  • what is everyones best gun? i adore a rpg personally. it's very easy for you to eliminate nearly everybody with it! my roomie calls me a noob for using it however who cares. i'm kinda new perhaps! but at the very least i didnt need to pay for the game. i down loaded it at no cost by mw2forfreeZinfo (replace Z with . ) this week

  • I just reached my first prestige! I really enjoy this game, it is amazing. Thank our god that i didnt have to pay for it. Me and my best mate just dled it from codmw2freedlYcom (replace Y with . ), and put it on our highschool's pc's. I'm downloading the actual new map pack now from that site, i'll let you know if the new maps are any good.

  • If only Cedega supported GTA IV. I'm getting sick of GTA SA for over a year! ;-)

  • it runs pretty fine on your system^

    cool.

maybe , i gonna buy "cedega" for my PC , oneday.

    thx for the vid.

  • That is My Pc

    MotherBoard: enlight 865gvvsfa

Processor: Pentium 4 HT 3.06 Ghz

    Ram: 2GB

    Graphics: ATI RADEON 9800XT

  • Hey Guys i got a graphic card geforce 9400 1gb and an LCD Screen LG , well the problem is that when i want to play a game on low resolution it doesnt show on full screen just a part of the screen any one know why ?? please RESPOND ASAP Ty !!!

  • MEGADETH FTW!!!

  • Lol, Megadeth at :49.

  • yeah man maybe linux is a best OS, but for games...windows is the best choice.

  • idunno that was the point of this movie...

  • He is running a Linux operating system and playing a windows based game on it. Hes playing a game on an OS that it wasnt made for. Hes basically showing that its possible to play games on Linux.

  • How much is CEDEGA

  • only a gig of ram?

    and 64 bits?

    wow.

  • that's what i run it isn't uber fast but it cuts it faster than any windows machine in my house. I can't get more RAM something 'bout dual channel support is a no go but still i can do what i need =)

  • yeaa

  • really cedega works better with nvidia cards! awesome cus mines nvidia geforce 8400 or something, well 8000 something.

  • wat so is it not actually not as straight forward to play games with linux as xp?

  • Since you went a little bit into discussion on the graphics card I just want to note that cedega works much better with Nvidia cards.

  • guys please help me i dont know how to work my linux laptop i dont know how to download things guys please help me!

  • Linux is great, but you see it has some graphic bugs

  • its due to ati inferior drivers that they never fix =(

    nvidia ftw

  • @Davillalva nvidia makes some of the worst hardware in the world. Just laughable

  • i ibstalled it on my linux mint 5.0 and i dont know hot to use it :(

  • I like the thought of gaming without worrying about hackers :)

Btw, very smooth looking when its running!

Do you know whether GRID works through steam with either cedega or wine?

  • As far as I know, steam works using WINE, so you should be in luck, but (if this is the game you're talking about) is looks like only the DVD version has been tested

    appdb(dot)winehq(dot)org/objectManager(dot)php?sClass=version&iId=12617

Cedega is really... outdated I'd say, so stick with Wine.

  • Ok, I've now burnt and tried my first Ubuntu live cd! Very smooth and fast and simple and intuitive! I was running the 8.04.1 64bit version on my Athlon 4200x2. For browsing it's really fast, tried a few things like install nvidia drivers and flash to see this site. Will test properly when I get hold of another hard-drive, possibly a 32gb ssd.

Hoping to use it for music production :)

  • Excellent, I hope you enjoy Ubuntu :)

  • Got ubuntu studio 32bit version installed now on a 20gb, had trouble with 64bit, still testing and learning. I didn't know anything when I started and been messing a few days now and still don't know anything lol. None of those linux commands seem to stick right now haha. Still learning but got linux games installed.

Most scary thing is where are the nvidia options(8800gtx)? lol I can't find options even for audio(audigy 2 plat pro).

Anyone trying linux will probably end up trying a few

  • only reason u think ubuntu is 4 gays is because u don't even know how to use it. i bet u cant even use a terminal

  • Comment removed

  • i like that version of Linux 2 but i cant install it cos 4 sum reason it dose not like my computer :( i dunno y cos i have a 2007 computer so its not rarely old yet. but i use Linux mint and its my favorite version at the moment you should try it :)

  • macs are for those who dont know anything about pc's ,windows for the ones that know tha basic and little more about pc's and linux for PRO'S

  • gostei do jogo e queria que vc me responda e voce ja jogo cs gta eu ja

  • English please.

  • Sweet man cedega rocks. I play css on it.

  • Wine is now better

  • hey im a windows power user, and i really have seen how awsome linux is becoming. because of all the cool stuff and how its so "open" im now happy to say im a windows\linux user yah xD

  • Right on, and yeah, for every day tasks it feels nice to not use a lot of proprietary software, but still get everything done, and have some fun :)

  • You using xfire in Wine, Ghostrider?

    How well does it work?

  • Ghostrider:

COD4 runs in wine with a patch

I compiled a deb package that I can send to you if you want

  • yeahcheers Steve send it me plz steve that wud be f****g ace mate !!!

  • No problem bro

  • xfire: paraghostrider

    Steve ok

  • xfire: paraghostrider

    Steve ok

  • Alright, cool I'll add you

  • Hey Ghostrider:

COD4 runs in wine with a patch. I patched and compiled a deb package for the latest wine. I can send it to you if you want.

or if you want to compile it yourself, just apply the 3dmark.diff patch

  • Thanks for trying anyway Jimmy mucho appreiciated...:)

  • Any joy with CoD 4 jimmy mate ??

  • I tried, and it installed, but no luck getting it to start with WINE, and it doesn't sound like it's gonna fire with Cedega.

If I ever do get it to, I'll post here, but it HAS been done before, just not by me.

  • I play cod 4 on Linux with wine :) I loadet up a video right now,you can find it under the words "fuzelmix" there are all my vids... but it has not a very good quality because the screencast i use is lagg... ^^

  • i need the driver where can i get it from

  • What graphics card do you have?

  • thats the same thing i whant to ask you .. can you tell me plz !!

  • Download and run "Envy"

  • Thanks Jimmy, ive tried everything mate, nearly got it going with wine,it started but kept saying not enough disk space,if thats anygood to you...many thanks

    GhostRider..

  • I gave it a go using VMware, but it didn't work, probably because it doesn't support direct rendering. Later today I'll fire up the ol' Ubuntu box and see if I can get it running on there.

  • Hey Jimmy nice use of cedega....i love linux only thing thats putting me off slinging windows altogether is running CoD 4 i cant get it to work...do you know how ??

    Cheers

    GhostRider....

  • I run it on Windows, I'll see if I can get it working in Ubuntu.

  • Hmm...your computer hardware isn't the greatest. Yet, you're able to run Flatout 2 (a game released in 2006) at a good frame rate. Linux is that efficient, huh?

  • Yeah, I guess so. The Legacy Drivers help alot.

I bet Vista couldn't do that!

(of course not, because I only have 1 gig of ram...)

  • On older hardware, Linux/Cedega runs games faster than Vista. It's pretty sad when Micro$oft can't even run programs designed for their OS as well as a party without the Windows source code can.

  • hahaha, true that, I know a few guys that have/are thinking about removing vista to play some real games.

  • Except for the issue with GTA's interface, the games seem to run much smoother in linux than in windows...

  • woo Megadeth rock dude!

  • damn where did u buy flatout 2 man i want it i want it

  • I think you can get it at Walmart, or Futureshop for 20 bucks...

  • Could I play Battlefield 2142, BF2, and BF1942 (with mods) on cedega/linux?

  • Yes, I believe you can. Check here for a full listing

    cedegawiki(dot)sweetleafstudios(dot)com/wiki/Main_Page

    and here

    games(dot)cedega(dot)com/gamesdb/

  • Is cedega an api emulator?

I have cruddy specs compared to you.

    Nvidia 6200 TC 256MBRAM

    1GB RAM

    Intel Pentium D 820 2.8ghz (dual core 64bit)

  • Well, it's like a windows emulator. I'm sure you've heard of Wine for Linux? well back a few yours ago cedega branched off of wine and they basically do the same stuff, only cedega simplified it, and gave it a good interface.

If you can run a game in windows, then with the proper drivers you should be able o run it in Linux with Cedega.

  • Technically, it's not really an emulator, it's an implementation of the API layer that Windows uses. Wine stands for Wine Is Not an Emulator.

  • Your system specs are almost the same as mine...Only one dif i got AMD Athlon 64bit

  • lmao, typo, yeah, mine's a 64 bit.
