hey man, how did you set up your midi controller to trigger a sample in sync with your hand rhythm? when i hit the banks my samples are, on it plays them synchronized with ableton's tempo and wont let me be too rhythmic with the controller
@SnubCluster theres no synching or quantization involved with the samples here, the only thing quantized is the beat but the samples play whenever i touch the pads
hey man, how did you set up ableton or map your midi controller to synchronize with the rhythm of your button pushes? im using an APC 40 and when i trigger one of my samples ableton seems to want to play it in a specific and normal time.
they are relatively cheap so i wouldn't call it a waste of money, it is all plastic and the knobs and buttons feel fairly cheap, and im not really into the feel of the keys but i paid less than a hundred bucks for it and i don't expect much more in that price range.
completely self taught from youtube and other websites, mostly youtube tutorials. Ableton can be very overwhelming at first just stick with it my dude.
@wylanneely Waddup . I got the same problem. I got Ableton and the MPD26 and I watch some of these videos...And ppl get to loop stuff. You know how to loop ?
the pad banks on the impulse start at note 60 and go up 2 notes from there. If you have an mpd24 like this guy it's super easy to change the notes and create a preset. When you load an audio file into ableton in the sample window on the bottom left it tells you the bpm's for that sample and then from there you can decide to warp or not to warp, you can even use the quantize command and warp the sample to the exact tempo you want. ableton is tough at first, but easy once you figure out basics
@ssamfresh - the guy below already said the name of the sample, it takes all of two seconds to find it on youtube. my advice though is do some searchin on your own. youtube will list similar music and you can find some cool shit that 5 other people from this page arent using. i get a lot of good samples from this site. if only i still had imeem to pull from
@tcw00 at first glance any daw can seem confusing, but really ableton is as easy as it gets. putting samples onto pads is as easy as opening up say, the drum rack, and dragging/dropping the files onto the pad.
@ChriSxJetSon if by same sample you mean same song? then yes, the first part without the "oooohs" was 2 bars from the intro of the song and the sample with the "oooohs" was 2 bars later in the song
@ChriSxJetSon ohhhh i see what you're asking, no i didn't layer them, they are just 2 different sections of the song, one had the ooh's in it one didnt, they both had the same horns. If you listen close you can hear the snare i tried to filter out in the sample with oooh's
you have to change the midi notes on your MPD. The pads are usually preset to play scales which skips a lot of notes. I made a custom preset where the pads play midi notes 0-15 thats how they are all in order. it sounds complicated but its all in the manual
you don't dump a whole song on the pads. for this sample i just used 2 bars of the intro to this song. on ableton, once you have the 2 bars in a clip, right click it and click slice to midi, then choose what beat to slice on, and voila
hey. are those samples actually from the song "triste" by camilo sesto? I just love those trumpet sounds but I couldnt hear anything in the song "triste" that sound even remotely like your samples....:) could you maybe post a link to that song?? thx :D
whoops wrong sample, i changed it to the right song now, i can't post a link on here cuz i couldnt find it on youtube so you'll have to find it yourself
@minunimionpeep hey man, drum rack is your best friend. it gives you up to 128 different sample triggers on one track. i would explain how to use it but just search on youtube for ableton drum rack tutorial.
yea, big thanks, but when i try to trigger my chopped parts on the mpd, they only play when the pads are pushed.. i don't get that... im new on ableton, sorrz
Crazy beat man. I want to use abelton to simply timestretch say a 4bar loop then bring it into reason recycle to chop it further to be used in reason itself can it be done ????
ya you can timestretch a loop in ableton and then export it as a .wav to reason very easily
im not familiar with reason i use only ableton, but i know both programs are fully capable of doing both of those things by themselves so i dunno why you would need ableton unless reason doesnt do timestretching well
Thanks for the promt reply !!! Yeah recycle's stretch is not that great...Someone recomended I use abelton for stretching. At the moment I'm just trying to familiarise myself with abelton.....I'm more used to fl studio and reason.
hmm are you asking where i got the sample? Its called Camilo Sesto Triste Final. I dont know what album its from but thats the song name, I can send it to you if you PM me.
How do you connect your mpd with ableton?
