While I agree the MV production has made 2:18~3:14 unnecessary and irrelevant to the song, I have to disagree with the direction a lot of the people are taking their criticism.

1) If you know anything about music video production, you will know the song recording and all the video scenes are recorded completely separately. Sometimes there's hours of footage and scenes to be selected from. The artist herself may not even know how the video will come out.

2) Few songs from the dawn of time did not come with dancing. Think about folk songs. If you think there's no more sensual songs in existence in the earlier days to appreciate more intimate relationships then you naieve and gullible. From her perspective, with her talents and qualities she had little reason not deliver that appeal. There's nothing inherently wrong with her direction. The only question is how her production company choose to market and edit her work and how consumers receive it.

If you still have trouble understanding the power of video editing, youtube search "Scary 'Mary Poppins' Recut Trailer" and "500 days of summer recut as a thriller" or "The Shining (Happy Version)"

Most times the artists are told to just film the scene and trust production will put it together. However, production dictates the tone and feel of what you see more than most people realize.
