, you use the thigh.

  • @charmed6057 You use the knee primarily, you're not supposed to ride off of your thigh..

  • No EventingWithMe, It's called saddleseat. The saddle is different & on the middle of the back to give the horses withers more freedom of movment. It gives away the appirence of them pulling on the horses mouth when really they are not.

  • they have a completely inverted and swaying back.

  • maybiix nothing is wrong with their tail it is wrapped with vet wrap usually to make it grow longer

  • What a great breed! It's a pleasure to see horses where the poll is correctly the highest point. Not like all the crappy dressage horses, western breeds and arabs, etc with the horses in a so-called "frame. A pathetic way of going. Thank god there are still saddlebreds and field hunters in the horse world! They may be at the oposite ends of the equine spectrum but they are the only horses for me!

  • You can't really say that. Everyone see's a horse as more beautiful than the last. Some people say the Arabian is the worlds most beautiful, for others, it's the Hackney. The same applies to styles of riding. I see english style as more beautiful than western, but that's my opinion. And though you can say that, my point being, everyone has their own opinion.

  • What is the song you used in this great video? I would like to know...

  • awesome! I love saddlebreds too. I own a show horse. We will show in Country pleasure. But this is a very good vid!!

  • please tell us what music/song you used in this piece- It is beautiful.

  • the tails are not repeatedly broken to get them to look like that. the ligaments are cut and the tail is placed in a brace to make the break over.

  • I believe their tail's are repeatedly broken and set in that way. It reminds me of chinese foot binding.

  • That's not it though. Learn before you try. Some people, who are totally cruel, will stick ginger into the anal hole, but good people won't. It's natural most of the time.

  • @SunriseRabbit False, they are cut and braced, not repeatedly broken..

  • omg

  • What ist wrong with their tails? oO

  • I used to not like Saddlebreds, but they're growing on me. I love the head and tail carriage, and the long legs. =D

  • y do they be bouncing on them horses thats the reason i ride only smooth gaited tennesse walking horses thanks

  • It's called a "posting trot" you only do it in english saddles *Though I have seen it done in western* you don't realy bounce you on purposly move up & down in the saddle to make sure you don't get jard to peices every time the horses hooves hit the floor

  • whats the american saddlebred even bred for and why do they run/trot like that?

  • well the saddlebred i guess is bred to be versitile which they can do about anything and they are especially bred for driving and showing saddleseat. they arem the horse america made and also ASB's are naturally showy like that.....and the trot is from the breeding of the pacer and a couple others

  • @alana89426 i think the run/trot you mentioned is what we call the rack and it is only done by some saddlebreds that are built to be gaited

  • @alana89426 Grant rode one in the war so you could ask why . They are great horse,s in history an show .Go read on them.

  • @alana89426 so the horse will be shown off and can prove what it can do to the world

  • How do the horses tails get so long.

  • some3 grow tghat long naturally it can take anywhere to a couple years to like 20 years we used to have a horse at our barn he was like 10 and his tail could wrap once around his body!! but then again some horses tails dont grow that lkong or are really thin so we use a fake tail that is tied in really well so it looks like their real tail but usually if u have benn around ASB's for awhile u can tell who's is fake and who's is not.

  • most horses tails grow at a different rate i have two horses both the same age and on of my horses tails is about 2 or 3 ft longer than the others it just depends but as she said below when your around ASB for so long u see a fake tail every now and then :)

  • love the video!!!

  • hey great video.

whats the song called, sounds familiar.

Do you happen to know the horses name a 1:07?

looks like a horse that was at the barn i ride at.

  • requiem for a dream by lux something i forgot

  • revival i think i am pretty sure

  • oh bc it looks like Royal Crest Dream of Stone.

  • Saddlebreds and saddleseat are my first loves in the horse world, however, I feel so many of these horses look tortured. They are beautiful without the tailsets and weighted shoes.

  • I love this vid!! I love saddleseat

  • they are so gorgeous...drool...

  • sweet.

  • you should enter this in that contest that ultimate contest by Shilot.. for the breed promo division

  • i favorited it!

  • LOVE IT

  • i love it... but i dnt like the music. haha. but htat' totally ur choice.

  • umm i think it is the "Requiem For A Dream" by Lux Aeterna.

  • OH btw ive heard this music before whats it called?? thx

  • Awesome. It bugs me how bad some of the rider are xD especially the guys! It's like jeez...

  • ya, well, the riders aren't bad, that is just a trend set by trainers. I don't like it, but I guess their is something the trainers like...

  • awesome
