i'm from london and i think swansea is a great place (been here 7 years). i live in brynmill, and the only thing that spoils it for me is the area is full of students playing music until 4am in the morning and being a bloody nuisance. its great during the summer break when they all bugger off back to where they came from...
@applemac555 You would find that if the students where not there then Swansea would be very much a poorer town for it! Students bring in a lot of revenue to the local businesses! Why don't you work with the students so that they are aware of the problems you face? For people living on their own for the first time they may need the communities help if the social side effects that their presence causes are to be resolved!
So Many people saying Australia is better. Keep your beaches with stingers and boxed Jellyfish. The shark attacks increasing, the humidity soaking wet and everything with more than two legs biting lumps out of you, a country where birds attack you in your garden in Spring and not only where you have to vote, but you have to say who you want to come second. I'm going home to Three Cliffs Bay
Shockingly ugly town, Swansea (apart from the seafront and the Gower). The only good thing you can say about Swansea is that's it's not as bad as Middlesbrough...
I was born there in 1953 and lived there untill I came to australia in 1980 to give my children a better life it was a very peacefull and quiet place I went back in 2004 and what a change drunk girls fighting in the middle of the road outside what used to be the top rank guys throwing up in gutters the place looked like a dump so much so that I moved my parents from there and have them with me in Australia at least we can walk the streets at night what a shame
My son (from Swansea) went backpacking around Australia. It's not such a squeaky clean place as people think. There are good and bad parts everywhere - including Australia and, in particular, Sydney. Friends from Melbourne and Cairns loved Swansea.
they might have loved Swansea for a holiday but I bet they would not want to live there, as for backpackers they are usually doing things on the cheap so stay in the not so nice areas, personally I never wish to return it is not the place that I remember , it was quiet decent and clean then but still with not much to offer in the way of career prospects hence the reason for our move to Melbourne.
really lovely slideshow

It was always a place where you could be attacked or asked for spare change. That's Swansea, love or hate it. I love it.
