  • You must have a great job to afford all those amazing works of art you own. IF you have kids, they are no doubt going to college. All though Dad won't have a man cave. =)

  • First I was thinking Needles and Pins at 3:31...

  • Are you the richest man in the world ??

  • 3.31 the Byrds riff, listen to a song by The Searchers or Jackie DeShannon, long before the Byrds. ;)

  • if that a budget guitar then im elvis!

  • how many guitars do u own

  • George's first Gretsch guitar was a black single cutaway ProJet. It's the one he has on the cover of his solo album "Cloud Nine."

  • @JakeKniest actually it was a dou jet

  • @Roystothecoolkid Yes you are right. I think I was under a spell when I wrote ProJet. In fact I'm not sure where I got that. DuoJet is the correct answer.

  • What was georges first gretsch. the brown w/ gold pickguard ?

  • thanks thats cool didnt know!!!!!! and do you have nything with a country gent??????

  • Whats the name of the song at 3.14??

  • @slangestorm Dizzie Miss Lizzie from the Beatles album Help..

  • @MrVintagemusic Thanks!!

  • sorry dude george played a tennesee rose

  • @beatlesforever123456 Sorry but George didn't play a Tennesse Rose. They didn't exsist with that name in the 60's or 70's. The 6119 was named Tennesse Rose when Gretsch started building their guitars in Japan in the 80's because Chet Atkins took the name Tennesean with him when he moved his indorsment deal to Gibson. George played a 6119 TENNESSEAN. Same guitar , different name.

  • Do you, by any chance have a 1962 Gibson ES-355? If so, could you possibly do a video?

  • I'm looking for the parts studs for a gibson harmonica bridge.. any help ?

  • Great demonstrational video MrVintagemusic!

  • Are you a shop or is this your own private collection?

  • @WilburyVision private collection

  • @MrVintagemusic wow, that must be your favourite room of the house lol. I notice an absence of '65 Epiphone Casino's! Any plans to get one?

  • @MrVintagemusic if you don't mind me asking how do you afford all these vintage guitars

  • dam your rich

  • ya

  • how many guitars do you have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey Beatle and Vintage guitar heads. Check out my demo of my 1964 Gretsch Tennessean that I've just uploaded. I'm looking to sell. Hey MrVintagemusic, is that an original? That's some crazy looking pickups on there...

  • seriously, what was that first song?

  • @Thestealthalchemist "The Waiting" by Tom Petty

  • @MrVintagemusic cheers

  • I ment plz

  • I Kent plz

  • Can u make a video of all your guitars just like lay them all out and say the year and the name I would love that thanks also message me back pls

  • @ForeverFabFour I prefer not to do that. I have stuff in storage, and to pull all of that out is just not gonna happen....and not all of those guitars are vintage or interesting to most folks anyway. I post videos on the most interesting pieces of my collection. So tune in for more cool stuff...

  • how much did you pay for that Gretsch

  • @voltageguitarist don't remember

  • what was the first song?

  • How much is the Gretsch?

  • Hilton Valentine of The Animals used it for--"The House of The Rising Sun"--through a Vox AC -30-

  • to be honest i think that gretsch looks better when hold it up higher.

  • Actually I believe george harrison's tennessean was a 1962 or very early 1963.

  • Hi, Nice TONE!!! What strings are you using on the Tennessean??? gauge/brand.

Congrats , you have a nice collection!!!

    cheers

  • @antoniomontana213 I use 10's, no particular brand.

  • @MrVintagemusic how much did you pay for that Gretsch

  • I know this is harsh but you sound like a telemarketer 'Hello this is dave'

  • "I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better" wasn't a Dylan cover by the Byrds, it was an original written by Gene Clark. Later covered by Tom Petty.

  • @watchika2 Yes, I know. I made that correction on an earlier comment....

  • yeah harrison bought it in december 63 he used it a lot on the album Beatles for sale you could see it on the Help movie....how much was it in 64 im only 22 and i wished i lived back in the 60's cause i would problely own every beatle guitar known to man..take care.

  • wow, you have one hell of a guitar collection! i am amazed!

exactly how many guitars and amps do you have? what's your favorite amp that you've got? im extremely impressed by your beatle. keeps the vids comin!

  • hi mr... you are very clear... if i buy a tennessee rose with fake f and the filters... am i going to reach the same sound of a country gent 1962? you can surely answer my question... :) thanks a lot and congrats...

  • @giovannibrunoro No, it is a completely different sound....

  • @MrVintagemusic ok man.. could tell me why? thanks again friend :)

  • @giovannibrunoro They are 2 completely different guitars. The pickups are different and the body shape is a little larger on the Gent which is also a double cutaway.

  • @MrVintagemusic there is a ten rose with filters now :)

  • Make some more, dave!

  • @15kwakmatthew I will, don't worry....

  • where can i purchase one of these

  • can you say SPEED? Thats awesome great playing!

  • @MegaWowers Thank you. Make sure you subscribe for some more cool upcoming videos....

  • Thanks for your very informative videos! Question....what brand and gauge strings

do you recommend for the Tennessean!

    Thanks! Jack

  • @JackJohnVino I generally use 10's, no particular brand, I buy whatever is on sale...

  • Great info and great video!

  • Hey there MrVintagemusic, I don't live in an area with a decent music instrument store. Looking through your videos I see you have a huge amount of knowledge about Gretsch guitars. I currently play a Gretsch G5120, how would you compare this model to the Tennesean? I know the G5120 is an actual budget guitar but could you help me out in telling me the sound and tone differences? Thank you much.

  • @2PaperTigers I don't know much about them at all. But check out the Gretsch forums, you will get all your answers there....

  • George played a Gretsch Country Gentlemen

  • I've got one too, mine's a '65... it's missing the pickguard though (been looking for one). They sound great. Thanks for the video.

  • That was a great vid! Loved the comparison between the pickups! Keep on posting!

  • thin sound, not a practical shape for accessing those high notes.... if you put that thing up a modern guitar the modern guitar would piss all over it. come on, 1964 technology vs 21st century? or even 70's, it just doesnt float my boat. its heavy, clumsy and the tremolo is plagued with problems. a collectors guitar, nothing more.

  • He Mr. Vintage Music. Nice job on the videos. By the way, I'll Feel a Whole Lot Better by the Byrds was actually written by a Byrd-Gene Clark.

  • @pocaloc Yes, you are correct. I also made the correction on the Gretsch forums, gotta give credit where credit is due. I don't have any editing software, so the videos are recorded, warts and all. But thanks for the correction.

  • Is there a real difference between the Chet Atkins signed versions of the Tennessee Rose and the Non-SIgned versions of the Tennessee Rose? Is there a real difference between the Tennessee Rose and the Tennessean? I just bought a Japan made Tennessee Rose on Ebay, non Chet Atkins for 1600; a good deal? Thank you for your great video and great playing.

  • I don't know much about the reissue stuff, but you should check out some of the Gretsch forums, you'll find your answers there...

  • john lennons, is also hollow w painted F holes.hanging right behind you.

Gretsch 6120 (Nashville) hollow-body, orange, double cutaway model, vintage unknown. Little is known about this guitar except that it was used on the "Paperback Writer" session. Whereabouts unknown.

  • Mr Vintage You are aware that George Harrisons Tennessean was a '63 not a '64 correct ..just saying.

    ROCK ON MAN!

  • Yes I do, BUT the Gretsch serisl numbers are not totally correct as we thought in the past. Many numbers are off by a year, so what used to be a '63 may actually be a '64 in the new numbering scheme. So George's may have actually been a '64....But the specs are the same with either a '63 or '64 anyway.....

  • Correction, George played his Tenny at the '63 Christmas shows, so his is a '63 most likely. However the specs are basically the same from '62-'65.

  • Now you are getting it and it was (deep purple) the very rare unique /dark Burgundy rather than what u show ..Mahogany color.

tennys sound & play sound good.. that is what matters..

Id rather have the "best" of both worlds sir. Color and sound . George Spec

And u can add a "gnome" in the picture while "we" are at it.

    signed,

    Another Vintage Guy~

  • Huh? You dont mention SN's in your video do you?

I do have/know the SN of George's ..do you want it? Let me know~

    HofnersinLA

  • that would be great

  • I would rather email it than post it here my friend.

  • quid pro quo

  • MrVintageusic, are you a member of the Gretsch Discussion Page? If you are then that's awesome because I think you must add a lot of info to us Gretsch fans and if you are not then you should sign up if you want because it's a great forum.

  • Yes I am a member of the GDP and the Gretsch Talk forums, user name vintagemusicgear. Thanks.

  • I like that 6119 of yours. Man I love that Silver Jet on the wall. You have a nice collection.

  • Thanks a lot.

  • Hello do you have gibson or epiphone ej160e?

  • no I do not.

  • Great tone! What's the scale length on this guitar?

  • 24 3/4" thanks.

  • Wow that guitar can sing. Completely changed my mind about Gretsch's pickups.

  • are using rounds or flats? I hear rounds.

  • rounds

  • Great vid's, keep 'em coming!

Your sound is excellent, what amp are you using?

  • I am using a '65 Vox AC 30 top boost for the clean tones, and my trusty '65 Marshall JTM 45 for the dirty. Both are vintage, not reissue amps.

  • got any other beatles instruments

  • Yes, I have a vintage Hofner Beatle bass, and some very rare Vox amps that I will demo in the future. Stay tuned....

  • I play drums too, and I have some vintage Ludwig drums.

  • I'd love to own a Gretsch Rose Tennessean, unfornutalely its too expensive for me. I had to settle for Electromatic i have a 5120 model. Whats your opinion on the Electromatics?

  • I never tried one so I can't say for sure.

  • Thanks for sharing some really great guitars.
