Originally they were meant as boarding parties for privateers, used to seize control of enemy prizes. At the time called "Continental Marines", they were posted on the first US Navy ships that fought during the American Revolution.
It's a long and proud history of service to the United States. It's no wonder enemies of this country despise them.

Thanks man, I really appreciate it. OCS is actually shorter, its only 10 weeks. After that though I have TBS (The Basic School) for 6 months so that makes up for it. Then flight school for 16 months. You'll likely get to see some action before I get a chance to, in that sense I envy you. What MOS are you looking at?

Is that normal to get switched like that? Aviation to ground? Haha he wasn't complaining one bit though. Im security forces bro. I signed up for 5 yrs. 1 yr of training, 2 infantry and 2 Security Forces. Then after that its Recon!!!
