I like this song even more now - with the lyrics and the full song. I remember watching it as a kid without understanding most of the words, but still crooning it!
@altfactor I wish that either of us was. No, I'm just a space history fan of very long standing. Plus a major Gerry Anderson/Barry Grey fan, as well. It was funny, a few years ago, we were in the Dulles Annex of the National Air & Space Museum, and I was telling my wife about the Shuttle Enterprise, and when I looked around, I have about 8 people standing nearby, who were listening in.
Thank you very much, I always heard it as, "condors of the sky", 'wanderland' instead of wonderland, and never got the ending 'til I read it: thought it was, 'meaningless of our lives' which did not make much sense (and hence eventually for my quest for the lyrics.) If you google it up, there are several other productions of the lyrics to Fireball, XL5, as well as different lyrics listed. Stay tuned.
According to some sources there is also a fourth verse witten by Barry Gray for this: We'd make our way to Mercury; and travel wide and far. We'd take a trip to Paradise; and wish upon a star. We'd steer a course for Heaven; love would be our guide. My heart would be a Fireball, a Fireball Cause you would be the angel by my side Fireball, fireball, Cause you would be the angel by my side Fireball, fireball, Cause you would be the angel by my side Anyone got this version?
@neilbaker88 The only thing i can think of would be an extended outro for a movie, but that's just guessing on my part. I'll keep my eyes open and if i find it, i'll upload it too.
thank you so much for this! i'd been wanting to listen to this for so so so long. It takes me back to the good old days when we-all of us friends- used to eagerly wait for fireball xl5 to start...ah! those were the days!
that sounds like a pretty cool dad viglanti...great memories of the greatest era for tv i was lucky enough to be born in 1950 and see tv in its heyday at least for me dont watch much anymore miss the great shows and cartoons ..
@VIGILANTI1 Glad you liked it. My dad used to sing the this song to me and my sister before bed when we were little. Who needed twinkle twinkle little star, we had Fireball XL-5!
I appreciate the posting of the full song with lyrics... but it's "conquerors of the sky," not compass of the sky... and several other words are wrong... listen to the vocals... thank you though
I think that's "Conquerors of the sky".
Great song, thanks for posting it. Excellent sound quality.

I see these additional errors -- and here's the corrections
To A wonderland of stardust
'CUZ you would be my Venus of the stars
Famous AND reknowned
I'll never reach the STARS

@SouthParkBear Does this mean I have to correct them now?
tucsondog 3 months ago
@tucsondog
It's up to you LOL
I know that "Stars" doesn't rhyme with "eyes," but it's poetic license because it fits better, and they already used "skies"
