I thought karen oh and the yeah yeah yeahs lifted this sound as well as Lydia lynch. Sometimes I call them Siouxsie & the yeah yeah yeahs. Checkout bats for lashes, blonde redhead and warpaint. Bt trying to figure out the use of the Gismotronon this track.
About music and time: It is all relative... I 1st heard this song on a mix tape a girl made for me in the early 90s and have loved it ever since, but when I heard this song it conjures up 80s memories because of the "vintage of the wine" so to speak. More importantly.. its just one of the best lovely haunting songs ever written. Thanks Abbey!
@SuperPais yeah when i saw the title under related videos i was like "into the light? hmm..." and then i heard the music and i was like "oh right it's that tune" it's really got such a distinct melody how could i forget, not good with names i guess :D
When I discovered this band, I was quite young and shy and their style were generally referred to as marks of rebellion and disgrace (at least in my country). Some 27 years after when I enjoy all the vids posted recalling their musical and scenic journey through the years, I simply consider them as genuine and most respectable Artists with capital A !
I admire, respect, love and thank them so much for their whole work !
i grew up on her, the Cure, Alien Sex Fiend and all the rest. This was back at the birth of what later was called "goth" - long before Hot Topic ruined everything. Siouxie ruled. she was the Yin to Robert Smith's Yang ;)
Too bad it's been always very difficult to find live versions of this song, which is one of my favourites, along with "jigsaw feeling", "icon", "fireworks", "red over white" (the thorn version).
I don't understand why musicians cant make music like this anymore. It's like people have forgotten hove to be creative. Most of the things you hear in the mainstream metal/got scene sounds wry much the same. I would give much to the person that could find me a time machine. Back to the 80's when music and movies where good and the alternative scene actually where alternative
The answer is in your own point. Of course the mainstream sucks. The Banshees weren't mainstream - they're original stuff wasn't even AVAILABLE in the US. It has to be import-ordered and few heard it until a decade later. The good stuff today is equally obscure - don't be so frickin lazy.
Producer Nigel Gray did a good effort making Mc Geochs guitar sound like police "walking on the moon" that was released and produced by him the same year.
I LOVE Siouxsie, but I don't understand why "Arabian Nights" is their most played song. I think that "Into the light" beats everything else they've ever done. sick guitar playing in this.
Grew up in the punk scene in the 80's, am 46 now and still love Siouxsie...not a band or singer today could compare to her...just a bunch of no talent American Idol losers...I miss the 80's.
@Sasquatchhunter1 actually adam lambert is great and many others get off your judgement horse d head! repent thx loveugodbless tj akbbalah matthewshepard madonnalicious

You know I'd love to get my hands on you, just for one hour maybe. You need to be snuffed out before you get old enough to be a danger to others.Ofcourse you've never killed anyone nor do you have the balls,I see nothing but an angry little fifteen year old shit talker.Just breaking your fucking jaw would feel good.
Does it hurt that even your family is ashamed of you?I know it really must be painful that the only thing you'll ever have is a job in fastfood at the minimum.I know it hurt that you couldn't hack it in school.
But don't take it out on people that are better than you(Siouxsie).Just get a whole bottle of tylenol out of mommys medicine cabinet and swallow every single one and then let liver failure do the work. The pain will soon end
250 mgs of elavil and solitude is what comes to mind for me when i hear this oh yeah and the light....i now am a unmedicated biolar and i been sober for almost 10 years so dont think things from comments please.
Juju is on my top 10 list of favorite albums ever. "Into the Light" especially takes me back to a time of self-discovery. No better soundtrack for a young man learning about love, Scotch, heartbreak and solitude.

All songs of this great band contain some kind of inner sorrow.
