  • @ONOERS1 word from the shelta

  • it reminds me of a good times i never had chance to live in!

  • You want Ladies andd Gentlemen then go back to the golden rule, treat others gently , as you would want to be treated. Expect more of yourself too!!

  • BEAUTIFUL !!!

  • girls were only "better" back then as you deem because women's liberation didnt really kick in until the 80's. women in the 50 and 60s didnt have much choice expect to follow a man's wishes and demands...nowadays, women are stronger, more educated, more willful and independent. nowadays women dont need a man to get ahead.

  • BB is as good as it gets. Oh, to be young again.

  • クールだね☆

  • uuaahhhh ...whatta music .. makes me fly ... :)

  • I get teary eyed each time I listen to this song because I would have loved to have lived back then, romped along the beach in St. Tropez and hopefully catch a glimpse of Miss Bardot as she strode along the avenue...............

  • @TheDiscoDays have you seen midnight in paris? might be your kind of film. about a man who wishes he lived in 20's paris. good movie

  • I wonder what Miss Bardot would think to herself today should she look at this photo and listen to this song? Probably along the lines of, "The best time of my life" or "At the time, I was the most beautiful and sought after woman in the world.". ......and it would all be true............Ahhh, the memories she must hold.

  • Can anyone upload the les deux love orchestra lujon version. I think its the prettiest version so far

  • 3 people still jerk off manually

  • @HamsterFueledRocket i still jerk off manually

  • This song is the reason I love music!

  • Marvelous song! Mancini the master. This song reminds me of the song in the Godfather 2 when Fredo took everyone to that seedy club and out came some cuban guy with girls attending him. At any rate, i digress, sorry...the strings in this are so lush and full, ahhhhh...just a masterpiece. Thank you for posting!

  • One of the songs I am putting on my list to be played at my funeral !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I am not going to say girls were better back then because I was born in the 90's. I have no idea and I dont care

  • Does anyone know what soundtrack this is from?

  • @rupy2053 Yes. This is from the 1961 album "Mr. Lucky Goes Latin." Mancini composed the music for the television series "Mr. Lucky," which ran for 1 season on CBS from 1959 to 1960. After the series ended, two albums were released, "Mr. Lucky" and "Mr. Lucky Goes Latin." Since then, the song has been used in "The Big Lebowski," "Sexy Beast," and "Two Lovers." It was remade as "Slow Hot Wind" and sampled in the Hooverphonic song "No More Sweet Music" and Black Mighty Orchestra song "Ocean Beach."

  • nice tune !

  • Girls used to be women.

  • classic, yes. classical, no.

  • Beautiful tune. By the way, the photo above is not Marilyn Monroe, it's Brigette Bardot . . .

  • henry mancini what an American icon of composers where does such a genius get these tunes-swirling around in his head?

  • what is playing the rhythm..thumb piano?

  • @gardedog It is a Lujon, a set of resonated, spring-steel plates. Sort of a bass mbira; but with short, wide plates, which are clamped tight at one end. It is usually played with mallets; but here, Shelley Manne appears to be plucking the tines.

  • where did you get this beautiful PIC? please write back...kennethjhoffmanjr@yahoo.com

  • this song is a magic experience .

  • women back then had the natural beauty (no fake stuff) and looked a lot more feminine thats why my favourite woman is Marilyn Monroe!

  • @salfetka that's a contradiction right there .marylin was probably one of the most beautiful women but she was far from being natural .she wasnt born blonde or with that perfect little nose ,like lots of other women her time she " enhanced " her beauty with surgery (aha even back then) and lots of makeup ofcourse .i still think she's amazing though .

  • @mimiandcuties wow i dodnt know that she had a nose job done. but yeah i googled her and yes there is a difference but yeah she is pretty anyways. i not only like marilyn but other women from that era 30s-60s, their make up, hair-styles were different and very appealing in my opinion

  • It almost hurts to listen to this it's so good, if you know what I mean.

  • @towerful1 yup.

  • Hello, Dude. I'm Jackie Treehorn.

  • La preciosa señorita que admiran, es nada menos que

    Brigitte Bardot, [ la B.B.] a sus 16 años!!

desde San José Costa Rica los saludo!! : ) !

    10.11.2011

  • doesn't get much better than this unless mancini did it. forgot how good his music is. that is b bardot.

  • Anyone know who the lady is?

  • @KTKTRock Hi! the beautiful girl is famous actress Brigitte Bardot!! [ B.B.]

Greetings from San José Costa Rica!! : ) !

    10.11.2011

  • @KTKTRock Brigitte Bardot.

  • I wonder who that lady is ? She resembles Yvonne De Carlo...

  • Check out the use of this piece in "The Big Lebowski"

  • เพลงสุดเซ็กซี่ very sexy music

  • I need to listen to this song once a day to calm me dawn , better that glass of beer,

  • I wish this song never ended, I have to keep replaying it instead.

  • Always dreamy................

  • Yes Yes me and Bardot on the Yacht , well we can dream can't we.

  • @cykirk2010 .sometimes all we have are dreams............

  • Although a beautiful song on it's own merit, however, the true fantasy and memories of our youth only come with the photo of BB included with the song.

  • I sure would have loved to have been on the yacht with BB in St. Tropez with my Nikon F camera. I bet this photo was originally shot with the Nikon F......Great memories when I first started taking photos.

  • @TheDiscoDays why do you have to take pictures when you see these girls on the beaches of Costa del Sol, Cote de Azur, Nice, Cannes, Antibes, walking around TOPLESS during summertime!!!!!

  • I love the sounds of the violins when they begin...............

  • No other piece of music can do what this does in 2.5 minutes. I just wish it went on forever.

And kudos on the picture selection; I can't think of a better one for this song.

  • Wish I had a time machine so I could travel back to these days.

  • It´s heard in The Big Lebowski, too.

  • People say, "Don't you miss it, Gal?" I say, "What, England? Nah. Fucking place. It's a dump. Don't make me laugh. Grey, grimy, sooty. What a shit hole. What a toilet. Every cunt with a long face shuffling about, moaning, all worried. No thanks, not for me." They say, "What's it like, then, Spain?" And I'll say, "It's hot. Hot. Oh, it's fucking hot. Too hot? Not for me, I love it."

  • @revhead104 YES YES YES YES YES! YES, ROUNDTREE! YES, GROVNER!

  • I wish that girls were as they were back then, but you know if we were all gentlemans :/

  • @jhmm15a at least some of us can try.. i met only one lady in my whole life in my age.. interesting.. and i know only 2 gentlemen

  • Girls were better back then. Maybe.

  • @muzboz "Girls were better back then"? You're lost in a fantasy. Believe me, very few "girls" -- or women either, by the way -- looked like that. Even Bridgett Bardot did not look remotely like this past age 40 -- maybe too much time spent out in the sun. The years have not been kind to her. Even so, this dreamy music combined with the fantasy-inspiring photo is perfect. But I'm not sure that world ever fully existed -- not for much longer than it took to snap this photo.

  • This song is even more dreamy when listened to with a good pair of Koss headphones............

  • What a marvelous time in Earth's history to have been alive. The 1950's when America was more innocent and kinder and Europe was more acceptable of Americans. This photo is what dreams are made of...........Hanging out on a yacht in St.Tropez with BB sitting on the helm. Such days and visions are long gone from us.

  • @TheDiscoDays it wasnt exactly as rosey as that , there was still things like racism and slavery you can have good times like yachts today and who gives a damn what another contenet thinks of the US tho we should strive to be better we shouldnt let other people push us into it

  • @cannonj16 Hello? The legal slave trade in the U.S. ended in 1865, at the end of the Civil War. Slavery exists today in portions of Africa and in an illegal international slave trade involving immigrants lured into countries then trapped. Racism crops up around the globe and among a variety of peoples. But basically you're right; the 50s was not entirely innocent, and today women can still recline on the deck of a yacht in a bikini -- if they're rich, or know someone who is.

  • @TheDiscoDays ....thats true...nowadays...its more like snooki puking overboard while her dip shit friends laugh on.

  • Perfection , Why couldn't we have another Bardot and Manciini. She was so pretty , god created a mastepiece.

  • @cykirk2010 Because there can never be another Bardot and Mancini.............epics in their time...........I sure would have loved to have been on that yacht !!!!!!!

  • I want to go to St.Tropez and listen to this song before I die !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I always slightly amazes me how the younger generations are not familiar with icons of the past times... Like Brigitte. :)

  • @Jemacki However, in the future the next youner generation will not know who Justin Bieber was either. It all sort of works out, right?

  • I wish the song lasted much longer.........very haunting and Surreal............The imagination one gets while listening with headphones and closing one's eyes !!!!!!!! St. Tropez, France must have been a wonderful place in the 50's and seeing a young, beautiful Bridget Bardot on a yacht !!!!!!

  • @TheDiscoDays I know what you mean, but it's the length of it that keeps me listening to it, and wanting more. I don't think I've ever stopped this song before it ends, and I probably would have if it were longer.

  • great sounding...thanks...groovy

  • People forget Dude...the brain is largest erogenous zone.

  • This completely relaxes me......Real Classy Music...

  • i feel like having a white russian while hearing this :)

  • While we're doing 'Lujon', let's look at the pretty women slideshow version.

  • @ArnoldtheDestroyer And a man with a stick.

  • This isn't a "classical tune". But cheers for posting.

  • Hey Jackie, I dig the way you do business.

  • wonderful

  • Hank Mancini,... King of Smooth Swank and Lounge Jazz..wow!.. and this shot of Bardot could just burn a hole right through my computer screen! I'm tellin' ya, the kids nowadays just don't know what the hell they missed, I remember the early sixties, I think the US and the world for that matter were at their cultural defining moments then before it all started downhill.

  • @TheEldoradoKid Yes, I agree whole heartedly with your assessment... the early sixties was our defining moment in America. If you didn't live thru it... "ya just don't know what the hell ya missed".

  • Fabulous!

  • I listen to this song with a glass of wine and starred at Brigette and went into a coma.

  • @alrozz your comment should be the top one, dude, trust me

  • Ah, yes, "Sexy Beast". Thanks for posting!

  • White Russian ?

  • elegance

  • When I hear this tune it takes me far away with no care in the world or at present. One thing about beautiful music it can make you feel free and and lift your soul to a level that no one may know even if it's just for a moment. I pick the best songs and instrumentals for my own personal enjoyment. Mancini is just one of them. I thank my Mother for having all those records. Thank you for bringing good music to this media.

  • Lujon, the instrument, is aka Flopanda -a type of marimba, same instrument played by Victor Feldman, on the now cropped up intro to Steely Dan's "Rikki Don't Lose That Number ".

  • @egyptianminor

I have to put that one on now, to see if my version has him on it. I have what little there is of Felder. Thanks so much for the instrument lesson. I play drums but wihed I'd have picked Vibes. I just hated learning to read music.

  • This was from one of my favorite all-time albums -- "Mr. Lucky Goes Latin". It had some spectacular melodies and orchestrations on it. Unfortunately, the album is long gone, but thanks to you for posting this!!! Any more from the same album? Keep on uploading! P. S. "Lujon" is Spanish for "luxury", and the word fits the song!

  • Love this tune....so sexy, makes me want to drink

    Mojitos under the setting sun

  • Arnold;

who is the model in the photo?

  • Thank you Mr. Mancini....wish we could go back in time.

  • If I made love back then with Brigette Bardot, I would've wind up in a coma.

  • Hear that haunting percussion in the opening? That's the "Lujon", an instrument made for John Lewis from the Modern Jazz Quartet (and a pun on his name).

  • Sugar white sand, azure blue seas, warm breezes setting the palm trees swaying, the sound of the waves lapping up on the beach, the shrill call of a tropically hued bird in flight...some small island in the South Pacific

  • Again more. Great music from Henry Mancini when listening to lujon I picture. Myself walking on the beach with my woman in some south sea Island.

  • Yes that lady is a total knockout!

  • Every time I hear this I think of Ray Winstone in the brilliant movie Sexy Beast just before Ben Kingsley arrives to spoil the party.

  • @ZEROTHEHERO1960 I was just thinking where I heard it from.. All time best rolling stone movie :) thx

  • song matches perfectly with the beautiful brigette

  • "Two lovers" A great movie

  • BCOMES BEAUTIFUL WHEN THE FULL GROUP COMES IN

  • Class!! That's all that can be said about this tune. Very Classy. Very Henry Mancini.

  • Fråga Olle

  • I LIKE THIS, BUT FOR HENRY THE ENDING IS RATHER ABRUPT. SEEMS THEY COULD HAVE ENDED WITH A COUPLE OF MORE NOTES.

  • great song.to bad a libral pervert had to mess it up.

  • the big lebowski

  • Mr Lucky Goes Latin. I have this album and every song on it is awesome. The Great Mancini he is.

  • also in Sexy beast

  • I think this originally was from My Lucky, right?

But of course, me and so many others became aware of this song because of its inclusion in the Coen Brother's - The Big Lebowski.

  • What a peaceful, easygoing song. Definitely music to unwind to. Mr. Mancini does it again.

  • what's the movie it is from?

  • @meliniak It's from a movie by the Cohen brothers called The Big Lebowski.

  • @meliniak Also in Two Lovers

  • So beautiful, and alluring. She got my attention right away. Lujon is astounding. Timeless music. Thanks Mr. Mancini.

  • Henry Mancini inspired the whole world, especially children...he's the greatest.

  • freestyle fellowship - mary

  • Wow! I forgot there was a time in my life when women were appreciated for what they got from God--not their trainers and their surgeons.

  • This is so brilliant and beautiful at the same time!

  • yeh, me and my bloke are going to get married to this tune and be all lovey dovey like dee dee and gal.....

  • Who's the woman in this picture?

  • @Cloudofthorns it's brigitte bardot :)

  • @ArnoldtheDestroyer Yes, Brigitte Bardot when she was very young and brunette!

  • @ArnoldtheDestroyer

Thanks. She must have been pretty young when this picture was taken, as I couldn't recognize her.

  • @ArnoldtheDestroyer

They sure don't make em' like that anymore....

  • @ArnoldtheDestroyer Brigitte was bad as heck. I'm a fan of her's, even now.

  • @ArnoldtheDestroyer HUBBA HUBBA What a Doll! The music suits her well, soft and sultry just the way I like 'em yeahhhhhh!....

  • @ArnoldtheDestroyer Yes! Is herself! It's magnificent!!

  • Brigitte Bardot in her twenties. The French actress.

  • @Cloudofthorns Isn't it Bridget Bardot?

  • @tomcatv1 Correct, that is indeed Brigitte Bardot.

  • I believe this song is also called "Slow Hot Wind" ?

  • I want to fall in love when I hear this song. It is about love-- a sad love. I can't stop listening to it.

  • @JacksSonKenny tie them up?! wtf dude!!!

  • Hooverphonic sampled this song! It had been bugging me because I knew I recognised it straight away

  • @theonlyonebuttwo what is the name of the song that used this sample? i would like to hear it

  • @htprost search for "no more sweet music" on youtube it should be the first video :)

  • It reminds me of kicking a Big Daddy's arse in Bioshock... whilst ballroom dancing. ("At the same time?!" you ask, yes, at the same time!)

  • Hey Dude, I'm Jackie Treehorn.

  • When I listen to this song I want to get married immediately.

  • That rug really tied the room together.

  • everyone should open their ears n listen to some of these artists...joe cuba with his song mujer divina, and this one ive uploded in my channel , have a nice one

  • how good is that??!!??!!!

  • there' s something "magic" in this music....maybe is the perfection in mixing strings with trumpets......only an huge artist could create all this.

  • @antonietto1

i agree pure magic , no need pot , no need beer, no need jump like a fuckin maniac, just need be awake n breath , beautiful times, beautiful music for a beautiful cause....woman

  • I have to listen to it often. It is one of the most beautiful compositions ever.

There will never be another Henry Mancini.

  • I agree.

  • This is the most beautiful piece of music that will ever be written no one will ever top it x x x x x
