  • Greg knows how to use his hands so well...that guitar is having an orgasm!!

  • Even EVH would have to congratulate Greg on how well he can double hand tap. His whole style and technique just form the greatest thing ever known to Guitars.

  • Damn. I really want to play over this track now. Time to start analyzing chords

  • Absolutely unbelievable. The only, and I mean ONLY, thing I didn't care for is the sliding thing he did in place of vibrato. Does he ever use conventional vibrato? I don't think I saw/heard it once. The sliding thing sounds too spastic for my taste, but man ... the chops, the phrasing, and the note choices were amazing.

  • @beagleguitar That's very much his style. He prefers doing that over conventional vibratos but he definitely has done the conventional way before

  • @beagleguitar He actually does it a few times in the 20 first seconds or so :P

  • GregHowe is one of the Best in this style I would do anything to be able have the time to put more practice in this style of guitar solo playing. The chords are the easiest but the guitar solo is challenging. I like Greg Howe creativity in his choice guitar phrasing in this song Truly AMAZING

  • G3 is too white, Greg wil add what Tony MAc Alpine started.. both should be G3 Mk 2, the Real version.. Ye.

  • Super!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • His slide vibrato is so cool!!!!

  • that was so f'ing sick!

  • beautiful guitar player, always has been period!

  • Agree…amazing solo…..I guess this puts to rest, to some extent, that Howe plays with very little lyricism. There is no question he has enormous skill and a unique melodic sense ,,,but at times, to me anyway, he seems to be playing at a breakneck speed simply to prove that he can do so…Music for me will also be the perfect note struck at the perfect moment…that note or notes do not necessarily have to be played at astonishing speed..

  • Very good!

  • Fuckin' brilliant

  • For my Sins, I play the Drums, but even I know when there is a master playing in the house.....and that is Mr G. Howe!......

  • Brazilian Rosewood. That's what he needs. Not being a connoiseur, I'd just like to say Greg plays the most delicious sounds I have ever heard - and his skill is outrageous - outrageously brilliant, that is.

  • Nice player...Tone is a little too much, you know the overdrive takes the sweetness out of the tone...Could be just that nothing sounds very good on YouTube or computers...Could also use less notes, and say more, but that's youth for you.

  • @heavytoon5150 are you deaf or something? either that or you forgot to turn your volume up

  • Nigga got chopz!

  • He is the best!

So is his Axe FX ;)

  • Fuckin' amazing solo!!

  • 1:00

    Lick :)

  • Are 66 people deaf?

  • marshall or cornford advertisment?? choise is yours!!!!!!

  • Play that shit Greg!:)

  • 1:02 the lick!!!

  • @KevenHyun

    lollllllllllllllllllll

  • @KevenHyun hahahaha yes!

  • No bend in jazz Greg.... bending has no place in standard jazz

  • @plop200 Wow...really? So in order to make great sounds, one must adhere to the rules.

  • @plop200 good thing he's playing fusion then

  • @plop200 it's Fusion

  • @plop200

    1. Because this is standard jazz...

    2. Because jazz means you have to go by the standard rules?

  • @RadioJack Thats rubbish, music goes beyond standard rules, would you have said that to charlie parker when he broke the rules??

  • @RadioJack apologies i misread your comment

  • pantat!

  • What kind of hairband does he use?

  • @detroidxl haha...

  • 굿(good)굿(good)베리(very)

  • Why is there no room on TV for the likes of Greg ? No ! I mean this. Why not ? Surely as this place is slowly but surely turning to shit and we see all the unfairness and injustice, the greedy win big and the good suffer when the greedy lose a cent. Why is Gregs good grace and talent not highlighted to show us that the POWER of music and art are the REAL inspiration, the magic key, if you will, to show us the way forward...TALENT inspires people, hense, Greg is one of the top go to guys in music

  • I play what I like to class as extremely technical math metal... and I gotta say man, although I wouldnt wanna play in this genre, that was apsolutely stupidly fucking mentally amazing and my respect is all yours!

  • @WillPoulton09

Ironically enough though, as he started his career as heavy-head-bangin'-metal as you could get!

  • it's ridiculously good.

  • I love this song

  • That's not a capo that's a hair tie to damp the strings. So you don't hear open strings.

  • this is what my heart feels like on a sunny day...!!!

  • I discovered this vid and Greg by accident when the views were around 400,000. I think I've added about four hundred myself, and turned a lot of people on to his playing. It's pretty much all been said here in one way or another, but from one old guy who loves to discover new players, this is fucking inspiring. I have to come back every week or so for a little fix. Thanks Greg...

  • Oh god, you OWN that. That's awesome in so many ways. o/

  • i love his tone, this guy rocks

  • TOO GOOD

  • Thats not a capo dumbass!!!!!!!

  • 0:00 to 2:33 Without capo ; 2:33 to 2:46 Capo 4; 2:48 to 3:40 Capo 2; 3:40 Capo 1... WTF! Magic!

  • @Zklftw ....what?

  • @Zklftw not a capo, just a hair band to dampen the strings for the tapping sections. Makes it sound cleaner

  • @Zklftw man, its not a capo.. its a ponytail holder, to mute the strings when you make tapping or pull off/hammer ons..

  • Greg plays so well and with style. Great amp, great sound and great TONE!

    P.S. like the hairband trick

  • Greg plays with it all...heart, mind, and soul. Great player and great composer.

  • Greg Howe is very excellent and cool!

  • Esse tema não se assemelha a "Dinorah, Dinorah" do ivan lins?? ótima execução...

  • one of the greatest solos of ALL time.. and if u don't agree i really don't give a fuck!

  • @dSb4guitar i agree

  • @dSb4guitargreg this is bryan mandell the dude that works w/greg marinoi do the vox i wanna comend the lessons he took from you his ideas changed for the better.fantastic!

    bryansmandell@comcast.net

  • @dSb4guitar - I agree!

  • man, awesome tone.

  • when he performed in Israel, all the people got to the first row to shake his hand, and i hated waiting so i got up and gave him a hug.

that was a really good night :)

  • You do realize the most pretentious thing another player can say to an absolute giant like this guy is: I don't like your tone? Really? Is that all you can say after this? I don't like your tone? That's all you've got?

  • I recommend Choi Woo Joon - Jang nan III

  • Right guitar fusion sound.

  • I don't like his Vibrato and Slide.......

  • Howe does he do it?

  • greg, i met you once when we were kids, in high school. you were damn good then. always enjoyed your playing.you showed me a riff that i was having trouble with at the time.the clap, by steve howe,i believe. hope all is well, and the bills are getting paid.

  • I don't like his tone...

  • @JaySon33883 Make a video response of your playing, let's hear YOUR tone *nods*

  • @MikeToddOnline, @Theblob516

whoa whoa guys, optimistically enough, he didn't say "I think his tone is bad," all he said was that he didn't like his tone. it's all subjective, really. different blokes, different strokes.

  • @JaySon33883 I don't like your tone mister

  • @JaySon33883 Great, that's your opinion. Stupid as it is, it is your opinion.

  • BEAUTIFUL MUSIC AND FANTASTIC GUITARRIST!!!

  • I listen to it again and again

  • Fantastic

  • What is his guitar ?

  • @musicomaniac62 i think its a custom esp horizon

  • love how every one talks so much shit about everything on you tube but hey guess what your not a famous musician and they are

  • Howe needs to come to the states

  • @Toporaq He lives in the states lmao

  • capo is alive !!

  • birdsall 4 Lyfe

  • The first time I watched this video I choose to discover fusion..Before this I hate it. When you hear a guitar player with this incredible melodic taste the only thing you can do, is make treasure of it. Now I MUST watch this video regularly. It's a drug. Maybe one day I will do the same. MAYBE.

  • he does a lot of things with 3 notes that i cant do with the entire pentatonic scale =/

  • i am glad i came over here to see greg he is a great player he is not malmsteen he is about 1-10 as good the music greg is playing here is horrible it is a bunch of crap

    it is not jazz.

  • i love cornford amps so much. best amps ever

  • @celermail yea man about to buy my first can't wait! =D

  • 64 people have no taste. no bullshit.

  • @mojoefly: >no

    You misspelled "different."

Don't worry, I won't hold it against you.

  • Greg was so different from ANY of the shredders of the 80's...his first solo album confirmed that....his approach to soloing was unmatched by anyone from that time....I guess it's something that good guitar players seem to notice because of their knowledge of the technical as well as emotional side of playing a solo.

  • this fucking guy is a GANGSTER

  • Catchy, virtuosic, Jazzy. This “jam”should be sold on a record. Greg used to be an 80’s shredder in the same vein as Yngwie Malmsteen. His playing was extremely fast and sounded more like a guitar flat picking exercise then music intended strictly for listening. Luckily he has matured extremely well with age, unlike Malmsteen. He uses the fast picking as a tool to colour the music. He now only occasionally wanks off into shredder oblivion. I hope he keeps going down this path.

  • @ThePeterpatch Yngwie Malmsteen is brainless compared to Greg and any other guitarist, even Kurt Cobain.

  • @whatstheoutcomeof

    @ThePeterpatch

You 2 are retarded if you honestly think Yngwie is that brainless. Anybody who has learned Arpeggios From Hell knows how much of a genius Yngwie is. If he wasn't so arrogant he would lose OVER half of the haters.

  • @Fluffypopcicle

I never said anything about Yngwie being brainless, far from it, I think he has a high level of technical ability and an advanced grasp of music theory grounded in classical music. However his creative output is, IMHO, generally cold, overstated, and centered heavily on techniques like sweeping arpeggios. His playing is so fast that it blurs the line between what is a chord and what is single note picking. I just can't stand listening to his music it is boring to me.

  • @Fluffypopcicle just listen to arpeggios song, it's just a bunch of fast arpeggio! yes, arpeggio is technically difficult to play, but if you use it in a whole song it shows that you're not creative at creating melody, and the chord progreesion in that song is not creative too, just like any other Yngwie's songs. But yeah, if you like to enjoy music like enjoying circus, then it must be very entertaining for you.

  • @whatstheoutcomeof Its a bit different of an aspect in soloing to use a lot of arpeggios but nevertheless using a lot of argpeggios can show good harmonic sense. You know there are different arpeggios besides A minor and diminished?

  • @Fluffypopcicle doesnt take a genius to play the same group of arpeggios over and over... just takes dedication to play them fast... different story.

  • @whatstheoutcomeofisafag

  • exelente violero!!

  • 64 insecure people.

  • quel feeling !!

  • u re just crazy man, didnt think is possible to do that on guitar

  • the phrasing!! the note choice!! the tone!!

  • Beautifully fluid... Loved every minute of that !!

  • what key is this in? sounds like A minor to me

  • @caldy19870305 indeed A minor

  • He came yesterday to rosario, argentina. He gave a masterclass clinic. Wonderful

  • Horribly SO GOOOD;

  • Anyone else here think his tone is completely stunning? If his guitar tone were a woman, people would drop over dead, she'd be so damn beautiful.

  • Fluid and with feeling....

  • great!

  • one of the top ten most amazingest guitarist that are underated,

  • jimi hendrix's son

  • @nadinobolado

no if it was hendrix'es son he would be dressed in womens clothes and got a sex change, true story, jimis only son had a sex change he lives in sweden

  • @BossHawgification proof?

  • @slashy04 the proof is in his guitar playing , and the way other guitarists, whom aren't nearly as good get more credit for their playing.

  • I cant find the mp3 to this song..does anyone know the real name of the song?

  • @NoEmOs14

it's simply "Sunny" by Bobby Hebb ;)

  • Greg, I love the way you play. (You resemble Jimi Hendrix.) You're a great guitarist.

  • Greg Howe's hot...

  • Goddamn! I am so jealous of his phrasing and fluidity

  • He's not that good… … … ok he is

  • suena a introduccion de pelicula porno de los 90

  • fucking amazing !!

  • Jesus, Greg seems to be so chilled, and those slides almost cut my fingers..

  • best guitarist ever

  • forget november rain, this is killer!!!

  • Does anyone know what ESP model he's playing? Or is it just custom made for Greg?

  • que bonita musica

  • this is probably the best thing ever played on an ESP.I'm a metal fan & i'm considering Metallica of course but this guy is just EPIC!!!!

  • Só tenho duas palavras para definir essa execução ...

    DO CARALHO !!!

  • Great! very feeling! total presence

  • This is the greatest fucking piece of guitar work ever!!!

    3:00 is nucking futs man

  • this is freaking terrific !!

  • there are 64 ignorants that think speed while playing is the shit to be succesful!

  • tabs?... LOL :p

  • @mrmustachee

this is freakin' impossible to tab out xD

  • Went to a clinic with Greg and he said that the slide vibrato is a minor third up and a semitone below

  • a lot of positional riffing, accented with some vertical vibrato on the one

  • Ladies and gentlemen.........a great artist

  • god this solo is so bomb

  • I still can't do slide vibrato.. Greg is the man!

  • amazing cool playing! I like it very much

  • You know, I'm a great believer that love has certain sounds. What i mean is, it triggers something deep within me, when I hear children laughing, or the sounds of people happy, I get a big kick out of that, not enough of that in this world if you ask me, anyway, you know what I mean, don't deny it, deep within you and I we're not so different...The joy that Greg gives me is a lot like the heat of the sun on my face. This world is a great place with the likes of Greg on it...G...

  • I don't even listen to this genre but He's is master of all techniques. Legend and capture great emotion on the guitar. Inspiring.

  • He actually is one of the best ever...also has a 'right up there' beautiful flamenco style also

  • Nice take on this song. Tasty licks.

  • I found a new use for my girlfriend's hair ties. Thanks, Greg!

  • Great guitarist!!!

  • dejaste la caga compare ajajja

  • Great musicianship and swinging!

  • Greg makes me want to puke! I have loved him since the Varney days in the mid 80's, and he has become even more amazing......I want to play like this some day, but I am 45, so I guess I better practice some more!

  • It's a hair band. Mutes the strings. Love this track

  • What's the purple thing at the nut that he moves around periodically? Some kind of built in capo?

  • @fix135 that is a hair bobble :P it just dampens the strings so that if he does a big string bend or something, other strings won't ring out

  • è un genio! ma dico veramente lui e gathrie gli ainstein della musica!!

  • Think about it, how do you do a normal vibrato? You bend up to a point and come back down to the original fretted point and then go back up to the fixed point again and again. Well that's what he's doing, he's going say from 12th fret to 15th fret and sliding, not going outside of the 12th to 15th fret range. If you go outside of it then the slide vibrato sounds out of control.

  • only one word for this:KILLER!

  • wow thats all I can say

  • that dudes vibrato is unmistakable ..... trait of a truly great player.....

  • he is freaking good.used to think steve vai is the only genius but i guess i was freaking wrong. although they play slightly different!

  • greg.....he,s the man.i once heard it said of a different guitarist many years ago and i quote "you could easily believe he grew up without ever hearing another guitarist"nuff said.i really enjoy the opinions of others on the multitude of guitar greats we are blessed with.with

  • Fantstic!!! I love the lick he plays at 3.08 Does anyone know what arpeggios hes playing?

    Thanks

  • Damn son. That's all I can say.

  • just killin!

  • @alyomaya Lol actually this is really true, because I'm not very good and can't do anything near this kind of stuff. But hey, I want a nicer, more playable guitar than the one own and I can't afford much.

  • Greg's version on "Sunny" really brightens up my day and it's overcast outside!

  • nice guitar but I would recommend Ibanez rg 350 exz bk;0 good , very good technique;)

  • Him and Guthrie Govan should be on the next G3 tour :)

  • i thought he was endorsed by laguna.

  • @Fluffypopcicle This video was shot before his endorsement deal with Laguna.

  • I legit just had an orgasm,. I'm a dude.

  • what a prodigy. this guy has mastered technique.

  • why is it only showing my views?

  • THIS is amazing. Do you think I could get good tone to do this kind of stuff out of ESP's lower LTD models?
