Recent reviews of the Western Atlantic Stock suggest this is false. Spain and Italy should be regulated the most if not shut down - they use a method and philosophy to fish Bluefin that's thousands of years old and are rife with corruption to skirt ICCAT policy. Punishing the the U.S. or Canada fisheries with quota restriction is ridiculous. And U.S. Seiners are less impactful than nearly anyone fishing the species.

Take the big seiners out of the water and start to regulate it like we do on the East coast of Canada, no sport fishing them at all, have we have a quota of 128 ton on Prince Edward Island, everything is rod and reel, and we catch the big ones 700=1300 lbs that are about 20 years old. Seiners focuse on tuna that are 40-80 lbs and have quotas of 3000 ton, how may 40 lbs tuna would it take to fill that quota compared to ours!!

Bootom line. At this critical moment, Blue Fin tuna fishing has to be banned if we are to have any chance in saving the stock.
