Stop meddling with markets, with businesses.
Canada does not have a tax system that encourages over spending on housing through a home mortgage tax deduction and yet enjoys a home-ownership rate equal to or greater than that of the US. This removal of this tax deduction would be one immediate way we could increase the revenues the gov't collects. People can make choices about home ownership or renting based on a more realistic balance sheet and if it were phased in over a 3-yr time period would give people time to sell their homes.
I make less than $50,000 per year and I would be very happy to pay more in taxes to save our nation from further recession. Why is it that those making more than $250,000 are unwilling to do the same? I am weary of hearing that the wealthy are job creators when they are clearly not creating jobs in this country. 3. Simplify the tax code.
4. Decrease government employment
