@takadi Actually, the modern Japanese style and beauty standards have been going against the older beauty standards. Now the girls are being rebels against the light skin dark hair beauty of older days and are now bleaching their hair lighter and tanning their skin. It doesn't mean they worship white people... Just because they choose to have recessive coloring doesn't mean they're trying to look white some just like blonde hair and blue eyes...

@Alcavexus Because it's the style. Look more at like for example the Japanese style Gyaru and other fashions. The way they look is dolly and resembling a Barbie doll. These models aren't necessarily representing the whole of Japan, just the style. Japan is different nowadays in fashion than what it looks like to a foreigner. I hate how people still think they all have to look super stereotypical Asian...

I saw this fashion coming a long time ago when Electro Techno or Electro Pop became popular in France. The French started dressing like the 80's.

Yasutaka Nakata brought his electro-pop feel to the Japanese music scene, and it's been widely popular in Japan the last few years (Perfume, Meg, Capsule, etc). The music changed Japanese fashion and now recently in America (Lady Gaga).

Both americans and europeans can't get over the fact that Japan and South Korea are the new trend setters in advanced technology and fashion trends. They also have a hard time with Japan, South Korea and China competing and many times winning in athletic events against americans and europeans. If you are talking about height than yes I agree that they look more like europeans. The younger generation of japanese people between 15 to 30 are much taller than past generations of japanese people. I am a 172 cm white american male and most japanese male tourists and some japanese female tourists visiting the US made me feel short. There are many japanese men and some japanese women that can see over my head.
