I'm flying Iberia and I"m scared. its a 7 hour flight and with those crappy tv's. I heard they re did the seats for a non low cost carrier and spain's national carrier that's unexeptable
Iberia sucks big time. One of the worst, if not the worst of the legacy carriers in Europe, North America, South America and Asia. Don't check your bag if you ever want to see it again. The cabins haven't been updated ever. The inflight entertainment is awful. The food is awful. And the cabin staff are surly and discourteous. There is a reason they under price everyone else. They don't have anything else to offer. But I promise you, fly them once, and you'll never fly them again.
I flew Iberia's a340-300 from MIA-MAD and MAD-BOS and both were possibly the worst flights ever. Iberia definitely needs to step it up. Their planes are disgusting and nothing works the way it should. The A/C and the reading lights were broken on our way to Madrid which made for a GREAT flight...
@FelixMies That's the idea.... All long-range fleet's cabins should be changed by 2013. Lets see how it show... The new A330 incoming are intended to give a much modern image as well. Also company's image will be changed.
Oh and By the way...do you really think you can rate an airline based on how smooth/hard the landing was????. You just did!!!...and guess what...you have no idea!!
There are LOADS of videos in this website showing takeoffs or landings recorded onboard many A340s from different airlines such as Swiss, Lufthansa, South African, Iberia, LAN etcetera, and MOST IF NOT ALL OF THEM show a lot of squeaking and rattling during takeoff/landing rolls. These are big aircraft we're talking about here so the cabin rattling is quite normal, unless of course you don't travel much, which seems to be the case here.
@Alf340 I have flown on many different A340 and A330 of various airlines. From my experience, the Iberia Cabins on longhaul jets are in urgent need of an upgrade since they do not compare to other competitors in the industry. Last week I flew on a Lufthansa A340 which was a really pleasant and quiet ride and whose overhead compartments produced far less rattling. In fact I can show you a whole list of widebody airline videos (just check out my channel) with a whole different sound environment.
for me as spanish is a real shame to see this..I don't fly iberia since there service is like in the 80s and then you hear them cry they lose passangers to other airlines....but I tell you thats spain nobody wants a change
It ratles like everything else at that moment and recorded with such equipmente and volume. But the most important thing is that you should have had your cam turned off for take off!!!!!
a lot of bitching for what seems like a regular airplane. if you dont like economy, dont fly economy. they are no worse than american, united, delta, british...
@jersonc From all of my economy-experiences (and I have flown on all of the above) the Iberia flights have been the most disappointing ones. You can get a really good value for the money you spend on a economy class flight and there are huge differences considering inflight service, seat comfort and cleanliness. There is no such thing as a standard economy class which you like to fly or not as you mentioned.
@cottoncandy9527able Iberia has a rather decent safety record, their planes may seem old and worn out, but I can guarantee you that they are safe to fly.
Wow really, I flew from Mexico City to Madred with Iberia in dec. 2009, and well, I must admit, the airplane was rusty and old, and the movies onboard were shitty, but the service and food onboard was pretty cool to me xD, Better than airfrance.
Iberia will be a great experience, as soon as they realize they must invest more!!! loos at this airplane my god we are in 2011 and it looks like a early 90´s cabin!!!
@johnsalchijohn They'll change all aircrafts cabin pending this following year. For 2013, all long-range aircrafts must be with a new cabin. Moreover, there're new A330 coming soon.
It certainly is a shame to see Iberia like this. Their service looks like a joke when compared to other European airlines like Lufthansa, Swiss, Air France, etc...
What a shame. Probably better off with Air Europa ;)
What a pity you had such a negative experience with Iberia. I often feel that way when I fly with Air Canada. I fault mainly their level of customer service, not their equipment, which is generally first-rate. Still, credits to you for putting this up and giving us a glimpse into Iberia's operations. You sure do get around!
@bagelboi66 It is a sad thing to see how many airlines are cutting down on their customer service nowadays. The good old days of flying seem to be over for most airlines. in europe there are airlines that do not even serve drinks on flights from northern europe to the canary islands which are up to 4 hours of flighttime. I always wonder how much further airlines will go to cut costs.

If they're powering down and stowing the video monitors, you ought to be powering down and stowing that camera too.

Are you allowed to record during taxi and take off?
Did you know that you were putting at risk the safety of that flight?

The registration of your aircraft was in fact EC-HDQ.
HotChilliSquirrel 7 months ago
@HotChilliSquirrel You're absolutely right.
FelixMies 7 months ago
The registration cannot have been EC-HGQ because that registration belonged to an Air Europa B738 at the time and still does.

Probably one of the worst aircraft I've seen.
May I suggest that this might be one of the earliest A340-300's made?
garlex134 1 year ago
@garlex134 That is not even the case. This particular example had its first flight in 1999 and the first A340 flew in 1993.
