I have seen music for this particular sonata, and the continuo is a simple bass line of eighth notes - so if the harpsichordist is playing a much more complex part, does it mean that she is improvising on the continuo or do there exist written out parts for harpsichord? Just wondering.
@intormentis The tradition of Vivaldi's day required a chordal 'realisation' (improvised) by the harpsichordist of the implied harmonies suggested by the bass line, melody and often numeral symbols accompanying bass notes which define the chords to be embellished. This convention of accompaniment is known as 'figured bass' as a part of 'basso continuo'.
It sounds really good, but if you try to play in the old style, you should also try to sit in the appropriate way, like women sat in the old times ...
I agree...playing baroque music....there is the ALCHEMY OF THE MOMENT. Endless dialogue and improvisation...you never play a piece the same away and that's why is it utterly inspiring.
Just a few minutes ago I saw Ophelie on mezzo and I was instantly amazed at her sound of cello. She played Faure's elegy and the sound of instrument was amazing. bravo.
I love how authentic in the sense of baroque music for cello. She is playing with gut strings and is holding her instrument between her legs. I ncredible

I love the harpsichordist's face when she claims she never plays the same thing twice.
