  • @Dr196903

    Thanks Vidhura!!

  • Dear Jude, I was able only to listen to it today..I dont know how to thank you for sharing this awesome rendition of " Danno Budunnge". The performance is exceptionally brilliant and so soothing to the ear. I think they have selected the proper song for this choir style. They are also brilliant under Soundarie David's direction.

By then way do you know who is the original singer of this song..Once again thank you so much for your wonderful sharing.

God bless you & your family.

    Regards

    Nelu

  • @manel08uk

    Hello Manel,

Good to hear from you, and thanks for the lovely comment. It is said that John De Silva wrote the song for Sirisngabo around 1920 and together with Devar Surya Sena the melody was adapted from a Wagner variation. Believe it was sung originally by Hubert Rajapakse. I have also heard of another version by Lawrence Perera from the same era. Not sure who the original artist though!

Best Regards and god bless to you and family too!

    Jude

  • @goonewj Dear Jude, Many thanks for your valuable info..I have heard Hubert Rajapakse's version and it seems rather old. Can't believe it was sung nearly 100 years ago..This may be one of our oldest sinhalece songs in history...Once again thanks a lot and see you again..

    All the best.

    Nelu Manel

  • Can some one please provide the lyrics in English of this beautiful song?

  • @proudgoan

    Thanks. Will try my best.

  • "Soul Sounds" are brilliant.....I think they have a nice arranger. I've seen a couple of videos too (on youtube) Thanks Jude for the lovely clip...!!

    Regards,

    Aruna

  • @guitarmanaruna

Thanks Aruna. Saundarie David is their director who is an accomplished pianist educated at the Royal College of Music London, and is a lawyer by profession. All of them are working full time and are singing for the love of music !!

    Rgds,
