Retail workers are not mindless drones. Good ones aren't, anyway. The key to being a good retail seller is to adapt your selling style and techniques to each customer, build a relationship with them, and let them know you're there to help them, not make money off of them (Which I don't because we're not commissioned salespeople).

If the people at the stores you go to are mindless drones, then find another retailer to shop at.
