are you using a tube amp? is there a difference incomes to sound if you use solid state amp? cuz i know you only need the clean channel right?

there is no gin from the bad monkey that will make the ht-distx sound like it is worth shit. If you want that tone specifically your going to need to buy a valve king amp. it was all level on the bad monkey Zero Gain.... The gain is from the 3 pre-amp tubes an 2 power tube in the amp. Question for the poster* what is the the max Input level for that amp? doesn't that amp have a High gain and a low gain jack? just wondering, most amp wont allow that much gain without feedback issues

It would work, but it wouldn't give you that tube saturation that youd get from putting a bad monkey or another boost pedal infront of it. Putting an eq infront of it is like raising the volume of it if your just changing the gain.

Hi, i have VK100 with 1960A box. What volume do you use on your pedal? I have usually 4 o´clock and plugged in to input 2. But when I turn up the volume on VK to 5 or 6 it sounds like crap. Overdriven distortion or something.

Im running trough the clean channel..the pedal has the respons like an anp...the eq that i use on the amp is flat , and yes the sound his made only by the htdistx and Bad monkey! A screamer is very important to achieve this type of crunch. Thanks to everyone.

This pedal is absurd! Even if he recorded it with his cell phone it sounds awesome and I can confirm it sounds bonecrushing and facemelting. I bought it thanks to him and Im running it through a carvin t100 poweramp... It sounds so freaking amazing its annoying, lol!!! I played at a show yesterday saturday and everyone was freaking impressed with my sound! Super saturated sound and versatile pedal. Amazingly there is no fuzz or fizz in the tone.

Hi mydemise11, what settings do You use on Your ht-distx and bad monkey. I have those pedals and can't get anything cool out of them. The Bad Monkey until it's cranked really up, lowers the signal. When I turn it off, it seems that the sound is more clear. Please help.

Hello Bykulysy. If you freeze the video at 01:00 and at 07:00 you are able to see ALL my settings in the stomps...And the conections are: Guitar»Bad monkey»Blackstar» input of the amp. almost everything on the Blackstar is at 12 point

whitch you got first in chain ? I think you should have the bad monkey first efter the guitar and then the blackstar, if you run on batterys, dont, batterys suck ! then it should work fine,

mayhem doesnt have half of the gain of the distx

its a cool pedal though but it had a bit less gain than needed

I have got this pedal 2 years ago. ( i know the dealer, so i had got it before anyone ^^)

this sounds tighter with more meat than the tube mayhem.

It can be dialed to play any music general,

not only metal.

Tube mayhem is like is a screaming fuzz with less characteristic of a tube pedal than distX.

even my Boogie V-twin+booster cannot compare it.

although Boogie+booster sound pretty close to Blackstar...it's still more dynamic, raw and "in your face" sound...

The bad monkey here... you're using it as a kind of equalizer, right? Beause you have no gain put on it... so maybe, with a Sonic Stomp pedal you could achieve even greater tone cleaning...

probably, also, using a low gain pedal like this or a tube screamer in a high gain setup can really help to stop the bass from becoming muddy

I have the blackstar HT DIST. If I boost it with my fulltone OCD i will get a lot of feedback. Is there a difference between boosting with a Bad Monkey or a Fulltone OCD ?

I'd boost it with the Fat Boost. Or put the OCD in parallel with a noise gate. If you have the OCD, don't buy the Bad Monkey, it lacks dynamics, and sucks tone when off. I have no good results using the Bad Monkey. For the same price you can try the LPB-1, but it clips easily, although my HT-5 hides the fact it clips.

Hey, that's an amazing sound! I got the same pedals, the blackstar and the bad monkey, and I use the bad monkey as a tube screamer,

this I run through the clean channel of a VOX AC-30, and boy the bad monkey really tightens the sound of the blackstar while maintaining it's distortion quality

Perhaps i'll make a demo of my setup as well, really nice combination, those pedals:)

A distorçao é toda mesmo do pedal e do bad monkey, mas o pedal por si só é um monstro de som..epá em relaçao a vender o teu powerball , tens ai um ganda amp e o que eu tentei fazer foipor este a soar a um ENGL e acho qu está lá perto.O bom deste som é que eu tenho sempre definiçao no meio da barulho que é o ensaio na minha garagem.super satisfeito

In my model you dont need to remove the guard, but ive read that in the 112 you need to do it, i dont realy know...i use the BAD MONKEY to tighten up the sound yes..but it is my preference to have that "cruch/chunk/trashcan"palm mute sound..This is in fact a great pedal

Awesome sound! I have a Valveking 112 which I'm going to put either a V30 or eminence governor in and get myself one of those Blackstar pedals. Couple of questions though, did the V30s fit in without having to remove the guard from the power tubes? And why are you using the bad monkey? (I'm guessing to tighten up the sound a bit)
