  • MUST WATCH.

  • One of the BEST films to come out of Hollywood in decades. So it didn't have any car-chasers,nor did it have any sex scenes,or an abundance of swearing, drugs, violence etc.THAT'S what made this a simply stunning film.Streep was riveting,& scarey as hell, lol.PSH & Amy Adams were equally amazing. All in all this had me on the edge of my seat. Those who found it boring or not 'active' enough simply didn't 'get' the story! Also, knowing the mentality of nuns from that era would help!

  • This movie sucked

  • So... whats this movie about? lesbian nuns getting all horny over a priest?

  • @lexmark136 fail .

  • Only just watched this....superb piece of filmmaking, with outstanding performances by all. Loved it.

  • I think the priest is innocent. He moved away not because he was guilty, rather He just want things and nonsense accusation get done. This will be proven by the line he said to sister Aloysius "I will not fight you " . The priest fatherly loved the boy and give sympathy to him because of the situation.

  • This had to be one of the dumbest movies I have ever seen. It was so boring, and the entire thing felt so pointless! I learned nothing from it, because there was no form of a lesson presented to the audience. How the heck did it have 5 academy award nominations? It was terrible.

  • @breanna34 try and find the deeper meaning .

  • this is why my mom loves Meryl Streep

  • PEDOBEAR approves this!!! xD

  • oh, i might watch it now, seems pretty interesting movie to watch...

just got confused with the trailer, thats why..

  • Love this movie, love the characters in it, they're all so experienced actors! Feel so sad the movie is like 1.5 hours, too short for me to enjoy their acting.

  • is this movie worth watching??

what is the accusation to the priest??

  • Ok, according to John Patrick Shanley (the author), the ending is intentionally left vague as to what Meryl Streep meant by saying she has doubts. It is left to the viewer to draw their own conclusions and to question why would they answer that way. In other words, why are you so certain that the priest was guilty; or why did it bother to think he was falsely accused. The play was intented to make us examine ourselves and how we view situations such as this.

  • what happened to the boy ?

  • i have seen this movie and as soon as meryl was on the screen, i just couldn't take my eyes off her. she is absoulutely fantastic in this movie! i just couldn't believe it!

  • Just saw this and watched it six times over the weekend. Meryl Streep gave what I think is her finest performance. One of those performances that a few actors have given in their 50s/60s when their every gesture, every expression, belongs to the character they play. I put her in the company of Katherine Hepburn in Lion and Winter and Anthony Hopkins in Remains of the Day.

  • Meryl is AMAZING in this movie! Love her!

  • Meryl is incredibly good in this movie!!!

  • I love the song that comes up at 2:12! I really want to know the name of it! And I really want to watch this movie lol. It looks really good. I already love it! 10/10 stars!

  • This movie was fantastic, couldn't have casted it better, the whole cast was great especially meryl streep is amazing. I love how it leaves the audience unsure as to the answers. It leaves the audience with a little doubt on both sides

  • look at 1.21 : I can fight you sound like I can "FUCK" u....LOL

  • The priest was guilty. If you had watched the film you would have noted that she lied; Meryl's character lied about having called the Priest's last school and place of employment, and when he left he indirectly admitted to wrong doing...

  • i loved this movie

  • This movie was absolutely phenomenal.

  • I like how the message can be applied to many different things. Anyone who gossips and is malicious or condescending or thinks they are so certain should see this film. Also, it's sad just how many women are as aggressive and manipulative as Sister Aloysius.

  • Awesome movie! he's such a good actor, watched it already online at "watchit4free" - google it!

anyone know if a sequels coming out? hope so lol :P

  • omg i love meryl streep one of my favorite actress together with judi dench and kate winslet

  • so would anyone be so nice and kind to tell me - was he guilty of the things she claim him to be guilty of? or not?!

  • and is the plot of this movie a story about how a priest molests a little boy and how this nun (played by meryl streep) plans to expose the preist?

  • yes. that is exactly what happens in the movie. but at the end the nun says she has doubt. she is not sure whether the priest is guilty or not...

  • I think the movie makes it clear, at least indirectly so, that the priest is NOT actually guilty. I don't think, as some might be suggesting, that it leaves it open for us to decide.

  • first of all youre suppose to decide for yourself if he's gulity or not cuz the movie gives you enough evidence for both, and at the end where she says she has doubts, its not about whether the priest is guilty or not, she's having doubts about her religion.

  • He was guilty, she walked in while they were doing confession.

  • There really is no way to tell.. from the film. It leaves the issue "open" or ambivalent. Different people will fall on different sides, but there is no real way to know for certain just from what one sees. Very interesting film, and well done. Many WERE guilty; and surely there were instances of "false accusation" and misunderstanding.

  • The movie is great - human nature is cruel, bad and disgraceful and we have to work on improving oursleves. Unfortunately, the religious standards most of the time, do not alow us to tryly improve that nature - more just to cover it. It gives a service of cosmetics to a person... Religion as a teaching for moral purpose doesn't work...

  • Well, I am sorry to tell, you but by traveling a lot around the world and getting to know many religiuos countries... I came to the conclusion, that the most chaos, uncivilized behavior, dishonesty, crime and dissorder and in this worl exist in those countries where people talk a lot about GOD... eventualy this observation made me become antireligiuos.

  • i think i remember seeing a trailer for this in theaters.

  • The only religion that can co-exist with science is buddhism

  • Yeah, but buddhism isn't actually a religion, since it has no gods,

  • Hmm I don't think it's necessary for a religion to have gods

  • O rly?

  • Meryl was electrifying in this movie indeed....she deserved all that she won for this part and more....Phillip Seymour Hoffman was great as Father Flynn as well

  • "You just want things to be resolved so you can have simplicity back."

that has to be one of the best lines of the film! BRILLIANCE!

  • i just gotten done watching this movie and it's brillant.

  • Comment removed

  • The acting by all of them without exception is just super !!

  • The interpretation I took away from Streeps final lines that she has doubts-was NOT AT ALL that she doubted Father Flynns' guilt-but rather, she regretted going so far to push him out because like she said- he got a promotion and was now Pastor of another school -were no one could watch over him. Back in the 1960's no nun EVER stood up to a priest. NEVER. So- as she says-his resignation was his admission. An innocent priest would have had HER removed. .

  • One more thing....THE OSCARS WHERE RIGGED!!! >:O

  • I love how at the end of this film the name DOUBT literally plays big....Movies like these are bril.

  • I agree that the blond boy seemed happy when he heard that Father Flynn was leaving.

  • THE PRIEST IS NOT GUILTY HE LEFT BECAUSE HE DIDN'T WANT PPL KNOWS BOUT THE BLACK KID SEXUAL ORIENTATION PLUS FOR HIS WeLFare...remenber when davis told streep dat his father beat him up and if the rumors were true he would kill him,etc...theres a lot of key elements in da movie 4 u 2 know who's innocent or guilty.plus she never had proof, just DOUBTS......IS UP 2 U!?

  • he is a KID not a "black kid" you twit.

  • well technically he is a black kid, but i get ur point

  • its not a crime to refer to him as a black kid. most of the kids in the trailer were white. if it was a movie with mostly black kids and one white you would say the "white kid".

  • Meryl is brilliant.

  • what powerful performances!

  • You suck.

  • shut up douche bag...

  • ssab420....this movie is a great movie...i predict a movie that is going to be talked about for a long time....it probably "sucked" cuz you didnt pay attention and you expected it to be straight forward....a movie that leaves you thinking is a great movie. and if your not open to that...keep your comments to yourself cuz you're making yourself seem ignorant.

  • I dont think im ignorant, im just voicing my opinion...u liked the movie & i didnt. (and yes i did pay attention to the movie & yes i understood it) so maybe he was guilty or maybe he wasnt...hmmmm cant stop thinking about it.

  • wow i love meryla streep and her acting i want to see this

  • i love meryl streep. :]

  • i love meryl streep. :]

  • She should have won that Oscar, instead of that damn kate winslet.

  • you know what....some of these roles were great...angelina jolie, kate winslet and of course the legend meryl streep.

this movie was great; since it begins.....and honestly amy adams role was alot better than penelope cruz.

the intensity of the film is great and keeps the audience at the edge of their seats...but again....there were some great movies out last year...it was a tough competition

  • And Mickey Rourke should have won over Sean Penn - who already has an Oscar.

  • I agree. And while I think Kate Winslet did a wonderful job, her performance was hardly as electrifying as Meryl's...this is one of the best performances in film history, right along with Day Lewis' "There Will Be Blood"

  • while i agree religion has no place in the world since I'm an athiest . Its not religiion that spreads evil but the people who preech it and miss the point of the religion

  • well , there is one phrase that i like though , ive heard it somewhere from some horror movie it goes " evil is your creation " the main character said that to a church do and get punched after that

  • Right on!!!

  • Exactly. In this case, Father Flynn was obviously guilty, but no one believed Sister Aloysius. And you know why? They didn't want it to be true. I'm not trying to be rude to ANYONE or any religion, but he totally got away with it, because he had allies; the other men in that church. Don't get me wrong, I love this movie completely, but the man was an absolute hypocrite, and a liar. He was so obvious about what he did it wasn't even funny.

  • Meryl Streep Is such a good actress, she can go from part to part.

She went from Donna To Sister Aloyuis

  • Meryl "i will step outside the church if that what needs to be done, though the door should shut behind me, though i'm damed to hell! you should understand that, or you will mistake me."my favorite part of the movie

  • upshaw26 your the fuck up neither catholics nor any religon is a fuck the CHURCH is but just cause some priests rape and shit, doesnt mean its gods doing it just means there is no exception for human evil. the curch may be corrupt but religon is not.

  • this movie was amazing. good job once again meryl streep. The dialogue for this movie was phenomenal.

  • this film does not talk abotu whats really going on meanwhile how many priest walk aroudn free after years of touching little kids i bet you go to chruch dont you?? if so ur just a sheep who needs to open ur eyes to whats really going on?? do you give chruch money? you know thats all bullshit rite they just want ur money!

  • when he says i can fight u it sounds like hes a wimp and the fact that streep said you will lose made it all that funnier

  • i heard that this movie was wonderful

  • I just saw this film a few days ago and I have not been able to stop thinking about it since. I think the movie really tests your compassion and tolerance. Having read a few reviews I now believe that the priest was gay, and that was the reason he was driven out of other parishes.

All in all a top movie - I cant wait to watch it again!!

  • The priest wasn't gay!! The priest was a good man.. The reason he was driven out is because that lady was nuts. That is why she said ''I doubt'' at the end of the movie.. I am not angry at the nun for doing that but that priest was such a good man.. When he hugged the black kid he showed that everyone is equal.

This movie has made my christian belief stronger.

  • meanwhile how many priest walk aroudn free after years of touching little kids i bet you go to chruch dont you?? if so ur just a sheep who needs to open ur eyes to whats really going on?? do you give chruch money? you know thats all bullshit rite they just want ur money!

  • you miss the point of the movie! he show guilt by transferring schools! if he had nothing to hide the truth would have set him free!! she had no evidence and only her certainty and he know that! the kid is gay and priest know that fact! it not trying to paint Christian are bad people but the reality that we live in!

  • such a great bobie.. i mean movie..sorry..no really. it's a great movie, i think the movie theme was not a critic no catholism or church (directly) the obejtive was to show the humanism in people, their problems like the priest, the black family or the mother superior..

  • um no.. That film did focus on that but this film was greatly influenced on catholocism.. This is our true religion.. All other religions fuck up the world. Sorry for the language.

  • Catholics are the biggest bunch of fuck ups you can think of. All religion is poison and has no purpose. It's a man made fairy tale.

  • I was reading some comments about the movie, and some people were saying that "DOUBT" is a cheap-Hollywood movie and it also insults the Catholic church.

I think that this movie shows REALISM!

I do not want to GENERALIZE, but unfortunatelly that's what happens in the Catholic church!

I worked as an altar-boy when I was younger, and I have many friends who were sexually abused, and afterwards were blackmailed by the priest/pastor.

I think "DOUBT" is an OUTSTADING REALISTIC movie!

  • I was an alterboy all through grade school and served Mass for some of the most holy and devout priests. Priest who give their life to Christ and his Church. There is no doubt the sex abuse scandal was terrible, but thankfully, there are more solid men in the preisthood than perverts. This looks like a good movie, but Diary of a Country Priest is much better.

  • The priest did not sexually abuse the kid.. He was set up!! THat is why the nun said " I Doubt" at the end of the film.

  • She had doubts because she didn't have sufficient proof. I'm convinced that he was guilty of molesting the blond kid & it was only a matter of time before he started on the black kid, assuming he hadn't done anything to him already.

  • I hope this movie shows the realistic side of things cause in reality when you mess with black peoples children in this nasty way, you dont live long enough to argue your case instead you get a free one way ticket to meet your creator.

  • lmfaoooo

  • Would not be surprised if Streep, Hoffman, and Adams take 3 of the 4 Acting awards for Oscar this year. My heart wants Mellisa Leo --- but Streep IS phenomanel!

  • one of the best films for the oscar

in my opinion meryl streep is a real genious

    one of the best actress

    from argentina bs aires

  • The scene between Streep and Davis is nothing short of an earth shattering five minutes of raw power and emotion. This film was phenomenal!

  • Hey people Its funny to read your coments!!

Some are cheerfull while the others complain!!!

You are quite a show yourself!

    You noticed that?

  • this looks like an amazing movie.

  • cant wait to see this one. philip seymour hoffman is one of the few actors that's equal to b paired with meryl streep.

  • um, does anyone know what song is used through out the trailer?

  • STOP WITH ALL THE BAD COMMENTS,

    JUST STOP IT!

the people who made those comments just need to grow up! we dont need your bad comments

  • Agreed!

  • Ok, I watched the movie yestarday. Check it out....was def interesting. Why Viola Davis received a golden globe & sag award nominations are not quite clear to me.

    Whatever, it's worth watching it.

  • why do people always have to freakin argue on YouTube comments? GET OVER IT!

  • I DO agree with you. They always get angry and insulting while they're watching those videos...

  • man that old lady is a bitch, lol i just wanna hit her witha baseball bat

  • That would be meryl!

  • the movie was fantastic. also, it's based on a play so you might want to take it up with the playwright (for those of you who think it's just a bullshit hollywood movie). it's about philisophical issues and the human condition; it just so happens that the story aspect involves the church, etc. Try not to be so quick to judge: you might be missing out on something good.

  • my friend is going to the premiere in new york city for this (:

  • Why not chill and enjoy two great performances by Meryl Streep and Phillip Seymour Hoffman. We have had it up to our asses with this ridiculous war. If you want to spend your time stressing over the war in irak and Gauntanamo then by all means do. Since 2001 one we have all been under a dark cloud. Let's all get back to enjoying life and let our crooked government do what they will. They will do it anyway. With or without the blessing of the American People. This will be a great film. can't wait

  • yeah lets go back to making fun of catholics! good times.

  • lmao!

  • Lets go back to being immature..oh wait, you already are. Let's grow up and show some common human respect.

  • it was sarcasm you retard... im catholic.

  • OK lets BE Catholic and not insult people, especially a fellow Catholic. Secondly, its HARD to tell if its sarcasm or not by just reading words.

  • ok lets learn to take a joke. I don't care if your insulted because thats your own deal.

  • Last time I checked calling someone a retard wasn't taken as a joke. I think you are taking this to heart too much and are getting too much into it. There's no need for your harsh comments. Just leave it alone.

  • grow up.

  • I think you have some personal prblems that need to be resolved. Apparantly you are not comfortable losing an arguement. I think you need to do the growing up and stop fighting with a 17 year-old.

  • an argument? i think you need to resolve some of your own fuckin mental problems if you think this is an argument.

OH MY GOD YOUR 17?!?! shit im shaking in my shoes.

  • If it is not an arguement, why do you keep it up? Let's stop here.

  • gay conversation!

  • Thank you for contributing your valuable input.

  • someone post that 'Arguing on the Internet is like running in the Special Olympics. Even if you win, youre still retarded' jpeg.

    seriously...this is not 1999

  • From this trailer alone I can tell that Meryl Streep is on her way to another Oscar.

  • hope she does, she deserves it

  • YEA MIKE!

    ino that blond kid

  • Boy oh boy this looks amazing! They will all get nominated for sure!

  • Can I get a hell yeah?

  • Thanks for sharing! I LOVE this. Meryl is at her best! <333

  • Meryl is the best!!!!!! Her acting is amazing!!!!! After being nominated and missing out on an oscar 10 times since her last oscar win in 1983 (for Sophie's Choice) it would be interesting to see her acceptence speech if she ever wins another oscar. I think her acting looks amazing in this film!

  • wow!

    I wait!!!
