  • @Thatdudeinthevideo a shockwave of pure lion-fucking awesome?.... I like that

  • I can't stop watching night after night.... The band playing in a different time signature is just killer. Whomever thought to put that camera up there has done a service.

  • 2:01 he shakes the goddamn camera with a shockwave of pure lion-fucking awesome

  • 1:51 Flawless Victory

  • god among men

  • @Pgrantham

Yes, they are a brain challenge much more than they are a body challenge

  • holy faaaack

  • @2:04 --- that's what the big bang sounded like.

  • I have to say that once you look at the whole body of works Danny Carey has created throughout his musical career so far, you would have to say he is one of the best to have ever picked up a pair of sticks and played a drumkit.

  • did Danny fart at 0:38? lol

  • @teejja123 want to know why danny carrey is so significantly tallented just like all. tool members? their illuminati, Danny's father is a 33rd degree FREEMASON

  • The pause at 2:03 is so cool

  • iv been working on the polyrhythm for like a month. i still have it close to down.

  • At 1:52 Danny is like a fucking blur. The speed, accuracy and power right at that point is amazing.

  • this is first thing i wanted to learn when I got a drumset

  • @supdenfoosukka ...may start a lil smaller dude xD hahaha

  • @XDariXx I got the 5/8 part down but that's it lol everything else is ridiculous

  • i've studied danny's work pretty intensely since opiate, not that i'msome authority for this reason. my impression, hopefully different than yours, is that danny's playing includes alot of intentional rule-breaking and reversals of things that a trained drummer would be taught, as if to say that the lessons are only half the importance of instruction, and that the other half is knowing what not to do and doing it anyway, and making it work.

  • With my feet upon the ground I lose myself between the sounds and open wide to suck it in. I feel it move across my skin.

  • as a drummer for over 17 years, trained in jazz drumming so im used to irregular, uncommon time signatures, and polyrhythms being my specialties......but it took me over a YEAR to perfect this polyrhthm....he must have been born with a metronome in his head

  • Am I the only one who's head almost explodes every time i try to comprehend how fucking amazing danny carey is?

  • i just looked up "tool fails" no videos came up :]

  • There's a part like this in Aenima that a drummer friend of mine always loved playing, although would make painful faces while keeping the beat.

  • @teejja123 It´s a polymeter. But great!

  • Ladies and Gentlemen ......Danny "The God" Carey!!!!!

  • i love and hate this man at the same time. why does he make it look so easy!

  • @dirtyzachattack This is easy! There are other parts in this song hard to play... in the beginning of practicing it.

  • Anybody who doesn't think this is cool needs their ass kicked. HARD.

  • IN AWE

  • AAAHH i need to see them so badly

  • 1:52 oh no he didn't!

  • @chaseyisawesome This always stands out as some of the best Tool drumwork ever!

  • Big Day Out 2011 whooo!!!!

  • The Eulogy Polyrhythm at about 6:30 is harder then this one, but its not about how hard it is..... you just have to think how could anyone think of this kinda shit its so much math!

  • there is no other drummer with this much precision and power...there are other drummers, with more precision, but no one can do things this intricate and complex with that much force...you take a brain surgeon mix him with a professional wrestler/martial arts master and give him a pair of drums sticks and you get Mr. Jesus H. Polyrhythm

  • @gonzomaniac71 2 words. Thomas haake

  • @TheDave000 close, but still no match, he has precise feet, but his hands don't do what Danny does

  • @gonzomaniac71 haake has amazing hands please stop worshipping drummers like if they were superior to all anymore. I'm a big fan of both (Haake and Carey) and believe me they are very skilled you just can't compare.

  • @gonzomaniac71 ya i agree, while both drummers try to stay in the odd ends of the rhythm thomas haake does use alot of double bass while hes doing his polyrhythms, even danny carey said himself his double bass is his weakness. but ya, danny's 4 way coordination to me atleast is better than thomas haake, but thomas haake also explores different aspects of music than carey, it's more progressive rock with carey and heavy metal polyrhythms with haake. both are my favorite drummers so whatever

  • @ryanbeatbox

You should check gavin harrison out from porcupine tree, if you haven't seen him yet!

That's my all time favourite drummer!

  • I love this beat. I learned independent coordination from playing to Tool. Danny just uses his hi-hat so creatively.

  • What an incredibly thoughtful and tasteful implementation of polyrhythmic drumming. Danny Carey is truly something special.

  • I've played along to a lot of tool stuff over the past year or two, but that beat has always messed my head up when ive tried to play it!!

  • 1:52 is just amazing

  • thats some fine drummin...............

  • from 2:22 on its just a frenzy of thunder and crazy. danny destroys

  • such focus and talent

  • that polyrhthm is redonculous lol

  • 1:55, what the fuck!!!!????

  • These are the best drum vids. Period.

  • Why the hell are all the songs divided up into several separate small clips!? wtf

  • Tool songs are only hard to learn and in my experience playing as many different types of music i can comes with a vast realm of ways to build and play beats

  • thats cool and thanks this is a very hard song to learn but just recently i got down the beats and instead of being hard its alot more fun.

  • ya ive played drums for a while and i barely noticed that

ive been learning this song and it might be the toughest song sice he alters it there are other videos of this song and he moves the tom rolls around too, it makes it so hard

  • To be honest, I kind of read your comment as the video was loading, then right away saw what you meant and your right. However, it still sounds good and works - he certainly has 2 different ways to do the beat conciously. When I said "in your opinion...", it was because you sounded like you're saying it's a must to have the coninuous high hat hit after the snare hit. It does make it sound a little better & more impressive, not that impressive is important in music.

  • look at him rockin the shit out of that ride cymbal!

  • @Pgrantham OMG I thought I was the only one who noticed that and I dont even play drums. I guess its easier to play the way he does in this video.

  • talk about mad skills

  • YES!!!!

  • Would be nice if you could find a way to combine clips into complete songs ;)

  • THANK YOU FOR THESE!!!!
