  • I have another tape at home where he plays a solo on "Sweet Georgia Brown," modulating through all 12 keys without switching harps. It's remarkable. Yeah, the solos in a few of the positions are pretty "outside" but he is playing in key, on pitch through the whole thing.

  • Howard is widely viewed as the best that ever lived. In the `70's I took lessons from him for a year - he is an amazing person on many levels, and an astonishing multi-instrumentalist, playing piano, mandolin, sax, steel drum and stuff I've never even heard of.
