Same thing with comfort room. In the Philippines we called them CR. In HK, they call it toilet. In Canada, they call them washrooms. That's why it's hard to understand each other if you just pick them by word for word. Just use a common sense and we can all understand each other.

@alyssaxoxo8 let her and everyone else who calls it "ref" be. its not like you're being affected by this. it's our culture anyways. why try to cater to the common standards of another place/country? there are lots of things that filipinos do that seem wrong to others and there are also a lot of things that other countries do that is considered to be "wrong" in our standards. this is why "wars" happen; when you try to imply a standardized way of thinking unto people who are perfectly fine as is

GET it?? is this how you react whenever you are taught by somebody who "KNOWS" thing that most people would never deal with?and what's w/ d issue of the kid?? with all due respect, i find it out of the issue..

@alyssaxoxo8 the point of the kid, was to show you how everyone else in different communities see things differently. it doesnt mean we have to abide by their standards. the same way as you preaching about the whole "ref" thing. people will always call something differently. there are many beliefs out there that are bound to be wrong to us. for example, religion? catholicism vs. judism vs. budism etc. so tell me, are they wrong too? are we just going to follow one set of "unwritten" rules?

@alyssaxoxo8 my point is that what she did was not WRONG. in the FILIPINO culture its right to say it that way. you're basing your arguments on another country's standards and that's not how we should be. in the philippines, a lot of people are mixing english and tagalog together and i think that's wrong. but do i correct them? no.. because that's simply how they prefer to say it.

@alyssaxoxo8 what im trying to say is that the way she refers refrigerator as "ref" is already deep rooted in our mind that it doesn't need to be changed because most of us have common sense to understand it. and most of us can learn that "fridge" is the right thing to say but some will just ignore it and continue to say it as "ref" or what they're commonly used to.

@yapedong now alyssa, what would you call the person that would officiate a sport?? a "FREE"??? hahah.. when she said "put it in the ref" i've understand that it's the REFRIGERATOR that she's referring to,simply because she's in the kitchen.. but, this wild thing runs in mind "creative" mind.. Most people don't understand them with all the slang they're using but within their community they understand each other. @yapedong being slang carries such responsibilities that other should use slang terms the right way.. have u been a sporty buddy??? coz in lasalle, when we play, we have our referees and we call them "ref" whenever we're in the game... and we also have referee friends that shares to us the RIGHT use of term regarding the "REF" thing... THEY better be the one who you should talk to.. because they are the RIGHT person that should receive the RIGHT recognization

@yapedong yeah, but there's also adobo which is from spain and menudo as well? you get it? there's also different stuff that implies TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. yet people still call it that right? Yeah but you're basically calling them ignorant by referring to refrigerators as "refs" as opposed to fridge. TRUE that people call the referee ref, but I don't call it ref and so does a handful of people. IT doesnt mean they are WRONG right? if I call the COPS COPPERS instead does that make me wrong?

@yapedong Refrigerator is called ref in the Philippines. If you say fridge in Philippines it means the ice part of refrigerator. All over the world, we have different usage of words. Same thing with comfort room. In the Philippines we called them CR. In HK, they call it toilet. In Canada, they call them washrooms. That's why it's hard to understand each other if you just pick them by word for word. Just use a common sense and we can all understand each other.
