After our jam the other day I thought I'd check out some more of your arrangements which are always great and this is no exception By the way you're wearing the same top in a lot of these videos. Did you record them all at once or did you just not change your clothes for days?!
@gextvedde Hey mate, glad you like this one.. such a fab song, lovely progression. You know I'm at the cutting edge of Medway fashion and possess not one but two t-shirts ..
WELL DONE SIR! I have loved this song since I first heard it many years ago. Something about it stirs feelings deep in my being... I always thought that was kind of weird. Thanks for a beautiful and worthy rendition!
@givemeapples1 Thanks - yes, as instrumentalists we can't offer variation between verses by singing different lyrics so we have to use what tools we have available, and that 'octave shift' is one such device.
I'm a brazilian guitar player (amateur) and I wish one day I can play this song, just like you do. I'm 70 now, and in the seventies ,they used to play it here in Brazil on the raidio, every 10 minutes.. At that time I did'nt understand the lyrics very well, but i loved the melody. Your performance is more than perfect. I wish I could get the sheet for of ypur arrangement. Congratulations.
@HONORIOCPBRAGA It's a popular song the world over :-) thanks for the comment .. details of the sheet music for this arrangemnent are on my site shaunmurray. biz .. thanks again
I am looking to learn this myself. My brother and his family were over and we laughed at how our Mum used to play G.O'S. all the time, but when we looked at the words could not believe how sad a song it is, yet we always enjoyed the tune. I have listened to a few people plyaing this on youtube, but yours is the only one that has the soul and pace of the words. Very very nice. Excellent.
@ironmonger100 Just checked, not here yet, will check again in an hour or so, my daughter lives in Kent, West Wickham and sometimes the web doesnt get e-mails back and forth that quick. Will let you know right away though,
@ironmonger100 Dude thankyou thankyou, I was listening to this song for the second time when I scrolled down and saw your reply. I got candle in the wind and this one (CHEERS mate!) I will be ordering a few others soon guaranteed!!!
Very good indeed. Even better if you kept the G bass going on the 'in an effort to make it clear to....' part where the chord moves simply to an augmented (d sharp note in the key you've chosen) rather than a b bass note which gives it a B(7) quality. Maybe you prefer it that way. Anyway, minor point, take a bow, it was very good.
@blossomsquirrel ..Good observation, thanks .. the chord I get at that point remains an augmented (B,D#,G) so I don't think think the substance of it really changes - I hear aug rather than B7 when I listen back. Having the B in the bass instead of the G does mean I can get the 'trill' on the next beat a little easier.
Great interpretation and excellent arrangement. One on my favorite songs that must be played during my funeral. CONGRATULATIONS for your guitar skills.
I know what you mean - I never took much notice of the song when it was out but I remember the nylon string guitar solo in it. Only in recent years have I rediscovered the song and realised how beautiful it is harmonically.
Really great! Thanks for posting this. I know tabs are a pain, but if you are going to post them, it would be much appreciated. Keep them coming!! You have a fan in the States!!!
Thankyou ... I'm always amazed when someone from the U.S. picks up on this track - it seems so British to me! I haven't transcribed this one yet, I'll let you know when I do :-)
This song was #1 in the US back in 72. I remember this song (I was 7) but I had older brothers who listened to Top 40 all the time. You did a really good job. I realize how difficult some of these songs are too. I play and pick up the guitar every once in awhile. I've been practicing some Jim Croce lately. Thanks Again!
hey man, just great!!! really............... i have no words. but i am looking for the tab and in dont find anyone as good as yours, why dont you teach us the song or tell us where we can get the tab, because its a song that really worths it, please!!!!

I am telling you, that is one of the BEST things I have ever heard. Just absolutely excellent. As a 47 year old guy just starting out guitar (chords and strumming!) I can only hope to God to play half that good someday!!!!
It's SoooOOOooo nice... your smile too, pal... This Gilbert's is one of my favourite song... you really touch the SOUL... hope could have the TABS sometime... Thanks anyway!

very cool I hope people can remember this song.the original was very cleverly written and this expertly arranged and performed by a true master of the instrument.
Thanks, much appreciated. I think it's a masterpiece of a song, and I wish i could have done it more justice. I was surprised to find this song is quite well known in The States! Season's greetings to you :-)
Beautiful! Although I live in the states now, I am European by birth and go often (This Dec in fact) and so I always loved the British pop music (especially the 70's) even though I don't perform it much since people here don't know much of it. I had several ideas for guitar arrangements of Pilot songs but again, no one here would know it. Can I request some Pilot...?
Hey Jake, I'm thrilled you found the time to watch - Thankyou! Ah, Pilot - yeh, some great catchy, quirky melodies - VERY underrated, and they seem to sound so much better now we're older for some reason! I feel an arrangement coming on, stay tuned! :-)) Best regards mate - Shaun.
another great play, continue posting some nice song...I love to listen u'r played music. Before had a problem with my finger i used to play some pop music in guitar...
Thanks for the kind comment, really appreciate that. I just did it by ear, trying to play the melody over the top of the chords, it's not written down. Glad you liked it, it's a great song.
Real Good! Iron, it is always a great surprise to listen to a rendition of a song that is so associated with its author and singer and the times from where it sprang, and still to be performed in such a new meaningful way. Appreciated your sharing it. Thanks.
