Open Source Self Balancing Scooter

The scooter does balance by itself on grass (it dampens the movement). Sometimes it does start to oscillate as it is tuned to have the weight of a person on the platform.

Gearbox backlash is not significant enough to cause problems. New riders notice it more but only for a few minutes as they get used to riding.

Instead of complicated computerized device, analog sensors can be used in much easier DIY manner. Is that your solution?
