Diolch / Thanks for this They were a much better act than the much loved English Comedy duo Morecambe and Wise (Though also quite rightly loved) I saw Ryan as a child at The Swansea Grand. a few times. So Very fond memories still remain.
In common with Loftie30, I too saw Ronnie and Ryan at Swansea Grand every year at Christmas. I too was on the stage doing the Laughing Policeman (got a Cadbury's 'curly whirley' as a reward). I'm using a pseudoname, of course, but could we have both been on the stage at the same time? I couldn't have been much older than 6.
Happy memories of going to see them in the Grand Theatre Swansea every xmas, until Ryans early death. I remember like yesterday going on stage with Ryan and having to do a laughing policeman routine I was only 6 but i will trasure it always
I can remember going to see Ryan in the National Eisteddfod in Cardigan in 1976. I was 11 years old at the time. I can just remember it was a fantastic show with hime joking/singing and playing the piano. What a talent. More recently, I used to see Ronnie in Cardigan quite often during his last years. I never spoke to him. Didn't want to bother him. Wish I had now.
I met Ryan in Mold in the late 1970s. He recognised my accent as one from deep South Wales. "What are you doing up in North Wales ?" he asked. I replied that I was doing the omly thing a South Wales lad could do up there. I was a missionary!

today i have been working on a film for s4c about the history of this double act. i was only there for the one day but it looks very good and very well acted. so if you are a fan keep an eye out for it on s4c in the future. as it was one of the last days of the shoot. so after the editing is completed it should be ready to air.
It'd be a sad world if we communicated in a language which only we understood. The basis of mass communication like Youtube is to reach a wide audience. Ryan & Ronnie got it right with a bilingual approach. Language is a vehicle for communication - choice of language should be secondary to, and enable the message's communication. I'm a Welsh speaker, proud of my heritage, but also recognise the disadvantages of insistence on a monoglot approach.

Thanks A Lot. I'm not Welsh, so no axe to grind. They were brilliant. So very funny, and both singers so good they were always a pleasure to listen to. Sadly missed by a 60 year old Englishman.
When listening to Ryan and Ronnie, I can truly say I am proud to be welsh! I have lost my copy of Ryan at the rank and have been looking for some time to purchase another copy, I loved hearing the different versions of Happy Birthday by the different classical composers. The jokes and stories were the best!
Please can somebody let me know where I can purchase a copy of Ryan at the Rank to replace my well worn lost copy.
It takes me back to the panto days at Swansea Grand when I was very small, and I got their album free and played it to death, such memories, I don't know why at such a small age they captured me but they did, and their deaths were such a shame Tanya Ystalyfera 42. Thank you for sharing this
