dont remove stock filterbox and use aftermarket air filters. if you do that it can get on fire easy, (when your sled backfires). I know peopel who had there sled burn down after it backfire in to aftermarket filters.. your sled would also get that stupid suck sound, and it will suck in hot air. bad for performance. buy flowrite and slp air-horn if your not happy with stock filterbox performance.

Your sled backfires because of uncombusted fuel in your pipe. When it gets hot enough it ignites. I don't know how that would catch your air filter on fire??? I mean it would have to come back through the pipe, motor, reed valves, and carbs...don't think so buddy.

I am the guy in the video, this happened on the trail near a Brooks Lake Lodge. By the time I got there with a fire extinguisher, it was a total loss. The guy smelled something burning, and jumped off and ran away instead of putting snow on it. This video doesnt show when the fuel tank burst, or when the shocks up front got so hot they exploded and scared the shit out of us. after it burned out, only the motor, and a few small metal oarts were left, all alluminum melted and burned away.

So what, we have a ski-doo and it's from the 80's that's been completely re-built, modified and is still running awesome. Ski-doo will out preform and out last any other sled. And this comes from someone who puts like 3000 k's on his sled in even the crappiest winter (waaay more in better conditions). (Yes, I'm Canadian and a Sled Ed and proud of it.)
