  • Unforgettable Billy Vaughn will always be remembered for his great music! Memories from Ceylon...(Sri Lanka)

  • I grew up around Billy Vaughn's music. At about two years of age, I danced to his "Swingin' Safari" As an alto saxist in high school, I used his recordings to pattern my vibrato after. My private teacher said, "Now Billy Vaughn-that's how a sax should sound!!" AT one time I had many of his Dot 45's. But was was great in backing up Pat Boone and others in late '50's early '60's.

  • When I was a kid, my parents used to listen to Billy Vaughn's music and dance to it too. I still have a lot of records, 45rpm, which I treasure. I have just listened to SAIL ALONG SILVERY MOON, LA PALOMA, WHEELS, EINE NACHT IN MONTE CARLO, and I started to cry. Too many memories. Mr. Richard Vaughn has nothing to worry about: his father's music will be forever with us, deep in our hearts. Thanks a lot for posting this. Greetings from Switzerland.

  • I used this song for a theme on my radio show in the mid 1960s. It was my favorite recording. I had some letters from Billy in the mid 1970s. He was great. My friend Del Casher used to play guitar with Billy. Wonderful video.

  • I've been playing my saxophone along with Billy Vaughn's music for a long time. I don't sound too bad if I crank up the sound to about 110 Db and cover my mistakes..

  • I never heard this album, but I remember "Golden Saxophones" , and I would recognize that sound anywhere - a beautiful, mellow sound. Thanks for posting.

  • @richnerdy - sure it will remain always a Evergreen !

  • @richnerdy

    Hello Richard,

Just a short note to acknowledge your father's accomplishments in the music business.

I was in grade school when "Sail Along Silvery Moon" was a hit on the radio.

Your dad helped me through many homework assignments.

My Billy Vaughn section is the largest of all my vinyl collection.

Billy Vaughn, one talented great guy in the golden era of our history.

    kaisen10@verizon.net

  • @rich nerdy Your fathers music will live on for ever. He is a real pleasure to listen to. Billy Vaughn's music sets me in a great mood every time I hear it being played. What a talented musician.

  • @richnerdy I have been a fan of your dad's ever since I was 3 years old... I am 26 now... he was my first favorite artist, and still my favorite non-country artist. I make the distinction "Non-Country" as old country music is what I specialize in these days... but I still have a box containing nearly all your Dad's Dot LPs, plus a dozen or so reel to reel tapes of his. My Hands-Down favorite is "Wheels and Orange Blossom Special".

  • @richnerdy

Hi Richard, bumped into this by accident and just wanted to drop you a note. Your dad was not only popular in the west. He probably wouldn'thave known this, but his music was adored by fans as far away as in Sri Lanka (then Ceylon). Sail Along Silvery Moon was an all time hit on Radio Ceylon (the only entertainment media. We didn't have TV then) and I grew up with such superb music.

    Best Regards,

    Jude

  • @richnerdy

Richard, were you able to see your father perform at many concerts? I remember his tunes, even though I was young when they came out. If I remember, Raunchy was the "B" side of this song on the 45.

Are you into music as well?

  • @richnerdy

There will always be. I am in India and used to love his music in the sixties. I am myself in late sixties now. Some of the hit counts of his numbers are mine!

    Pasupathy

  • @richnerdy : good music will never die and will never be forgotten!

  • @richnerdy i like your dads music especially this song, and its my dads favorite too.thanks to mr.vaugh's music

  • @richnerdy I grew up totally obsessed with music of Billy Vaughn and Ray Conniff (chorus more than singers, and I hated Billy Vaughn few singers efforts) - I always wondered if they ever met and what thay thought of each other? One of my favourite records of all times is Billy's The Big 100 although it is not the most recognisable Billy Vaughn. Still have all the albums, many travelled 3-4 months from Ray Avery's Rare Records in Glendale, California by surface mail to Belgrade in Yugoslavia...

  • @richnerdy Rich, your Dad 's music was wonderful... and reminds me of a bye gone time in America..sad

I hope all is well with you..

  • @richnerdy Hi richard, your father was a Music Legend his music will last forever.

    From Roy in St.Helens

  • Sail along, silvery moon,Trail along lover's lane, Sail along, silvery moon,

    To my love again.

In the glow of your light, Let me see her tonight, Once again, hold her tight,

    Back in lover's lane.

And then the whole world wll seem brighter, As we stroll hand in hand,

Two blue hearts will be lighter,

    You understand,

Sail along silvery moon, Trail along lover's lane, Sail along, silvery moon,

    To my love again.

  • Billy Vaughn .. The best in music

  • Edelleen Billy Vaughn musiikkia " tuubista ". Luvassa tänä vuonna The Swinging Blue Jeans Tampereella, Ernos Ilovaarirock Joensuussa ja Marraskuussa Cliff Richard & The Shadows Helsingissä. Oi kultainen 60 -luku. Mitäpä sinulle luvassa ?

  • en asu suomenmaalla......cliffi kiinnostais....paul potts ja julio iglesias vois saada mut konserttiin...

  • Minulla rokimpi linja. Ei kiinnosta Iglesias. Potts täysin tuntematon. Ainoa kosketuspinta Biily Vaughn.

  • Senkus hivelet pintaa.............ite oon kosketellut monia pintoja vuosien varrella aina tilanteen mukaan.......tangoista rock- ja rap -musaan.....valssit ja rumbat ilona vuosien varrella....

  • it allows your mind return to the groove that leads back to the wonderful days when we were young, sitting in the movie house in Calcutta enjoying the music and the then luxurious airconditioner in the hot summer day afternoon. Li Mengtao from China

  • Nice!! Brings back a lot of memories esp when the radio stn way back in the late 70's or early 80's wld open transmission with a half hr program featuring an instrumental selection of various artistes for the day -Acker Bilk, Chet Atkins etc & me dad made it a pt to record all these selections on tape. After i heard the Billy Vaughn selections, really got me hooked the 1st time i heard it.

  • i agree with you 100% .......i am a widow and it does bring back wondeful memories............

  • Felicidades por el video; ¿cómo puedo bajarlo a mi disco duro?

  • GREAT!

  • The name of this song is Sail Along Silvery Moon, plz change it :)
