There are two points, performance point and excesive point, if you want a computer that can run almost any applicacion, a $1000 pc will do the job, from that point, is just bragging stuff. Unless your a professional, and use a 200k pc, to do extreme complex simulations, or extreme detail pc graphics. but i like your pc, in my opinion thats one of the best cases out there...

8400 sucks, you need 8800 AT LEAST and look for something that has an "x" in the number like 8800gtx

Thats a pretty nice rig, but I personally don't see the need for such a deluxe build, what do you do with your computer you need all this stuff? I built my first rig last week, parts cost 600, other little add on type things were another 50. I mean hey, I love it, take care of it and keep it clean. Plays COD6, Borderlands, Fallout 3, etc. I mean if I had the money I would get it a little more "pimped" but hey it works for me. AMD PHEMON DUAL CORE 3.1 GHZ. 4GB DDR3,500 GB HDD, 9600 GT VID.

Well I can say I built my Rig, and Yep it's the 1st computer I've ever built.

Hardest bit was USB headers, and cutoff for water pump - blue wire. Its a relief when it posts I can tell you and theres no leaks etc. BUT if your not confident building stuff I understand that you'd get someone else to build it up for you. Its a nice rig, hope you enjoy it.

I'd say you should be able to push it to about 3.4ghz without much trouble.

It mainly makes a difference when editing video, and stuff that makes use of the CPU's mutli core threads. Games dont really need much from the CPU its the graphics cards doing the most work with games, and sure thing 3.0 on the intel i7 processor is insane all bu itself.

Don't think the water cooling is necessary if you are going to run it conservatively. you can even push a little higher with air. good call of upgrading to the ssd it will make a huge difference. nice setup in general tho. maybe you can work on the positioning of the monitor and speakers.
