They still make only 280 hp rated (may be higher) because of Japan's Gentleman's law. Austrailia still gets the detuned (260 hp) model as Japan's cars are tuned for 100 ROM from the factory. I have a 99 RSK and man... It is fun!

TIT! the 2.5 motor in the standard legacy generates 170hp, this is a modified GT which has a erm i forget the turbo number but what eva, it is turbocharged, intercooled the works just not as much as the sti, it has exactly the same'motor' as the sti and all other impreza's

no it wouldnt make a difference. the only difference between the engine in the legacy and the STI is the turbo, intake manifold, and intercooler. the legacy has a smaller turbo, so a little less power

If you try and be a smartass and change it and the cops catch you,you'll be in the deep end. Ufortunately, even though most of us can drive at 180 with one hand, its a shame to have such good power under the hood that just cant be used.Highways are limited too. Least they're bout half the price in Japan ,L8R

its more like 115mph but you have the right idea, all jap imports are limited to 180kph in 5th gear but if you drop to 4th you can go faster than this... what most people do is buy an apexi RSM which will delimit the car and allow you to achieve the cars full potential

Vids a bit misleading video.Speedos in Japan on the legacy only go to 180. If you adjust it,when its time for getting your registration every 2 years,they make you re-adjust to 180. ....tbc

Trust me, I love the Legacy (and almost every other Subaru but I really love rally so it would be the impreza for me. I also like the outback and old wagons like th leone (i belive it is spelled).
