  • Owen -

Yes, I did lots of ZAPPA transcriptions. I've got lots of stuff from Frank himself and lots of other people all over the world. Drum stuff...orchestra stuff...If you want to see any of it, just let me know. CYGNUS and HEMISPHERES are my favorite Rush pieces.

My son is 16 and plays trumpet, and really wants to go to BERKLEE. What do you have in mind for the future? What grade are you in? You can write to me at Kobbes07651@aol.com

  • Owen, I enjoy listening to you play.

I'd love to hear you play CYGNUS X-1 and/or HEMISPHERES.

By the way, I was your father's roomate at BERKLEE.

I'd love to hear from him.

  • @Mikeyg161 Wow!!!! Are you the guy that did all the Zappa transcriptions? If so, my dad tells me all kinds of stories about you I'll tell him to contact you. How did you find me?

    -Owen

P.S. Cygnus and Hemispheres are no problem.

  • Awesome job on the recent lift review young man. Not sure how I missed this one, but you have straight up done a bloody good job with it. Has Peart been in touch yet? If not, he's no doubt seen this and is looking both ways over his shoulder.

  • @paradiddlegroove What's up man!!! Thanks for the support. Neil hasn't been in contact with me yet. :( I hope he does though! peace

  • It's awesome!!!!! :D

    When a cover of YYZ?

Ahh, and I don't know if it's the video or my computer but your video of the test of the Arti Dixson bass drum lift isn't playing.

If the problem is with the video could you try to re-post it please???

  • @Rushfan551 YYZ should be up soon. I have it down, but I just have to find some time to record it. I'm just so busy all the time. Also, there is a working version of the Lift vid up now. Something happened when I sent it in for monetization.

  • Wow nice job kid!!! You are a protege!!!

  • Wow nice job kid!!!

  • Ace work bro.......!!

  • Wow, Portnoy himself said this was one of Rush's songs which gave him the most trouble when he had started playing. amazing cover.

  • nice!

  • First, let me say that I am 57 years old and know absolutely nothing about the art of drumming. I have been a RUSH fan for may years, and an admirer of Neil Peart. I enjoy watching your talent. Are you self-taught? Keep up the good work!!!!

  • sweat job see my videos

  • Oh my god.....I quit forever. hahaha not really but dude, this is amazing. Ive been playing drums for a year and a half now and Ive always been to intimidated to take on rush.....you've changed that today. Never quit and thanks sooooooo much

  • hey bro nice ive been playing drums for 8 years, and i just learned this song keepfoin kid, mabey ill see you in the bigtime:)

  • Hey Owen!! If your ever wanting to be in a band or anything send me a message. I'm also am a musician.

  • Damn kid....awesome. anyone can play yyz but la villa is a tough one. great camera angles 2

  • Who was filming this?

  • @helloz07 My mom was on the front camera and my dad was on the side camera. My mom did a better job of keeping it still, my dad was a little shaky but was trying to get more angles. A little amateur... I know. :)

  • @OwensDrumming Did you learn this off ear? Since i find drum tabs hard to navigate with, i play it off ear. and i never remember all the hi-hat tricks during the guitar solo

  • @LivingInTheLimeligh7 Yes. I did.

  • This I would say is possibly the hardest rush song to play and you pretty much mastered it . I've play this song to but none of the fill;s sound that great because of fact I only have a 5 peice.

  • kid u f'n rock, that song is hard as hell 2 play but u made it look simple.

  • nice drumming. you should try the song xanadu

  • You are truly amazing Owen and I am mesmerised everytime I watch you :0) xxxJoolsxxx

  • ALL of your videos are amazing, but this one is infinitely more amazing than all the others. Superb job. As for the 2 dumb dumbs that disliked this, the better you get the more folks are going to be jealous. Keep working hard and honing your incredible talent. Believe me... the higher you go, the smaller those dumb dumbs will appear.

    Standing Ovation!

  • you rock on all the RUSH songs

  • Excellent work, Owen! As many others have pointed out, this is a very hard song to play, and you have done an amazing job. Keep it up! Best wishes. --ag

  • I am 48 yrs old and I wish I could have played that song at 16 let alone 12 or 13,,Guy you have mad skills and I think you have found your calling in life.I know you will go far and to be so young and a peart fan tells me that you not only have crazy skills, you also have musical taste. Keep on playing that way and one day I can say I first saw him on the net.

  • Wow... just wow. I myself am a drummer (not nearly as good as you!) and I see alot of young drummers on YouTube and one thing separates you from alot of them. You're making music, not just beating the crap out of some drums. Really, you are extremely talented for your age. If anyone ever tells you you are a crap drummer, or you should quit, etc. DON'T LISTEN TO THEM they're probably just jealous. Really, Peart would be proud. You inspire me alot and dang i'm out of room D:<

  • You melted my face, kid! it was awesome!

Rush played this song last August when I saw them at the Minnesota State Fair.

  • Hey Owen, Another triumph of the will. Good job. Once again, you made it your own and competently played a very tough song so that it seemed fluent and musical. Keep it up and you will go far.

  • Very well done Owen! This is such a hard song to play well and you do it justice. It takes technique, stamina and complete concentration to go through this song in its entirety. Bravo!

  • Keep this up and you are going to run out of ways to challenge yourself!! Great job..... I enjoy EVERY one of your Vids!!!! Your an incedible drummer!!!

  • Wow, you are well on your way kid!

  • What are the chinas under and above the 20' diamondback???

  • @Mnog10 Thanks for the comment!!! I have a Sabian 18" XS20 china (natural) on the bottom, and a Sabian Paragon 19" china (brilliant) on the top.

  • nice

  • Been watching you here for 6 months now but this morning needed to create an account so I could comment. I am not famous, but have supported my family for 25 years playing the drums. You are an incredible drum talent. I have never seen anyone master La Villia with such perfection. You amaze me, along with all the musicians I send to your site. You have what it takes right now to be in the big time. What is the connection to Sennheiser, and where did you get the RUSH track without Neil?

  • @ZacharyRiedel Thanks! Comments like that are the fuel that keeps me going. The music actually has Neil in it. The song you are hearing is the exact same song off Hemispheres just with me drumming on top. Neil's drums aren't taken out. I have to be extremely precise with every stroke to make sure that it matches up to exactly what Neil is playing. Also, the Sennheiser banner- They helped me out with a lot of my mics and got me to NAMM in CA. Great people, so I wanted to give a little shout out!

  • Owen. Bravo. Rich, Krupa, Bellson, Morello and all the drumming legends are smiling. Your best effort yet.

  • The wait was well worth for this video. What was really good about this video is that your very tight with your snare drum and geddy's bass at times like 5:26 and 5:29 and many more times. But what i didn't like is that on 2nd strangiato theme on exit stage left, he's workin the cowbell. I gotta have more cowbell! JK! Great Job.

  • @2112rushfan1 Thanks!!!! I actually was thinking of throwing in the cowbells there, but the after I recorded it and we started editing, the cowbells didn't sound good with Neil's track behind it because he was playing something different. I recorded it again this way, which sounded the best. If I were doing the Exit...Stage Left version though, the cowbells would DEFINITELY be in there. Glad you enjoyed.

  • Fantastic job, one of my favorite RUSH songs (of which I have many). I'm taking my wife, and 9 year old son to see them on the 28th. Your kit just keeps getting better and better, along with your skills.

  • @sgtpepper1138 Thanks!! Glad you enjoyed. I work my butt off mastering these songs. Hours upon hours of practice.

  • @OwensDrumming your awesome owen. my sisters boyfriend is a drummer of 21 years and he still has difficulty with tom sawyer, i've almost got the first part down but even with hours of practice just like you it will take me forever. upload more rush. Owen, bud you got a career ahead off you just keep at it i swear you'll have it made. good luck. your friend John

  • @OwensDrumming Oh trust me, you're preaching to the quire. I don't have the kit to play RUSH (well, I don't record them), but when I record stuff for my channel, I try to get all the nuance of the the original recording. I know some people do their own version, but I like to try and copy it as exact as I can. I think everyone can see your improvement through your videos, each one getting better and better.....dang it, now I need to put up more videos.
