Hi, can you tell me how to mask? As I understand I must use photoshop, but how I get image of wall or other 3D object in to photoshop? Or do I need to use life time video (camcorder or camera connected?) Any help? Thanks
So you do the mapping in PS with an extended desktop onto video projector and just save as PNG?So I need to have both prgrams(photoshop and resolume) on the laptop.
For some reason, when I do the mask in Resolume seems to be smaller than when I was making it in photoshop. The lowest resolution available on my projector is 800x600 so I set Resolume to output in 800x600 then I also made my mask in photoshop on 800x600... but when I use the mask in Resolume it appears to be 10-20% smaller in the output. Any ideas what could be causing this?
Also, is there a way to lock the canvas in photoshop? It keeps moving when I'm drawing near the edge.
Hey, I had exactly the same problem with output sizes from photoshop to resolume and also the moving canvas when drawing near the edge. were you able to solve this problem?
@fordaloveable Unfortunately, no - I haven't found a good resolution for this yet. I've been spending more time doing other things like using a Kinect with VDMX. I'm actually about ready to cycle back towards mapping/masking soon, as we have an augmented painting project coming up. They also just recently released MadMapper, so I really want to try and use that on a project as well.
Thx for your reply. Its a strange fenomenon though.. that it seems to be challenging to solve an appearantly simple issue like this resolution thing. Madmapper? havent heared from it but i'll check it out. Thx man.

Hi, Since this video instruction was made, things have changed. The new versions of resolume enable you to draw masks inside resolume.. even as a layer effect, this means that all videos in that layer will use that singele mask you made. There is also a pluggin for resolume which is called IR mapio. check it out. Good luck
That looks great. I've seen a lot of videomaps lately and I'm wondering how it's done.. I want to start VJ'ing but only with videomapping, do you think resolume is the best software? (I have a pc, no mac)
Nice, I did this for 7 Led Screens in a Club as well. I will upload a video. :: Remember to put your Avenue Composition in the same resolution as your photoshop tracking btw;-)
Plus you can use this Method for 3D Mapping as well, a little more complicated but you can use the great Keystone effect in Resolume Avenue to set everything up.
so dumb question but I guess you make your matte in PS while you're projecting your image? Thanks nice demo. Hey you ever map over a curved surface - concave for my map?
nice.... what projector did you use ?
