  • Director Christopher Nolan and DP Wally Pfister are just amazingly great. Can't wait to see their next project.

  • Please WB, re-release TDK in IMAX theatres annually. (just like The Polar Express)

  • @ohdaysoo I agree, every time i tried to see it in IMAX it was sold out! ReRelease!

  • Taller than it is wide? Sorry, Bob, it's 1.43:1. As in 43% wider than high.

  • Comment removed

  • just saw this at imax, and after seeing the imax sequences, you just can't wait for the next imax sequance to start again (black bars letter box formats suck)...

  • i saw this in imax and it was amazing!

  • I saw it in a regular theater first then in Imax and believe me Imax is MUCH better.

  • it will be great to see the best movie ever on imax

  • It's not the best movie ever but it is the best superhero movie ever and it looks great in imax the sequences shot with the camera's it makes you feel like you're watching your HD T.V. at home(if you have one) except 100 times bigger(no exageration). And the sound quality to it is perfect.

  • i've seen a lot of movies and this is the best movie thus far.

  • fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.........im my town there is an imax theater and they are not showing it..... 2 hours from here there is another imax theater and not showing it either.!! what the fuck!!!??

  • sorry chacashark that really sucks.

  • lol lol lol lol...ha ha ha ha ha..why so serious?..lol lol lol ha ha ha ha lol

  • Okay, I'm gonna go see this on wednesday... All I need to do is know is this the full movie or not? I already saw it at my local regular theater and I saw the WHOLE movie. But when I heard him say certain sections and see in the description for the film that it's shot in 6-4 sequences... I wanna see the FULL movie in IMAX. Not "Sections" my step-dad is REALLY looking forward to this and I want to make sure he sees the whole thing so he doesn't have to spend another 9 bucks to go see the rest....

  • uh, it's showing the full movie. they said they used imax cameras, but they don't need to only show imax filmed camera scenes on imax. you can put a regular film and turn it to imax. it's just that they USED a imax camera at some point. don't worry, they're definitely showing the full movie. ROFL.

  • the full movie is not shot in imax (this is the first studio movie ever to be partially filmed in imax), so you'll never see the full movie in imax.

when the imax sequences are shown, the entire screen will be filled. when the non imax scenes are playing, you will see black bars at the top and bottom of the imax screen.

  • hey!! will some one tell wats the diff in ord cinema and imax, i know its a higher res but is it 3D or wat?? anyone seen batman on both???? PLEASE TELL ME!!!!

  • its so cool in imax. at first ya got these 2 black bars than BOOM imax! wow , im thinking of going again in 2 weeks!

  • saw it at imax city walk 2day! fucken amazing!!!

  • So I can see the whole film in Imax, and certain scenes are in that format, or only I can only see certain scenes, which is useless if i don't watch the film?

  • what is imax???

  • hahahah

  • its like the screen is this giant dome and the seats are like laid back so u r lying down and it makes u feel like you are there. trust me it is amazing

  • imax is a theater that is like a wrap around theater, it's huge! and the sound is way better

  • not all imax theaters are wrap around and actually the flat ones get more of a 3d picture to it.

  • what is so good about IMAX?

is it just better resolution? or is the 3D that makes it so special? and if it is in 3D, wouldnt the picture be distort?

  • you should go see something in IMAX...anything, I think you'll like it.

  • Clayface!

  • Oh and third one is more focused on two face so I hear

  • This will be the best movie of the summer and most likely the year

  • I can't wait to see this film! I already bought my tickets for opening weekend. Even better I get to see this movie in IMAX

  • I'm predicting this to be the best movie of the summer.

Own opinion, if you don't like it, don't complain.

  • In the next batman movie I hope that they dont add the Riddler. I hate him. They should add Bane or the Penguin. But Bane is badass!

  • I know all the Oscar buzz is on Heath, as it should be, but I can't help but think Wally Pfister might win Best Cinematography. He was nominated for Batman Begins and The Prestige, but the sheer scope of this movie surpasses them both and that he's shooting in IMAX is pretty groundbreaking stuff.

  • ha ha! puase at 0:51!

  • 0:03 - Best part

  • Kate Beckinsale has expressed interest in portraying Catwoman in one of Nolans Batman films, although I do hope he reinvents Poison Ivy cause Schumacher screwed that up big time---perhaps Sienna Miller as Poison Ivy!!!

  • yea idk about Poison Ivy...she's not such a great villian, plus this is what Christopher Nolan said.

  • I hope nolan casts Brittany Murphy as Harley quinzel. she has the voice, she has the face and she can play a pretty decent psychotic if she wants to. she would be perfect for harley-quinn.

  • Not that I have anything against Beckinsale as Catwoman, but when an actor or actress expresses interest in a role, it means precisely dick. We don't even know if Catwoman is going to be in the next movie.

Robin Williams expressed interest in playing the Joker, but if the director didn't want him, then there's really nothing he can do about it.

  • Christopher Nolan did an interview with People Magazine and they asked him if he was planning on doing another Batman movie after "The Dark Knight". He said he was on the edge of whether to do that or not because of the whole Heath Ledger thing (what that has to do with anything, i do not know), but he said he's considering making one with Aaron Eckhart [No Reservations, The Dark Knight] as Two-Face, and Naomi Watts (King Kong] as Catwoman. Should be interesting...

  • I think he was doubting to do another one because maybe in his 'original' plot the Joker still had a big role to play in the sequel to The Dark Knight.

  • "He said he was on the edge of whether to do that or not because of the whole Heath Ledger thing (what that has to do with anything, i do not know),..."

Maybe thats because Ledger * D I E D * after filming the movie and most probably playing the character was partly responsible for him taking drugs and his eventual death..

    probably...

  • iMAX 2 the MAX!!! Quite a technical achievement alone to pull this off!

  • iMax is canadian

  • true :) damn so awesome

  • TDK will probably be the biggest film of this year

  • The biggest film of the decade.

  • Seriously, I think TDK will be in mind of everybody years(a lot) after the release. Maybe even more than Batman 89!

  • It will define epic.

  • it will define epic...and to think there will be another one after this sequel...it's gonna kick ass...

  • Tourné en IMAX! Question stupide, mais, est-ce que ça veut dire que le film va être en 3-D?

  • Non, l'image sera plus nette et de beaucoup plus grande qualité tout simplement! Une image ultra léchée en d'autres mots.;)

  • Christopher Nolan has shown us the way!

    Why won't they listen?

  • it's gunna b big!!!!!!

  • Not always true

  • Thats a bunch of bull. There were plenty of sequels that were better than their predecessors.

  • oscar maybe?

  • "oscar maybe?"

    definitely not maybe

  • The first time I saw the batman begins it was in IMAX, it was an experience not just another movie. I am going to cough up the extra 3 dollars to see The Dark Knight in Imax and I recommend that everyone else do the same. You won't regret it.

  • i smell a billion dollard worldwide

  • this movie will break box office records

  • chris nolan is the fucking man

  • Every single member of the cast and crew is brilliant.

  • I smell Best Cinematography for next year's awards.

  • omgsh...IMAX RECORDING??!! this movie is just going to be...beyond awesome!!

  • yeaaaaaaa

  • This will probably get negative comment's, but

what's the difference between IMAX and normal recording?

  • go watch a movie at an imax theatre..and youll find out...

  • IMAX is bigger film, higher resolution.

    Did you watch the video?

  • yup. And IMAX's new digital projection systems will have the same quality as old IMAX but will save movie theaters money as the film will be delivered by disk, not bulky film.

  • They should've given him the budget to film the entire thing in IMAX.

  • So let me get this straight: all other IMAX movies like I Am Legend were filmed in 35mm and then upconverted and printed on 70mm IMAX (blow-job) right? So all this time we were duped into watching some fucking fake 'IMAX Experience'? Shit.

  • your right on most of it he said SOME sections were filmed with IMAX so most of the movie will be upsized and the rest will be true IMAX quality

  • Well, at least such lies have allowed IMAX theaters to grow and develop. If it weren't for that development we wouldn't have much of a chance for real IMAX.

  • The Dark knight was not shot completely on IMAX cameras. Less then 8 seconds in you can see a standard 35mm camera rolling not the 70mm IMAX cameras. The IMAX cameras have to expose the larger film at 24 frames per second that they have to be put inside bullet proof casing just incase they break and some poor cam assist gets impaled. The Dark Knight used IMAX cameras only for the massive action scenes.

  • by the way, I work at an IMAX theatre, i know this for a fact, we were given notices from WB execs telling us this.

  • ok to clarify some things. Films that have been released in the IMAX are shot on regular cameras and then upconverted using HD transfer technology in order to give you that huge, but clear picture on the screen.

The Dark Knight is filmed with IMAX cameras, which means that rather than the movie having black bars on the top and bottom to keep the picture clear, the image will in fact fill the entire screen, no main stream film has ever done that, this is what Nolan means in the video.

  • will they be making a third because i heard that heath ledger was to be in it

  • at 1:10 the tumbler blows up

  • No,it seemed that way. The flames came from the rear of the Tumbler, but its still going.

  • I think it was the rocket motor on the back of it, so not it blowing up.

  • Does anyone know how much their acual budget for this film was? It must have been HUGE!

  • go on wikipedia its like 150 million

  • Imax is amazing 3-d, man i cnt wait that'll b awesome the joker will b laughing right in your face!

  • actually not all IMAX is 3D. the majority of it is just a giant screen with a super-high resolution and an awesome stereo system. I don't believe that The Dark Knight will be in 3D, it's just going to be the suped up version of it, like they did with Transformers and I Am Legend in IMAX

  • Is it the first because i thought some films were already in imax? Or is that the movie theaters? or the cameras being HD? HELP?

  • some films are already released in imax, just this year Transformers, Beowulf, and I Am Legend were released in IMAX. IMAX is different from the way a regular movie is shot because of the sheer size of the lens and the camera itself. it's able to capture more detail in every frame. but this is different from HD. HD uses a panoramic screen to record movie at a ratio of 1920x1080. IMAX uses a much taller ratio, almost 1-to-1. i dont know what the actual ratio is. hope that helps.

  • Oh okay i kind of get it know THANKS!

  • imax - what is that???

    p.s. cute.

  • hey.. hey seriously who ever said heath was depressed? the way I heard it was that he was suffering from insomnia AND he had pneumonia at the time of taking ambien which. depending on the side effects is most likely why he died,

  • No, in a way ur right, FatJack. Acting is like that-It's a constant mind frame. Jim Carey would smtimes totally ignore ppl for days just to fit in his role. And look at our skillful, Geoffrey Rush, in that Piano movie(forgottn' name). You can lose yourself - but! It had been a while since he did the movie too. Anyway...It is sad, and hurting...Peace, salams

  • Being The Joker killed him. No one can handle the mind of one whos mind has since left him... long ago.

  • His death had nothing to do with playing the Joker

He was depressed and Ill for a long time.

  • i dont think it directly killed him but i think it contributed to his depression and stuff

  • i have produced many music albums and there were times where the talent lived with me and their music (as i demanded) was brutaly honest. This often sunk me into their world. I hated it since these days everything is so blunt. No euphamism or pride. Just bare-it-all balls-to-the-wall. It can fuck your mind if you work on it more than a few months. (which for me is a breaking point of identity retention)

  • Britney SPEARS!!!!!!!!! what are u doing here ?

  • What the hell are you talking about?? This has nothing to do with the stupid video. OMG!

  • it would have been a tough role no doubt but u cant attribute that to his death. i think after this comes out people will hopefully forget brokeback and this will b his best ever role. michael cane actually said that from what he's seen this could be one of the greatest performances there's been. heath is already sorely missed.

  • I don't think that Joker's character was a good choice for a man who was down in the dumps. I don't want to blame anyone, anyway I'm a big fan of the film, and either Bale and Nolan. Ledger have been seen in a very bad condition a lot of the times lately which they added to the films charge and his depression. I'm just tryn' to get some sense about the thing... Rest In Peace Heath :(

  • Otherwise I'm really looking forward to the next academical awards 'cause I think Heath 'will' easily achieve a globe or a statue for his las appearance... Which would be a great thing in remembrance of him :)

  • academy, not academical...but yeah...

  • Well, Ledger said that he's never had so much fun on a film set in his entire life as he did playing The Joker...so I definitely don't think it contributed to any depression he may have been experiencing. Stress, yes...depression, no.

  • Heath will always be with us all hail JOKER....

  • RIP Heath, May you live on the big screen forever

  • cant believe he's dead. RIP heath

  • R.I.P Heath thanks for making the joker awesome

  • RIP heath

  • AWESOME

  • At 1:29 was I hallucinating, or was that a Lamborghini Reventon?

  • did you chek out the rims? they look lie the one in the reventon..but its too much of a car to be put in the movie.. i don;t know

  • i know what people are gona be dressing up for halloween this year...

  • LOL as an IMAX cam? LOL joke..I know.. I can c them too walking by..hehe

    AGM

  • LOL an imax cam....that would be odd.

  • I bet it would be odd! can u picture it? LOL

    hehe :D

    AGM

  • I so cant wait for this movie to come out, it looks awesome!!!!!!!!!!

  • This and Batman Begins have a more realistic feel to them, I like that. And Batman is my favorite "superhero" BTW, 100% badass.

  • true that, man

  • Chris Nolan's talking style is just like my uncle........hope it's gonna be very cool.......see what they did on that window gliding scene.......in the leaked six minutes footage.

  • What a pleasure it is to hear the cinematographer Wally Pfister talk about the IMAX cameras. IMAX is a complex and cumbersome technology to deploy in any case, and it has NEVER been used in feature-length motion pictures for this very reason. You can see that the filmmakers simply embraced the challenges of taking cinema to IMAX territory. They seem to have given the film their best.

  • i saw i am Legend at the Imax and they showed the 10 min robbery seen and the trailer but i cant find it any were on the net not even on the dark knight main page

  • WB has said that they will not put the prologue on the internet.

  • WB obviously doesn't have youtube. I've watched it like 5 times already. badass.

  • these youtubers are tricky ones.

  • how is imax differnt to normal cinema

  • The negative is 70 mm wide, as against the usual 35 mm film used in all other movies. This basically gives you a much "larger" picture.

  • it kinda gives u feel the feel ur there with it.

  • Chris Nolan is a GENIUS!

  • he is a movie god i loved batman begins and this sequel shall be so bad ass i'll dress up like heath ledgers joker for next halloween

  • I hope the Sequel will rock too! Hopefully it'll have a reputation like The Empire Strikes Back or Godfather Part II. Next Halloween I might dress up as Batman (even though he is a hero). Heath's Joker looks phenomenal! :)

Besides I'm aiming to bulk up to 200 lbs of muscle from my current 165 lbs by next year!

  • Dude.... your actually aiming to bulk up and train just to dress up as The Dark Knight?! sad

  • Actually its not just because I want to dress up as Batman! Its because I'd like to have a stronger body (in life), and also have the mass of it too (though not a ridiculous looking amount). I've succeeded in putting nearly 10 lbs on in the last 2 weeks because I've been eating loads of protein like mad :) - NO STEROIDS because they're just the easy way to look good...and then I know what'll happen (I'm all natural)

  • Batman Begins theme = greatest superhero theme ever

  • the x men one is quite good. film, not.... tv series though that ones quite good too

  • its been years since I've seen that cartoon.

  • I completely agree. Nothing comes close. Static-X does a really great job on that song.

  • Danny Elfmans Batman theme is 100 times better...I will say the trailer is killer im so amped to see this!

  • True, but a similar compliant was levelled at esteemed score writer Michael Nyman. A lot of his work borrows ideas or motifs from lesser-known Mozart pieces but uses them to create a different effect than intended by the original composer, therefore it could be considered original in that sense.

  • Granted, but when Nyman borrows motifs and phrases from Mozart (and let's face it, who doesn't?), those pieces have been around more than one year...and Nyman hasn't used that to become more famous than Mozart. ;)

Elfman swiped a phrase from a brand-new Chris Young score, built his entire Batman score around it, and as a result, became a bigger "name" than Young himself. That's what I object to.

That and people who dis the Begins score because it doesn't sound like Elfman's plagiarism. haha

  • at 1:30 there is a lambo cam car!

  • I'm glad Nolan genrally keeps things real, rather than all that CG crap in 300. At the rate comic adaptations are going they'll simply have the actora pose frame by frame (oh the horror)

  • 300 sucked

  • yea i know what you mean...it still sounds badass tho.

  • they added new music to the themme song. listen carfully at 1:11

  • Yeah your right nice find

  • :D awesome

  • SWEET
