best african-american singer until the latter 70s when donna summer came out. my mom and dad had lots of dionne warwick records when i was a very young child then when i was in the teens in the 1980s she had her early 80s comeback and i still love her music from the 60s and 80s.

dionne is a good singer and you have to give her credit for choosing good songs and producers to work with. her jazz-based songs are unremarkable and adult comtemporary is her craft not jazz. i'm assuming she was making r&b in the 1970s which was when radio ignored her.

I was 14 when this song was out but I couldn't admit to liking it at secondary school, 'cos you had to be into The Jam, Sham 69 or The Ramones. I'd have got my head kicked in for proclaiming my admiration for this song.

It's funny you say that as I watched this very video on Pebble Mill at 1 in October 82 when I was dying. I was only 7 at the time and a month away from my 8th birthday. I had severe gastroenteritis and was a skeleton. I thankfully made a full recovery apart from a weakened constitution. Whenever I hear this song I smile as I know I was on the road to recovery. It's true when they say music can stir the memories and you remember where you were at the time. Kudos for putting this on the net!

Love the song. Her studio version is awesome!....Live however she really has no stage presence. I hate to say it but she kind of looks stiff as a board and lacks any real charisma, atleast in this live video! She is still a great singer though!
I think it's because that's what she is concentrating on. Delivering her voice. That's probably why she didn't want to do the song in the first place ... because she didn't feel it was a fit for her. She delivers classic, vocal performances. I can't imagine anyone else singing this song. And the way she performs it is in her classic, and classy, style.

Love the song. Her studio version is awesome!....Live however she really has no stage presence. I hate to say it but she kind of looks stiff as a board and lacks any real charisma, atleast in this live video! She is still a great singer though!

I think it's because that's what she is concentrating on. Delivering her voice. That's probably why she didn't want to do the song in the first place ... because she didn't feel it was a fit for her. She delivers classic, vocal performances. I can't imagine anyone else singing this song. And the way she performs it is in her classic, and classy, style.

I only started knowing Dionne when I heard her tremendous voice in "We Are The World-USA For Africa".Her voice reminded me of Whitney Houston,and I didnt even know that they are cousins.What a coincidence.

It is not worth it. He is the only one takling about sex. Everybody else is takling about the song. He is sick. Very inmature! we will all get old, I hope someone gives him the tratment he is giving others now. I am in my 30's so this song came out when I was very young. It is a good song. I do not care what she looks like, she can sing. For a singer that sould be the thing you look at and think about, not sex.

Yep, the BEE GEE's put one hellava lot of input into music in general - not everyday a singer has a song witten for them especially by the Bee Gee's and neither did the Bee Gee's write songs everyday especially for such a talented " songstress ".
