I got mine years ago at a hobby shop. Not sure how you can build one?? Look online and buy one, they are cheap I'm sure. They were originally plastic and the gas ate em up, my replacement tank is metal show shoul last. Post a video of it running.
There were at least three similar models to this. This one had the white drum that was spun to start. I have two other models; one which starts by spinning a large plastic wheel, the other has the pull string. XENALOOK on ebay has rebuild kits and new reed valves for these and they work great. Just redid my Shrike.
i remember i had one just like that but, it was called the sandblaster and, had pull starting..i had just about all the cox cars and the three wheeler trike and the tether line dragster (2 actually) also, the shrike (3 wheels with prop 049 engine on the back) plus, lot of cox planes when i was a kid. my 1st one was a 73 baja bug then, my insanity started from there lol..they were great fun back then and, your video brings back memmories of them days. thanks for posting the video.
@Helivz Hi back....Yes i owned 2 dragsters (red one and blue one) and, the pinto funny car. I remember the hobby shop that i hung around in gave me the red one cos it got broke in half sometime during shipping and, my dad took it to work and repaired it very nicely. In scale model terms, they were pretty quick But the dragsters were quicker than the pinto even with the pinto's body removed. the dragsters came with thier own launchers the pinto did not.
Man it still runs good after all them years.i had the purple cox dune buggy got it when i 9 years old back in 71.also the cox army jeep and adam12 police car.wish i still had mine they were cool toys for 70s.

I have one of these, but the gas tank is missing. Is there anything I can do to make a replacement for it?

@davedoggy Hi. I got the trike in August of 1973. Have you ever ran a Funny Car and Cox Dragster? What was their acceleration like?
