  • Thx good tutorial. Would have been better if you had "logging synchronous" enabled

  • It is not necesary to use the "switch mode access" command to assign an interface to an VLAN, However, it is a good idea to used the switch mode access command to prevent the port from becoming a Trunk port.

When you exit the revision number is updated provided you created, modified, or deleted any vlan data.

  • weren't you supposed to put it in "switch mode access" before assigning a vlan to the port? and when you do "exit"does that update the revision or do you not have to type in exit, can't you just type in the next vlan?

    thanks

  • Vlan data base mode to create VLANs is new to me, thanks great job

  • i'm studying for CCENT.. this is really helpful..thank you

  • @tyrokeem How did it turn out?

  • I have 2950 switch. any reason I can not create vlan in config mode? I have to use vlandatabase. also in config mode, int range command is not available?

  • @rcstar07 The first thing i would check is you IOS ver. Any version over 12.0 show support creating VLAN in the config mode. If you have a verison less than 12.0 try this command to create a vlan s"witch#vlan data" this will put you in the vlan configuration mode in earlier versions.

  • Thanks for putting this on the web, my teacher just did this at my request. The only problem is that I had to step out for a second and missed one part of the set up. Which we are only learning network+ at the time, so I didn't want to wast others time to have him do it over. We made a mock co. in class, but put all the departments on the one switch. The next class I made the statement of don't we need a VLAN, and if so could he show us how to do one. THANKS!!!!

  • I'm happy you found my video useful!!!
