The "HQ Filter" in the ZSNES emulator makes this game look about as good as it does on an actual SNES / TV. This, here, appears to be ZSNES, but it was posted years ago and there seems to be no filters in use. Just wanted to let people know how good this looks / is with ZSNES on comp. The version of ZSNES I use is 1.51, dated Jan. 24th of '07.
1. Yes, you CAN get Shadow permanently BUT you have to do it early in the game. When you're just about to leave the Floating Continent (after having defeated the Legendary Atma Weapon and JUST before you escape back to your ship), you need to wait until until you have I think about 3 seconds left (mind you it's been a long time since I've played this game) but at that time, if you're still waiting, I am pretty sure he will meet up with your party.

hmm.. i just noticed that this final battle references to the Divine Comedy, a work of Catholicism beliefs in afterlife(where Dante goes through Hell, Purgatory and Heaven), and the first leg of this battle is appearently Hell, next is Purgatory, and we can guess the one with Lady and Sleep (representing Jesus and Mary) is heaven. The battle with Kefka, references when Dante meets God, and tells Dante the meaning of life. In here, Kefka tells them that life is pointless.
i'm not sure, but i hope it wont be made on the DS. did you see ff iv on the dds? the graphics were hideous and everything gave me a headache. it was such a pain to play. best to leave it as it is, unless they're actually going invest in it and make it good.
FFIV looked good imo. And by they'll prolly remake FFV first, and then VI. By then Nintendo will hopefully have released a new DS with about PS2 level graphics.
pssht lmao, DS with PS2 graphics? not even, the PSP can't even play PS2 games because it can't handle the graphics of the PS2, The DS will need extreme upgrades and Nintendo will have to spend a lot of money just on that. FFXII: RW had a really hard time on the graphics when the FMVs and they looked crappy. I would guess that they would remake first FF6 because it was more popular, FF5 and FF6 are really comparable and FF5 will probably beat FF6 in plot and stuff but FF6 wins on popularity.

Or perhaps the 3d Final Fantasy games were aimed at children and celebrated anime with spiked hair and massive swords. Not everyone is on board with that and certainly not myself. On the other hand, FF6 is refreshingly humourous while still having a great storyline. None of that requires 3d graphics.
What I always hated about early FF games was that you had to go back and replay to understand the story better. I just never understood what the fuck was going on most of the time.
It seems to be that Ultimas spell power is no longer the ultimate spell in damage as the name implies throughout the rest of the series. Unless that was changed in 12 or 32.
Nice fight man, I love these type of challenges although I find that FF6 can get to easy because of an over powered party so I created my own bosses which are quite formadable.

Best Combo for this boss... Terra spamming Ultima. Celes spamming heals and res. Sabin and Locke spamming Ultima too, deals over 9k dmg to all parts and Celles should have a shit ton of mana for heals. fast as hell...

Rofl. Let's be serious here, we're comparing a game with a story so complex that it is constantly being discussed. How can Cloud be a boring protagonist? His backstory is more complex than every FF6 character's life story COMBINED. 6 had a good story, but its lack of depth definitely keeps it a notch below FF7. Stories need more than just good characters and development in their personalities. Stories also need stories that deliver consistently in terms of interesting complications and events.
Its full of plot holes,for example at the end of the game we see Red 13,last of his kind,running with his kids,and thats all,nothing is EVER explained to you at any point in the game.

FF6 is really FF3,and the leap from FF2 to FF3 is breathtaking.
We have real,likeable characters,a level up system that doesnt suck,more characters in battle then FF7,The game can technically only be beated with Celed,Edgar,Sabin,Setzer only.
I got all that cause the fanbase was increased due to it being the first FF on the playstation. It was a lot of people's first final fantasy and really helped to kick off the rest of the series. I know a lot of people who really like FFX and was their first FF to play cause it was on the PS2 and wanted soemthing to play.
FF7>FF6. Yes, FF6 had the deepest and most likable characters from, probably the entire series, but it has a very simple story. The second half of the game contributes nothing to the main plot. It's simply prepare to go after the villain. Whereas FF7 was loaded with plot twists that kept you interested. Saying FF7 is overrated is like saying Michael Jordan is overrated, sure it might hold some truth, but it's irrelevant because this subject is the best of its kind.
Lots of plot twists does not equate to a better story nor does less plot twists. No matter how complicated, convoluted, or simplistic a story arc is what makes it good or bad is how well it is told and the quality of the characters it is told with. Which Final Fantasy you or I think told the best story is based on our own opinions, but to argue that a plot is better because it had more twists just doesn't suffice.
ehh probably not.. theyre remaking the old final fantasy games (1-6) only on the handheld platforms now, unfortuantely. so if they do remake this game, it will probably look like final fantasy IV or final fantasy III. oh well at least its a 3-D remake.
this is my all time fav ff and i agree this is the best rpg in the snes series. chrono trigger was cool but far too easy especiall with the new game plus. at least ff4 and ff6 had challenges where u can lose. i loss alot more on ff4 and ff6 then i did on chrono trigger.

What I love about this is that the final bad guy isn't just some cliche ultimate evil force that pops out of nowhere, he starts as a psychotic lackey who pesters you throughout the game and eventually builds himself to become the ultimate threat in the end.
And the scene before you face Kefka is sheer perfection. The incredibly creepy music alone really gives you the sense that you're facing a psychopath who has achieved godhood and has really ****ed over everything in the process.
Screw that! He killed General Leo and Emperor Gestahl, and Cyan's family, and pretty much everyone else in Doma, and Shadow(If you didn't get him in time), and just about every adult in Mobilz.
You thought VII had some creepy/eerie settings? No comparison. Just look at the detail and the anguish as the vine progresses.
Pure evil.
And Dancing Mad is my favorite of Nobuo's pieces. It surpasses the overrated One Winged Angel by a long shot, in my opinion. Other than the Zeromus theme.
The monster art is so amazing as the characters move up the vine. It's so mysterious and creepy-looking. And the music couldn't be more fitting!! It's a brilliant game...
To all those saying it was remade on PS1: I'm talking about a full scale remake, complete with updated graphics, full orchestra music, vocals, awesome FMW sequences, the whole 9 yards. The PS1 "Port" was pathetic.

1. Where do you go to have Odin converted to Raiden?
2. How do you get Crusader the Magicite?
3. What lineup is good for the final battle against Kefka?
4. Is it good to have Terra use Ultima or Sabin plainly because Sabin has a higher magic damage ratio?

It seems to be that Ultimas spell power is no longer the ultimate spell in damage as the name implies throughout the rest of the series. Unless that was changed in 12 or 32.

Nice fight man, I love these type of challenges although I find that FF6 can get to easy because of an over powered party so I created my own bosses which are quite formadable.

Best Combo for this boss... Terra spamming Ultima. Celes spamming heals and res. Sabin and Locke spamming Ultima too, deals over 9k dmg to all parts and Celles should have a shit ton of mana for heals. fast as hell...

Rofl. Let's be serious here, we're comparing a game with a story so complex that it is constantly being discussed. How can Cloud be a boring protagonist? His backstory is more complex than every FF6 character's life story COMBINED. 6 had a good story, but its lack of depth definitely keeps it a notch below FF7. Stories need more than just good characters and development in their personalities. Stories also need stories that deliver consistently in terms of interesting complications and events.

Its full of plot holes,for example at the end of the game we see Red 13,last of his kind,running with his kids,and thats all,nothing is EVER explained to you at any point in the game.

FF6 is really FF3,and the leap from FF2 to FF3 is breathtaking.
We have real,likeable characters,a level up system that doesnt suck,more characters in battle then FF7,The game can technically only be beated with Celed,Edgar,Sabin,Setzer only.

I got all that cause the fanbase was increased due to it being the first FF on the playstation. It was a lot of people's first final fantasy and really helped to kick off the rest of the series. I know a lot of people who really like FFX and was their first FF to play cause it was on the PS2 and wanted soemthing to play.

FF7>FF6. Yes, FF6 had the deepest and most likable characters from, probably the entire series, but it has a very simple story. The second half of the game contributes nothing to the main plot. It's simply prepare to go after the villain. Whereas FF7 was loaded with plot twists that kept you interested. Saying FF7 is overrated is like saying Michael Jordan is overrated, sure it might hold some truth, but it's irrelevant because this subject is the best of its kind.

Lots of plot twists does not equate to a better story nor does less plot twists. No matter how complicated, convoluted, or simplistic a story arc is what makes it good or bad is how well it is told and the quality of the characters it is told with. Which Final Fantasy you or I think told the best story is based on our own opinions, but to argue that a plot is better because it had more twists just doesn't suffice.

ehh probably not.. theyre remaking the old final fantasy games (1-6) only on the handheld platforms now, unfortuantely. so if they do remake this game, it will probably look like final fantasy IV or final fantasy III. oh well at least its a 3-D remake.

this is my all time fav ff and i agree this is the best rpg in the snes series. chrono trigger was cool but far too easy especiall with the new game plus. at least ff4 and ff6 had challenges where u can lose. i loss alot more on ff4 and ff6 then i did on chrono trigger.

I love the older school rpgs much better then todays. I am currently playing Arcana for the super nes or aka cardmaster in japan. yup great 1st dungeon crawler rpg, not your typical wizardry game though. rpgs back in the good ol days kicks todays games in the ballz. just game in general

I don't know why, but the part before you fight Kefka feels as if you've gotten straight into his head. You can just feel the pure evil and insanity.
This has some of the best direction I've seen in a 2D RPG.

What I love about this is that the final bad guy isn't just some cliche ultimate evil force that pops out of nowhere, he starts as a psychotic lackey who pesters you throughout the game and eventually builds himself to become the ultimate threat in the end.
And the scene before you face Kefka is sheer perfection. The incredibly creepy music alone really gives you the sense that you're facing a psychopath who has achieved godhood and has really ****ed over everything in the process.

My favorite Final Fantasy of the series.
You thought VII had some creepy/eerie settings? No comparison. Just look at the detail and the anguish as the vine progresses.
Pure evil.
And Dancing Mad is my favorite of Nobuo's pieces. It surpasses the overrated One Winged Angel by a long shot, in my opinion. Other than the Zeromus theme.
