This is a very good version of the story, but I grew up watching the 1940 version starring Shirley Temple. I enjoyed this but feel that Gale Sondergaard may have been the better Tylette.

Hey there's actually a dvd of this movie, you can get it in Russia and it used to be available through amazon and it pops up on ebay from time to time. It's also on dvd in Japan. The movie is really bad and bizarre, something odd but that calls my curiosity, and there's Elizabeth Taylor and Jane Fonda! I only wish they could have filmed it entirely in US with a better script.

What a shame that this movie vrs of the stor is not as popular as the Shirley Temple one is; especially since this vrs has a plot slighlty more developed with more characters than the Shirley Temple vrs. Thank you, thank you so much for posting it!!!

Oh thank you, thank you sooo very much for posting this!! YOU HAVE NO IDEA how you have given me an incredible Christmas gift! As an infant, while living in the US, my mother taped me the Shirley Temple vrs of the story. Then, when I went to live in Italy, I saw on TV this version and I also fell in love w/ it (especially since Elizabeth Taylor is in it).

I have an uncle who use to have this on VHS and played it for my sister and i once when we were over his house. That was years ago and i had only seen it once. i thought it was just a dream, for a long time i wasn't sure if this movie really existed. My uncle also use play the song Bluebird on his hermonica.

Yeah, it's a bit sad that this movie is actually nowhere to found at US, since the Soviets holds the rights of this movie.
