  • By the way, I'll put in the record that I loved the Conan remake.:D

  • @Aluenvey You have earned my respect lol.

  • The problem is that Jim Sterling doesn't want to admit the truth. That "Call Of Duty Kiddies" are the majority of CoD players. Just google NGU, one of the largest gaming site out there. It's practically a CoD fansite with over 670,000 members; average age... 14 years old. Are they stupid? Hell yes. The reason mature adult gamers hate CoD is it's a pathetic power fantasy that appeals to overly aggressive teens. It has more in common with sports than it does traditional video games from 80s/90s.

  • i just like call of duty because its fun. i love all types of video games. my favorite are the classics.Legend of zelda is my favorite. I understand if you dont like it. but i personally think its fun also cause i fuck off in the game and not worry about my K/D. but calling all call of duty players stupid.. THATS just mindless...

  • @MrWafflez26 I understand that, you can have fun with any game you want, it's your money, it's your time, if you have a hobby or enjoy doing something, that's great. I'm glad you like something. But I wasn't calling ALL COD players stupid, I was using a per-capita argument. I think most people in the world are stupid, COD is the biggest entertainment medium in the world. Ergo most stupid people play COD. I've been meaning to make a follow-up video to my rather poorly worded response for a while.

  • @Bluemagus yeah i get what youre ttrying to say. But i admit. ALOT of COD players are stupid. they would spend $60 for a game that all they do is camp and yell at. just because its call of duty. The game that gets my attention more than anything right now is Skyward Sword.. and Skyrim.

  • Jim gave Mario Kart 7 a 5 for nothing new, then gave MW3 a 9.5. I JUST, don't even.

  • @ITSRIIIIDGERACCERR Ya know, when it comes to personal opinions, circumstances, and what-not, little inconsistencies like that wouldn't bother me so much, it's really your own personal taste anyway. But Jim is a "professional" video game critic,it couldn't hurt to at least maintain some level of consistency and non-hypocrisy.

  • I smiled when you played Korpiklaani, I'm seeing them live Dec 4th!

  • Yeah, I'm gonna stick with my old-school NES, SNES, PS1, and N64 games, fuck you guys.

  • @obscurebandfan Whatever makes you happy, most of my favorite games are on the PS1 anyway xD

  • Haha. 9:55

  • you do realize you tell him not to call people who DON'T like COD stupid and ludicrous but then you say that people who DO like COD are just naturally stupid well excuse me but fuck you cause now your just being a hypocrite

either practice what you preach or dont peach it at all.

  • @spawnofflames I'm not a hypocrite, I was using a per capita argument. More people play call of duty, therefore Call of Duty has more stupid people who play it. The more a fanbase grows, the more idiots you get for said fanbase, would you deny this?

  • @Bluemagus It's true. People are stupid. So many conversations I have with my friends end up at this conclusion.

  • do you not realise that first person shooters were already flooding the market before that game and even worse world war 2 shooters were flooding it even more, so what does that contribute to your point? there were more clones before and people didn't complain. seems like a point any teenage kid would try to make

  • @StPatrickDayMassacre I'm well aware of the WW2 clone shooters that flooded the market, I used to watch x-play and I recall Morgan Webb constantly joking about how many of those games she has to review per year. The difference here being the WW2 FPS games weren't as annoyingly prevalent as the Modern Warfare clones are today. MW3 is the current record holder for biggest entertainment launch of all time. the WW2 games were complained about, but not by as many people.

  • @StPatrickDayMassacre (continued) The points I made were about Jim's rather poor defense of the Call of Duty games. It has nothing to do with my personal take on the Call of Duty franchise, if you want to know my opinion of it, it's that I'm tired of FPS games, and I'm tired of this franchise shitting out a new video game every year simply because the advertisements for it annoy me. I don't care beyond the minor irritation it gives me with how many people talk about these games.

  • Jim does seem like a stupid fat arrogant pseudo intellectual in his video but so do you in this one :/ except for the fat part.

Your jokes are also about as funny as his.

  • @NinjaSheepa I disagree, I am not fat.

Arrogant? Meh a little, but debating on anything requires some amount of arrogance, as for the pseudo intellectual part. Nope, he made a ton of points he couldn't back up,where as I can and did.

Also if you read my comments I was pretty much scrambling for any kind of comedic value, so I went with the only jokes I could think of. If you've seen my earlier videos you'd know I'm not that bad of a comedian.

  • I like COD, it can be fun, I have no reason to justify that to anyone. As for the copycats, I don't think you should blame the original for other's lack of imagination. If a developer copies a game, they should be blamed instead of the one they copied (no one blamed God of War for all it's knockoffs.)

  • Is that the lighting or is the end of your hair blond? ...

  • @suckswithpivot The end of my hair is blond but toward the top of my head it turns to a dark brown.

No I did not dye it, somehow my hair manages to do this on it's own.

  • @Bluemagus Oh well that's a completely natural thing, it just looked very sudden. It's like brown a line of blond

  • Mad props for Shadow of the Colossus reference; that game is boss visually and storywise. :D Gameplay could use some work though. Dx

I liked your response, aside from the random insults and whatnot xD; But yeah, generally you tackled all of the points I think would have made most of us go "WTF?! O_o" lol Good job.

  • @IluvKirito The Random Insults were things I added just for some amount of comedic value, I didn't mean them on any level. Though I still think Jim Sterling is a bit of a moron.

  • If the goal of this was to rival the stupidity of the Jimquisition, you've succeeded. Mission Fucking Accomplished. In fact, you've done so well you may have actually surpassed it at certain times.

  • @rafbomb Care to elaborate?

  • @Bluemagus You took the Jimquisition seriously. THAT alone is a pretty big fucking deal. There's more, but I really don't feel like going into it now. I have to admit though, this was pretty damn funny though. But probably not for reasons intended.

  • @rafbomb Didn't I acknowledge at the end he was playing a character? More importantly he is a legitimate critic for Destructoid so what he says at least has some amount of backing power.

But regarding the "You don't feel like going into it now" part. If you don't feel like going into it, why bother commenting in the first place? Why bother replying in the first place?

Me thinks you think yourself smarter than you actually are.

  • @Bluemagus At the end you acknowledged he was playing a character. Only then. The rest of the video you took him far too seriously. As a legitimate critic... Just don't read his reviews then. You don't have to. Why I bother replying? To make my opinion known. The same reason you posted the video. I made no claim about my intelligence. Also the "most people are stupid" thing is just annoying and pretentious. If everyone was stupid, wouldn't stupid cease being stupid and just be average?

  • @rafbomb I read Jim's review for Duke Nukem forever because I was linked to it, I read his Modern Warfare 3 review to see if I can find some kind of fault with his video, and I did. I've read a grand total of 3 reviews by Jim Sterling, all 3 made me cringe at how idiotic he is. If you simply wanted to make your opinion known, then it seems like you just wanted to be noticed. As for most people being stupid being the average, yes that's true. But that doesn't change their intellect.

  • @Bluemagus OMG 3 reviews?? THATS LIKE, SO MANY. Oh, and the reason why? I lied. I posted it because it's the response I had to it. You're no more intelligent then Sterling. I wanted you to know that. This video is just as stupid as the video it's a response to. AND it's serious. Why did you post this, if not to let your opinion known? On stupid: Isn't being stupid having below average intelligence? Saying that most people are would just be redundant. You consider yourself in the minority, yes?

  • @rafbomb Well ain't you egotistical, want a cookie?

I posted this video because I had a legitimate counter argument against Sterling, none of my counter arguments were addressed from your adhominem comments. Stupidity has nothing to do with an average intelligence, it's simply based around a lack of understanding, reason, wit, knowledge. You did not know this, ergo YOU'RE stupid.

You're a stupid man who thinks himself intelligent. Greetings Mr.Pseudo Intellectual, I'm Bluemagus!

  • @Bluemagus But you posted it because you wanted your counter argument known. Which, according to you, means that you just want attention. I would go on, but I have better things to do then reply to some pretentious idiot, who thinks that the majority of people are idiots (excluding himself of course) and has a serious response to a video that's not supposed to be taken seriously.

  • @rafbomb Difference here is I had an actual point, I developed counter arguments to Jim, you on the other hand never made a single solitary point in favor of calling me stupid, without telling the reason why. That's not criticism, that's adhominem.

I'm pretentious? You're the one assuming Jim's video wasn't meant to be taken seriously. Even though he asked for people with legitimate points against COD to list them.

Also if you have better things to do, why continue to reply? Begone Satan!!!

  • @Bluemagus Bye. Can't say it's been nice (what with you being so insistent on proving yourself to be the things you claim other people are).

  • @rafbomb Bye, your pseudo intellectual, pretentious, drivel and ad hominems will not be missed.

  • @Bluemagus Couldn't resist, you just had to keep this going didn't you? Bastard. Anyway, asking for legitimate points doesn't make what Jim says serious. Seriously, the fucking taglifne is legitimately "Get Angry". Actually... You've been trolled. You made a serious response video to a troll. Successful troll is successful.

  • @rafbomb Well it IS my video, I guess you don't have anything better to do after all, I don't know who's a bigger liar, you or Jim.

Also what fucking Tagline shit head? There ISN'T a Tagline, at best you get Truth, Pride, Garme Jurnalizm, Jim Sterling.

Trolling? It's cute when you act like what you know what you're talking about.

  • @Bluemagus I do have better things to be doing. It's why I called you a bastard, and this could've ended if you hadn't responded. I couldn't resist, and ended up posting again. "Get Angry" was on ads for the show. It's not on the video, and I'll let you off for it because you would have to visit The Escapist to see it. I haven't seen it for a while, but it was probably around during the time this video was made. Which was six months ago (Not on Youtube).

  • @rafbomb Get angry was an advertisement on Escapist? Get Angry was on advertisements, I get advertisements on my videos as part of a youtube partnership program, but the advertisements 99% of the time have nothing to do with my actual opinion. The only 1% of the time, being the few weeks the new Conan the Barbarian was Advertised on my youtube channel, and I was talking about that movie a lot at the time.

His opinion may have changed in six months, if not I still question his logic.

  • @Bluemagus Oh god. This video is GOOD compared to his first ones on The Escapist. Most people hated it, and it changed. I don't watch his videos, although he apparently has gotten a lot better since this one. His most recent video was on SOPA, and it's actually not bad.

  • @rafbomb I can only imagine how bad his videos are, if his terrible Defending Call of Duty video is competent in any way, shape, or form. The only Jim Sterling video I ever seen was the COD one, only because it popped up in my subscriptions box, I'm subscribed to the escapist because I enjoy Yahtzee, and I enjoy Unforgotten Realms. I watched his video out of curiosity,I wanted someone with an opposing opinion to defend COD competently. He didn't. That's why I made a video about it.

  • @Bluemagus Honestly, the best defense for CoD would be that it's fun. I highly suggest going to the website The Escapist as opposed to their Youtube. The latest ZP video on youtube is six months old. Oddly enough, his latest review(on the Escapist) was a comparison of MW3 and BF3. I have a feeling you would fit in the community of that website actually.

  • @rafbomb I've only got a passing interest in The Escapist, I prefer ThatGuyWithTheGlasses as a collection of reviewers, and even then only a handful of them manage to keep my interest.

  • I wish I was stupid and violent, then we'd see what's what.

  • I got yer pseudo-intellect right here!

  • I'm almost positive that Battlefield and Medal of Honor were around before Call of Duty.

  • @KratosBackflip Medal of Honor was, that I know for sure. But when Modern Warfare came out EA did a new Medal of Honor and from what I heard Carbon Copied what Modern Warfare did. Jim was blaming Medal of Honor for other FPS games copying Call of Duty, which baffled me, how could anyone who works as a professional critic say something so idiotic?

  • i was like wtf for the whole video....

  • Daisy, Daisy, Daisy Head Mayzie!.... sorry, Its the best comment i could think of.

  • Oh, and by the sound of his voice, I thought I was watching a Tarosan video.

    *shudders*

  • Is it just me or does Jim Sterling look like Otho from Beetlejuice?

  • This guy works for Destructoid? That can't be right.

  • This guy is starting to sound like a more flamboyant, brittish BBC considering he's shoving his opinion down other's throats and trying to insult anyone with a different opinion.

  • I'm sorry but who does this guy think he is? Pink from Pink Floyd's The Wall?!! Nice vid btw Danny!!!!

  • the zombies is the only real fun thing about CoD to me. if people don't like it, whatevs it's cool, I only really like the zombies anyway. but that is just me.

  • GOD DAME! YOU LOOK GOOD BLUE:} see geting out to see the sun from time to time can be a good thing

  • (continue..) The whole point is that the whole debate is utterly pointless and childish. The whole point of any video game is providing entertainment, whether it might be mindless or not. Entertainment is what counts, if COD entertains people(and it does occasionally with me) its fine. If you want to get intellectual discuss Hobbes, Locke or Descartes, not bloody videogames. Its sad and pathetic. I satisfy my desire for art with music, film making, painting and poetry, not with some random game.

  • @000theUnforgiven000 I've been doing independent study on philosophy for about 3-4 years now, and I disagree with your disagreement. I again reiterate, you don't see a lot of unintelligent people partaking in hobbies that require more thought, I understand the subjectivity of entertainment but denying that your intellect plays some integral role in your enjoyment of any kind of entertainment medium, is something I can't agree with.

  • @Bluemagus You are right, you do not see many unintelligent people partaking in hobbies that require more thought but that is not the point is it? Its not about stupid people not enjoying a Kubrick movie but reasonably intelligent people occasionally indulging in mindless fun. And that is where you are wrong. Everybody, no matter how intelligent, can enjoy mindless fun from time to time, from playing dodgeball to dancing in the club. Reflect about that

  • @000theUnforgiven000 That wasn't the point I was making, I'm well aware that intelligent people can indulge in mindless fun, I have a good number of intelligent friends who play Call of Duty, but my point was your hobbies, the games you like, and to the degree in which you enjoy them are largely dependent upon your intellect, and because of this your intelligence can be reflected on the games you like. That was the point I was making, not

    'intelligent people can't like COD".

  • Forget my last comment. Found it credited at the end XD.

  • I am an undergraduate in international politics in Oxford university, I compose music and my hobbies include philosophy, history and mechanical engineering. I would not define myself as a stupid person.I disagree with the idea that personal taste (especially in videogames) reflects in any way your own intellect. The main point of video games is being fun to play, and people fail to realize that concept of fun is entirely subjective. (continues..)

  • Look, dude, I think this is a good commentary, and I really don't mean to insult you, but...

How can you not know what to do in the one CoD4 level where you're essentially playing a rail shooter?

I played the game, and it took me five seconds to understand what to shoot at and how to best shoot it.

Just saying that your argument against the game's narrative doesn't hold water when you get confused by the variety level...

  • @TechmarineChris Is why I said "maybe it's just me" but I found the rail shooter segment to be confusing in the way it told me what the mission objective is, I've played it several times in some attempt to figure out what the objective is, I still to this day do not know what I am supposed to do. But I have played some of the other Modern Warfare games, as well as Black Ops, their narratives didn't impress me, they couldn't calm down to tell a story.

  • @Bluemagus Okay, mate. I understand, even though I replayed the level half a decade since I touched the last game and breezed through it.

I will agree on the ADD nature of the narratives of the latest CoD games, and that CoD4 was the first one to have such a confusing narrative. Personally, I find the CoD games that take place in World War II to be the most effective and coherent. World at War is still my personal favorite in the franchise.

  • also in what way you use your weapons and not everyone is good with the same weapons

in games like quake, unreal tournament, and a few others

no weapon except often the starter weapons(for unreal tournaments enforcer)

    are better then the others

it relies on the persons skill with their weapons not the weapons themselves

someone might be able to get more kills with a railgun then with a shotgun

or chaingun to a rocket launcher

and how much they have mastered their controls

  • i.e. Sniper:Ghost Warrior(COD knockoff)

    anyway great video

  • Deus Ex! *squeals and then makes yaoi-fan fiction between Page and Savage*

I don't like Call of Duty since a lot of the weapons feel like the same gun with slightly modified firing rates and damage, and the death streaks reward death, I used to play CS endlessly though, the little things they did somehow made the guns feel unique. Jim seems to be as good of a reviewer as TotalBiscuit is a 3D point and click puzzle adventure game player.

  • "as part of a balanced diet"

Or just having no standards when it comes to games.

  • Nice video. Just a tip, when u argue about gaming, keep it there, don't insert random insults, even if they r in fact a joke.

And I'm one of those that think games should be viewed as art and such. Its just that art has many different forms is what people tend to not understand.

  • @W1ndF4lc0n The fat jokes I made were kinda obligatory, I initially didn't want to include them but I was scrambling for any kind of comedic value. I also knew that somebody was going to make a fat joke anyway, so I may as well throw em out as a joke, even acknowledging they shouldn't be taken seriously, before I got a few comments calling the guy your standard meat and potatoes American fatass who plays COD all day.

Like I said, kind of Obligatory. They don't really weaken my points though.

  • I love that song vodka. It kicks ass.

  • i'm kinda surprised that you didn't include moba style games. but then again it isn't congruent to the whole fps thing jim was gasming over and maybe its not your thing

still, its a good example of games where preferably you get progressively better at with the tools you gain in the round, rather than "you have weapon now forever, kill mans with weapon"

  • Would skyward sword be art? It looks great. very colorful. I died on the 1st boss

_-_ His flamboyant power was to much! Sorry I play rpg type game's or platformers type games. fps is out of my element.

  • @KnightTheMage I would call Skyward Sword art, Legend of Zelda has always been very good with exceeding expectations.

  • Finntroll ftw
