  • Only Kenny Everett could make em laugh like that, genius...

  • It is a pitty he had so many good guests on at one. Not enough time to do any of them justice.

  • Love this...

  • Look at this......Grown men!

    Now that's fun!

  • Too much talent on one show like there was in those days now there isn't the entertainers or the talent

  • Roy Castle was the most underated genius this country has ever had. If he had been born in the US he would have been every bit as big as Sammy Davis.

  • Classic impromptu genius on display...WOW! Unrehearsed, and still perfect!

  • Superb.

  • An ERA of SUPER TALENT..................GONE. Breaks my heart but I'm grateful of their GIFTS. What Blessings!

  • Far too much skill on that stage ;)

  • Roy Castle could sing, tap dance(held a world record for it) and play 45 musical

    instruments.He died of lung cancer, a warm,sincere man,greatly missed.

  • Sammy, wonderful voice

  • Roy Castle, very talented

  • this is class

  • i was hoping parky was going to join in tap dancing!, now that would have been googd.

  • Sorry, I'm 38 and now I am sure that MTV killed music and good television. Not rock and roll, but this great music music...

  • spent the 9.47 with my jaw on the floor ...ill go close my mouth now :)

  • QUALITY!!!

  • SAMMY DAVIS FUCKING JUNIOR

  • Wow! Now that's talent!!!!!

  • What a line up! Incredible.

  • OOOHHH MYY GOOOSSSHHHH!!!! I was not expecting that!!!! SAMMMMYYYY!!!

  • Beautiful.

  • Buddy Rich is a legend - what a great show. The ease at which these guys just laid out that tune shows you what talent is all about.

  • this is incredible........

  • The Best Dummer in the World.

Geene Kruper eat your hart out.

  • Wow. These people and this era exuded talent. Today we have rubbish like American Idol which rewards mediocrity.

  • @GrimsditchImages You're much more generous then I would be..."mediocrity"??,.....Try.."OUT RIGHT CRAP"

  • tremendous! only Parky left of all of them :o(

  • Buddy Rich.. My all time drumming hero!

  • medication's what you need....

  • Real professional talents that know how to play together on the spot.

  • Heart warming clip. Felt a bit sorry for Kenny being a bit left out. But I guess he had his interview at the start of the show, so would have had his air time.

  • There just ain't the talent now. What a line-up !!! WHOOOOOOOO !

  • Best Drummer in the world Gene Kruppa eat your heart out daddy

  • I love Sammy. So much.

  • There is more talent in this room than there has been at the last 20 Grammy Awards ceremonies.

  • Can anyone tell me what the dance move Roy performed at 2.04 was called?

  • who was that the singer

  • Buddy rich Awsom,my,In opion the best drummer.

    In the Word

  • wow impressive, he cleared his throat, then samg what he needed, 2 tones out, but close. He was a lot more talented than most,

  • THIS is Saturday Night Prime Time... .

  • Buddy Rich best drummer in the world RIP Buddy.

  • An amazing post, thank you!! The respect between true musicians from what seems like a time gone by!! Kenny Everet was an amazing comedian and in some respects its a pity he was on this show as he was somewhat overshadowed by the others. Absolutely brilliant!

  • Just brilliant !

  • Absolute magic, Thanks for the post. Nowadays they feed us X-factor and Big Brother. None of them fit to lace any of these guy's shoes. Progress?

  • Thankyou thankyou thankyou, for posting this wonderful piece of history. They were the best.

  • ♥

  • Shame, they are all probably dead now,so we now have to put up with the untalented tossers of nowadays tele.

  • The most amazing drummer in the world

  • True Sir.

  • It's great to see the love and respect between Buddy and Sammy...two legends!!! Great post and classic television!

  • Kenny Ever as commented looks like he shouldnt be there.

  • its moments like that that made showbiz so great. Hopefully It'll be the case again one day.

  • you'd have to say Fair Play to Kenny for not trying to gain the limelight and letting the guys show what its like to be talented.

  • @finkaboutit555

yeh, good point that, shows he was a pro, he saw a moment of magic about to happen and let it happen, i think that was good on his part, like isay, noit really my cup of tea, but a pro none the less!

  • Talent. Most of the assholes on TV now don't know the meaning of the word.

  • @Mahavishnu80 fantastic could'nt have put it better

  • Brilliant...but, I think they rehersed it.

  • I have posted the ENTIRE SHOW this piece comes from on YouTube - in HQ. I too thought this was a golden show (as you'll see from my "info" section). So please ALLOW this comment and the enclosed "video response" on your site. You have MANY golden moments from Parky - I just have the ONE - and it should be shared by EVERYONE! Thankyou!

  • I don't think Kenny is a fish out of water. He was genius in how he pushed TV comedy.

    He's zany - not stupid.

Remember he started in radio, he loves music.

And would quite happily sit back and watch the brilliance unfold.

He's clever enough to know that comedy wasnt needed at that point. He just sat back and enjoyed

  • @mcagbe Speaking of 'he loves music" when the two guys were playing with the drumsticks, he was tapping his foot to the beat. lol

  • Kenny Everett looks like a fish out of water next to these masters :)

  • like they would on his show. :)

  • Or perhaps Kenny saw the quality and let the show go on. Kenny was usually zany in interviews but here he shows respect to an improvised masterpiece.

  • what did roy castle do again

  • He was an actor, a dancer, a trumpet player, a singer, not a half bad drummer, and a television presenter. He could turn his hand to just about anything, pretty much.

  • lol he plays the money

  • brilliant thanks for posting.

This is what music should be like

  • Quality

  • Alas, none of those guests are still with us. Roy Castle and Kenney Everett died too soon. I remember when this first aired and Roy got Buddy to drum on money...I remember the joy and fun they had.

  • Remember the look on Roy's face when Buddy told him to go get his horn out of the dressing room??

  • Buddy Rich Bes6t Drummer in the world.

Gene Krupa allways over enfersised a drum Move

  • how dare you lecture me when you can,t even spell correctly tomorrow go to a book shop and buy yourself a book i,ll spell the title for you it is a dick-shun-ri,p.s hero your needed in afghanistan, wakner.

  • Comment removed

  • this is wonderful stuff from some of the most talented people theres ever been and the enjoyment from being able to see it far outways the sadness of seeing such idiotic comments from respectless and mannerless people

  • Well go back to the hole that you have cralled from Guy.

If you hate you Tube Feck off.

    Right

  • Buddy Rich the best drummer in the world.

    RIP MATE.

  • Amazing, God rest all, who have passed on.

  • You just know that this made Buddy's day, seeing Sam like this. Thanks for putting this up, made my day, too. 6.27.09

  • made my day thankyou for posting times like this have been lost what a shame i still young and wasnt around in those time but this is just amazing !

  • There are no words to describe this clip. Its THAT good. And Buddy Rich was a better drummer than Muhammed Ali was a boxer. And pele was at playing football. THATS how good he was. TY for sharing.

  • i have to say, you can't compare...it's really impossible

  • Great Clip.....thanks for posting

  • How have I never seen this ?! Beautiful !

  • Priceless!

  • Great television. You don't see that kind of improvisation on TV anymore. Thanks for posting.

  • I wasn't expecting Stevie Wonder to make an appearance like that, great video!

  • i beg your pardon?????? that is the late great mr sammy davis jr! not stevie wonder! do a wikipedia for heavens sake !

  • I was joking! ;)

  • What great brush control from Buddy - and Sammy just ruled and took over TV shows all over the world.

  • Fantastic clip! Thank you for posting, Cheeseford.

  • awesome

  • That amount of genuine talent in the same room is something which is rarely seen these days.

  • fuk jade goody

  • I just love it when youtube brings me stuff like this - what a great video - and what simply fantastic talents!

  • wow look at all this different kinds of talents!

  • Gredey Buger Roy Castle, getting free fags breething pepoles smoke.

Just a Joke not a piss take.

  • I was 1 when this aired. It's amazing. real drummers can dance!

  • that hug was so sweet that he gave to Sammi Davis Jr :D

  • fuck i didn't know roy was that talented - i thought he was just a trumpet presenter!

  • You know what, I'm a huge death metal fan and whatnot, but I just can't deny the genius here and the quality of the music. There is no way.

    Much respect.

  • I'm a huge Cradle of Filth fan, but how much better they'd have been with Buddy Rich, Roy Castle and Sammy Davis Jnr.

  • Now these guys are entertainers.

  • Awesome, thank you.

  • magic, magic....and as someone says, an amount of talent you couldn't find on a talk show today. Thank you.

  • buddy is always the best...

  • wat a clip

  • could you imagine seeing that much talent on a talk show now? All they're famous for is appearing on reality shows, being married to footballers or ... can't think what else.

  • The vaudeville culture undoubtly brought about such talent in these entertainers. It's long gone now of course.

  • zero talent

  • All these wonderful Men ... Look Mark Is it not wonderful seeing them together?

  • Oh what a treat to see them all again, thanks for sharing this :)

  • Lucky Roy Castle happened to have his tap shoes on. I can picture Bruce Forsyth sat at home shouting at the screen "That should have been me...THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME!"

  • yes brucie certainly enjoys the limelight lol.

  • Kenny Everett was quiet because, unlike modern "personalities" like Brand and Woss, he knew when to shut up.

  • Agreed. He'd steal the show if the focus was on him but this was Buddy Rich and SDJrs platform so he was generous and defferent

  • They don't make television like this anymore. Too many greats have gone.

  • Kenny seems really quiet and out of it here. Possibly indicating his real life persona when not performing!!!! Nice guy.

  • Great Sponteneity. Not one plug. Get back to that BBC. This is what TV's made for. Well done Cheeseford, well done You Tube.

And Kenny Everett in awe and silence.

  • Briliant Muscians-Good Singer all sadley gone now exscept parky.

  • I love how back then entertainers really could do it all - they sang, danced, acted. no bleached blonde celebrity bunnies, no GQ prettyboys - real entertainers.

  • You are spot on! Those days are over. Mostly BS today, empty headed dolts. Like you said, stars then danced, sang and acted in real time. Danny Keye could eat any current stars lunch.

  • Well those audience members got a rare treat didn't they!?

  • where would we see these if not on youtube.we grew up with watching these greats.what have they got now.maybe thats why the young look so pouty all the time.

  • Muched missed guys.

  • I miss Parky, nobody does it as good as him!

  • Kenny everett is the best i love him so much just wish a was able to meet him but not the he is gone that will never happened :( he was the best in the WHOLE WORLD i love so much he will always be with me :( :( luv u 4ever kenny RIP i miss u so much sadly missed xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Thank you sooo much for this vid... Awesome

  • You see... back in the day, when Entertainers actually enjoyed being there.. rather than today, when they appear to just be there to get paid. Meg Ryan should have viewed this video before appearing on Parky, she would have seen that Parky actually does get along with his guests... stuck up cow

  • that's just amazing. you'd never see one of the singers nowdays prepared to just off the cuff sing like that. just one word for all that were on that show...LEGENDS

  • I saw this programme on the night it happened.Believe me,moments like this dont come around that often!Sad to consider that all these greats are now gone.Parky is still with us thankfully.

  • Buddy was not only the world's greatest drummer, but he was a pretty good hoofer too! Then of course Sammy, he could do it ALL! Thanks for posting it!

  • Almost creepy but a magic moment all the same

  • I remember watching this

  • Just MAGIC!!!

  • Fantastic

  • This is FANTASTIC!!!!!

  • this is greeaaat

  • brilliant!!!!!!!! what ever happened to great televison we seemed to have left it back in the eighty's

  • Magic.....just pure magic.

  • The guests are real stars, who have we got now on these shows, sharon osbourne, posh n becks and jamie oliver .. a reflection of our society today, wish I was old enough to appreciate such class

  • how can you say such rubbish! i take it your a heavy smoker? either that or you work for a cigarette company.

  • Rubbish- study the facts his lung cancer is normally found in nonsmokers anyway!! And no I dont work for any tobacco company!

  • Rubbish.

  • a-mazing!

  • Sad to think that all these guests are dead now. Great! Thanks for posting.

  • Kenny Everett must have felt right out of place in the face of so much talent.

  • Kenny was as talented as Sammy, Buddy and Roy in his own way. He created sound techniques for radio that people struggle to recreate today with far more technology. Just watch Sammy and Buddy creasing up when he tries to tap dance. They get him. Utterly. There's just so much warmth and respect on that stage.

  • Youve got a big picture of Sammy Davis for the clip so that kinda spoils it!

    Handy that floorboard was there.

  • Talk about creativity....!!

  • its not just creativity, its dedication, dedication, dedication its what you need, if you wanna be a record breaker yeahhhhh...

  • They don't do TV like that anymore. Real superstars!

  • Cadaverr - I totally agree with you. Bobby Darin only got heard of because of Kevin Spacey's film, and you ask a Britney fan who Sammy Davis Jnr is and they go blank. We're a world obsessed with celebs and not talent. It's a crying shame, truly

  • Bobby Darin was very well known before that film. Obviously that film made him even more well known to people but he was a legend before it.

  • Can't believe Parky's the only one left....makes me feel old!

  • Please, anyone, compare THIS intense amount of unique talent all put together creating great things spontaneously and Britney Spears at MTV doing playbacks and "singing" elevator, generic and industrialized music - cries. My God, what happened to this world. I feel sorry for myself.

  • So much talent. Awesome stuff.

  • It was all spontaneous, not rehearsed at all...

  • Where is the rest of this? Buddy played a set before and after this interview I am sure. Can someone post the rest please? I have been after this for years - I think he did West side medley to finish.

  • Emotions that is..

  • That was class. That is what real quality talent was. Past tense. Who do we have now? I agree with Nigel Lockley. Mixed emontions watching this.

  • It doesn't get much better than that! Really enjoyable watching, Cheers for posting this Vid. Now I'm off to hunt the episode of Parky with Sting & Billy Connolly.

  • Nowadays we have the X Factor.

    Modern life IS rubbish.

  • Mixed emotions. Wonderful clip, but only Parky's still alive. What a waste of increible talent.

  • Who would've thought you could watch a clip that would see Kenny Everett being kept quiet! Paul Anka was on Parky this week saying that of all the Rat Pack, Sammy was the best, the most talented. And here you can see why. Quality stuff.

  • You know, the surprise guest is kinda given away by the Video Thumbnail :) You can change that under 'Edit your video',

Not that there's any point, we all know who it is now.

PS. AWESOME video, I wish we still had personalities like these in the limelight. People this cool just don't exist anymore :(

  • What a stark contrast to todays Parkie: Jamie Bloody Oliver and some nobody off Eastenders! That was class. many thanks.

  • Incredible!

"This is why I love YouTube, when you can find treasures like this."

    hear hear!!

  • I watch this so many times.

    Thx Sammy and Rich.

    Words fail me.

Thx poster for a magical moment.

  • Holy fuck! THANKS for this!!

  • Now that's! what I call Good Television.

    Thank you.....more please.

    OPJ

  • The best thing I've seen on You Tube! Buddy and Sammy are the tops!!! Live at the Sands: Sounds of 66, for me, is the greatest live album of all time.
