There were some ricketty moments here but let's face it, Elicia must be tired from singing in this competition. People cannot appreciate sometimes the superhuman quality that we ask of these singers to sing in perfection. But Elicia was fantastic here! Hope she does not lose her voice after the Sound of Music stint in Toronto. Go, Elicia, go!

Wow, this literally blew me away. Elicia took the emotion to a whole new level and inspired me to play this on the piano the way she sings it. The performance was so moving, and the end was priceless. (I'm talking about the way she says "Look, a new day has become". It's so beautiful that I can't find words to describe it.)

Maybe I watched a different preformance than you did, but I didn't think Connie's performance was superior in any way. Connie's performance certainly lacked the emotion that this rendition offers.
I really like this. its my first time hearing it but i must admit I love Connie's version. Think its the best i'v heard. That and barbara streisands. The first time I heard of Connie was on the concert for Diana. she was AMAZING on it!!
This performance brought the house down. After this, it was very clear who should take any lead roles in a musical. You can see the talent and potential of this lady. Yes she has a very pretty face but you cannot ignore the richness of her voice. She has a more expressive acting face comapred to other one. I have already bought tickets to see the show featuring Elicia and I will post my comments on youtube my 2 cents. I will surely enjoy this classic musical regardless who Maria is.

I though Jenna would win when I saw the first episode but when she started singing, I changed my mind. Plus she looks a lot like Celine Dion. Allie Hughes I though have the perfect voice for the role but got cut. Elicia looks more like Belle from Beauty & the Beast. But have the characteristics of Maria.
Elica will need to work on balancing the emotion of the song with her voice. 8 weeks of rehearsals should help. She can be very emotional which will probably serve her well, but controlled emotion will serve her best.

I will say that Elicia deserved to be in the top 3 she has a great voice, but Janna can act, sing and dance.

I live in Montreal and will fill a seat! I voted for Elicia 20 times (and I never vote). Janna is also great, but Elicia touched me more. For me Janna's downfall was she seemed to want it so bad, she tried so hard to be perfect, and it showed. I was always aware that she was acting whereas with Elicia I'd forget, I'd believe. But I am sure once Janna does get a big part she will be great and her naturalness will shine through.
