I think I found way more subtext in here than was intended. Atem and Yugi were cast as two halves of a soul, that's obvious. Since the song is based on Aristophanes' theory from Plato's Symposium, that would make this puzzleshipping. Was it intentional that Atem was a Child of Sun before the Origin of Love, and then everyone looks up into the sun and smiles at the end? Not even going into Sun=Gay and Sun=Pharaoh, because now is when annoying Philosophy student shuts the hell up.

In the Japanese version the ending theme had a lot more footage of some of the minor characters and such. In the scene you're talking about, Yugi runs out, apologizing about being late. Jonouchi teases him a little.

If you wanna see the Grand Championship(which I think was simply filler because i don't think it had to do with the Pharaoh) then its episode 185 called the unwanted guest. If you wanna skip that story right to the Egypt one, skip to episode 199 The Tomb of the Nameless Pharaoh. Either way watch it to the end. It's amazing...

The first time I watched it I was really close to crying (and actually a few tears did come out). See now, this makes me want to watch Yu Gi Oh! because then I can see the crazy badass looking battles in the later seasons as well as the touching story. But then I remember that this is a show that revolves around a card game and its mechanics...is it worth it?

But I didn't see the end, and I've been watching the last season. There's still badass battles, but it's not cards. It's the same concept, just more violent. Haha.
