I keep thinking Lester Flatt but it keeps coming out more blues than I've ever heard Lester do! The more I listen the more it seems like the notes get "tied" in pairs. I've got the pick direction down with the up/down and fingering is good. Overall speed is okay (about 170 on the metronome right now but getting faster) but something's just not there.
I do appreciate the advice. Keep the licks coming. They really are good.
Hi Steve. Thanks for this lick. Looking forward to many more! I'm working up to speed on this one but mine has a distinct "blues" sound to it. I'm not sure what's wrong. It's missing the cadence yours has. Any suggestions as to how to work on the timing to get it to sound "right?" Thanks!!
Enjoying the licks . I appreciate the way you teach them slow and repeat several times- a great way to learn. Well done.

You just have to think "Bluegrass"... sometimes I do this lick in the last section of a break on Nine Pound Hammer or in the B part of Salt Creek.
