Nu Metal is hardly even considered a sub-genre of metal. That is primarily why bands like Slipknot and Linkin Park are so popular, they water everything down to be more accessible to a younger demographic. When's the last time you've seen a 13-year old listening to Between the Buried and Me or Opeth? Everything has to be simplistic in order to sell these days. Non-conformity is pretty much prohibited.
