  • I just finished The Rules of Survival. I think the author is Nancy Werlin... I'm usually not one for realistic fiction, but I really liked it. Go Ask Alice is always a good book to read too. It's eye opening.

  • Wayside school rocks!

  • I love Wayside School! Whenever my sister asks me what she should get as a tattoo if she ever gets one, I tell her to get a potato on her ankle!

  • Nerdfighters! I need your help!

My 10-year-old sister and I are going to start a video blog. My mom bought us both handheld camcorders. However, the video file format from the cameras in .mov, and my sister only has/knows how to use Windows Movie Maker, which doesn't take .mov files. I tried using the Rad Tools converter and it screwed up my video.

Anyone have a suggestion? Maybe a cheap video editing software, compatible with Windows, that my sister could be able to use?

  • Try using Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere.

  • I actually meant to say "about the coolness of magic yetis."

    Eh, sorry.

  • You're so right are you coolness of magic yetis.

wow, you're brave to open that can of worms. i salute you.

  • What an awesome charity!

  • You've got a great screen presence! Clear, concise, great charities, there's nothing not to love about this video. ^^

  • Dr. Seuss is made of awesome.

i love them all... except the cat in the hat. don't like him.

everything else, though. and forget the being little part of the question, i still love reading them to my kids, all of them were teethed on Dr. Seuss, as was I.

  • re: Dr. Seuss, thought, i must announce a very sad tale.

since the man's death, they have "adapted" his great works.

i started to read the "adapted" Dr. Seuss' ABC to my toddler (who absorbs it all like a sponge), and i had to put the newly purchased book away and hunt yard sales until i could find it.

  • so anyway, about Dr. Seuss' ABC:

i got as far as not seing David Donald Doo before i looked ahead and realized that the many mumbling mice making midnight music in the moonlight were also nowhere to be seen.

not only that, Nixie Knox had been replaced by an x-ray and a xylophone.

    Eek.

  • Magic Yetis ARE cooler than ninjas and pirates combined! And so is this video.

Thanks for sharing your time and these awesome charities

DFTBA and have a fantastic nerdfighter day!

I really can'nt type... The excitement of this hasn't worn of yet. We two videos video on every page now!!

  • YETI POWER RULES!

  • Anyone have a recommendation for books to read?

Tons - first go back through comments and read people's current favorite books - I highly recommend George R.R. Martin's Ice and Fire series, Neal Stephenson's Snowcrash and other books, Susan Cooper's Dark Is Rising books, if you like that sort of thing :-)

  • Maxenetorg said: Yetis are more important than you think... in fact, I suspect many Nerdfighters (all nerdfighters?) are descendants of the ancient Yeti and may actually be Subgenii as well.

Does that mean Sarah is our ultimate leader?

  • Go Nerdfighters!

  • "Education rocks. It's how nerdfighers are born, really. You have a regular person, and then you add awesome (usually a byproduct of education) and you get a nerdfighter."

afterthree, you have nailed it!! Perfect!

  • library and reading charities are awesome! Thanks for info about such a great charity.

  • Okey fine, magical yetis are better then pirate ninjas >.>... Lol Great vid! And I'm so happy you finnaly found the Yeti, however I thought she'd look a lot different... Your charities are great!

  • what a great charity!

  • YETI!!!!!

  • We have a similar charity in New Zealand called Books in Homes. Sorry to ride on your coattails. Cool videos. Go Books.

  • magic smoking monkey, great name

  • Excellent charities! I'm always excited when I find charities designed to help children read. Plus, the name Magic Yeti is just awesome!

    NERDFIGHTERS!

  • Magic Yetis FTW!!

  • this is the second ROR promo and I'm glad to see that. And I have lots of books to give away so I'll check out the other charity too.

  • There was a book that I read when I was younger that I don't remember the title of, but it was the most amazing book ever. You read it through to the end, and then you turned the book upside down, and there was a continuation of the story. It was so cool!! Anyway, that's would I would send. Great charities.

  • So many comments - Thanks all!

How about this: What children's book would YOU donate to the Magic Yeti Library?

I think I might pick "Stella Luna."

  • great charities, magic yeti sounds so cool. i work for a theatre company called magic smoking monkey...reminds me of that. :-)

anywho: i'd probably donate either the first book i ever read, the day santa almost missed christmas, OR there's no such thing as dragons.

    hoo-hah!

  • Definitely Stella Luna. It was my favorite book besides all the Dr. Seuss ones.

  • Awsome charities!

  • Yetis are more important than you think... in fact, I suspect many Nerdfighters (all nerdfighters?) are descendants of the ancient Yeti and may actually be Subgenii as well.

  • DFTBA!!

    Super Video!!

  • hahaha magic yeti's... if only sarah green knew how sad it was that she is not indeed a magic yeti...bwahaha GO NERDFIGHTERS!

  • Magical Yetis are indeed more awesome than pirates and ninjas.

And they are not waging a war against the non-magical yetis.

  • DFTBA!

  • QUESTION! What is your favorite book now!?

I can't believe no one in this group has mentioned George R.R. Martin's books! The Song of Ice and Fire series is completely made of awesome! The only bad thing is waiting for him to write the next book! These are fantastic books and you ALL have to read them!! Now!! Get thee to the Library!! (Magic Yeti Library if you live in Nepal!) :)

  • My favorite books are all the Harry Potters!!

    NERDFIGHTER!!

  • Oh, I also can't believe no one mentioned any Neal Stephenson books yet - Snowcrash is an awesome book!

  • My favourite book now is Twilight.

Did anyone else notice he said December 7th, not December 17th?

  • Magic Yetis Rock!!!

  • awesome charities--and you're right, magic yetis are cooler!

  • Oh, I do love Chuck Palahniuk! I dated his cousin once... :)

  • QUESTION! What is your favorite book now!?

Oh gosh. I've taken to non-fiction lately - we just spent last summer/fall in Alaska and so I read Alaska books: I loved Into the Wild, and didn't know they were making a movie of it. The movie was awesome, but of course, I think it was better if you had also read the book. Two in the Far North by Mardy Murie; Tisha; and some Alaska mysteries. Sue Henry books really detail the lovely landscape, but Dana Stabenow is a much better writer.

  • My dad has a crazy collection of arctic disaster/adventure books--Alaska features prominently. We lived there for a long time, it kind of magical. Must be all the magic yetis!
