I've just played this game again yesterday after ... wait.. 12 years LOL and I totally failed haha, I thought it was more easy but now my memory is coming back slowly more and more, I remember I always lost against my friend.. lol still it was fun haha =) but I wish I would press the buttons in the right moment...anyhow I'm still not good at playing this game. lol

I think it's because the songs that did have english dubs were there because the Americans didn't agree with some of the wording in the Japanese songs. Since this one was ok they left it as is.

When I was little I used to think the words were in english and they were saying things like "At the ice cafe..." which is sooo random.

Why is part of it in English and part in Japanese? Wouldn't it make more sense to either translate it all into English or leave it in Japanese?

A lot of Japanese songs have english in it too, so its most likely they designed it that way. Look at Utada Hikaru, good example :3

@taiyo888 The original song from the Japanese version of the game was recorded in Japanese and English. Beats me why they didn't re-record it entirely in English though (like they did with Shorty and Kitty-N's songs).
