I remember reading that this song was probably written in Okinawa in the late 1940s. I think it's considered a traditional song even though it's not really very old. It's a very beautiful song. It's amazing that it was the official song of the FIFA World Cup 2002 and that Argentinians fell in love with it (thanks to singer Alfredo Caseros).
@Jupitroid Shima Uta (島唄 Island Song?) is a 1992 song by the Japanese band The Boom. It was written by the lead singer, Kazufumi Miyazawa, based on his impressions from visiting Okinawa for a photo shoot.
i hope someone translate it in bahasa malaysia too! respect for someone translate it for me! easy learn in bahasa malaysia just said it what the vocal sound alike. bad english i think sorry......
It´s in brazil, the events that I go to have "matsuri dance",there are a lot of songs and it´s great cause it´s just some repeating moves that go along with the song so even if you dont know you can get the hang of it really quick.I think there must exist in other places too but I´ve never heard about it D: About the song I have no idea ;;" the one they use is a diferent version but with the same lyrics, don´t know where it came from D:-sorry for my bad english
"Matsuri" means "festival" in Japanese language. So, "Shima Uta matsuri dance version" looks like a modern "Bon dance" style :D I think it's so good Blazilian culture.
Excuse me , but If you can translate my broken english "Shima Uta" lyrics into Portuguese, I'll make it.
OMG I'm very pleased! I think my language there looks very beautiful, maybe the song is the reason! Thank you for the effort really also for that friend who translated it to Arabic <3
Yes I understand that and thank you in advance! Well here mostly jrock and kpop are most known. thedarkofthebleeding-san is actually my friend, he was introduced to Gackt by me. I'm spreading Gackt's fever to Arabic fans as much as I can :D
I think Arabic fonts are so unique. Because Arabian people have many important culture, customs, and history. There are so interesting and so difficult for me.
I admire this song is loved many people in many countries. Maybe Okinawan music scale is unique, too.

I... I don't really like vocaloid songs, but Shima Uta is one of my all-time favorites.
This was not only acceptable, but completely awesome. Faved and liked. So hard.

@AnimeFanGirl6 Thank you for watching :D
I've watched the matsuri dance version, a little while ago. Where was this dance worked out? At least I cannot think it's made in my country Japan.
They look like cheerful dances :D (but this song is originally an anti-war song, so it's a little wondering, I think)

Thanks for your reply (and your english is easy to understand for me):D
Oh, It's a brazilian style. My country is the far side of Blazil, but there are many immigrants from Japan. Nice to meet you ^_^
I guess "matsuri dance" results from Japanese classic dance "Bon odori (Bon dance)". This is usually danced at summer festival in every area of Japan.
